Moving DMX channels

Hey,

So here's the deal... my lighting rig consist's of Par64's (01-19DMX), 2 Design Spot 250s (20-51), and a fogger (52). I want to keep the pars where they are.. but I would like to move the Design Spots to a higher DMX value such as (100-131 dmx). The reason being is.. I am expanding my pars and I would like to keep them together.

I know how to do this, but I have 1 problem. If I move the DS250's up, I will lose all my programming. Is there a way to change the DMX traits without having to re-program EVERYTHING?

Thanks,

-Chris-

There might be a way. Let me research this and get back to you hopefully by tomorrow afternoon. I think there is something in the page settings.

OK panhead i think i got a solution for you. I was not able to test with actual lights hooked up to the software mainly cause A) i am on a 64 bit windows Frowner and b) i didn't have time to set up my lights. so but according to the dmx output window this should all go well. however just in case make a copy of your show file and store it on your desktop before doing this. OK? Make sure you do that. As i don't want to feel responsible if this doesn't work. OK? here we go.

On your design spot 250 page right click on the title bar that has the text "Design spot 250" and go to page settings. Once in the page settings go to channels and then find the icon that is circled in black in the pic below. but you must make sure your first fixture is selected. then find the icon.

now that window pops up and you change 20 to 100 or whatever your desired address is. Then click OK. now select your second fixture and click the circled icon and instead of the number there change it too 117. Then hit OK and then also hit OK on the page settings window.
Now your fixtures may say that they are still on 20-51 but if you look at the dmx output window they will have moved. I even added 20 more pars starting at channel 20 to overwrite the old Ds250 channels and it worked. hope this make sense. Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like me to walk your through it over the phone my direct line is 1-323-213-4590

Thanks!

I did everything you said, and it worked... kind of. The DMX is outputting through channels 100+.. but I was not able to add more PARs on channel 20+. It said there was a problem with the MASTER page having more than 1 fixture going onto a channel. So I have the 19 PARs going 01-19, and the DS250's going 100-132.

I think the problem is that it doesn't actually "move" the Design Spots, it just patches them. So the light is still sitting at 20-51, but the output is being re-directed to 100-132.

yea, this just re-routes them, you wont be able to add other fixtures to those dmx channels, I just did this the other week, and couldn't find a work around.

Really? I was able to add 20 more par 64's and program them BUT i only programmed them on the fixture page NOT the master page. I had not programmed anything on the master page. Let me discuss this further with our techs.

Correct... I run most of my scenes through the master page though, so it is very important for that to work.
