If that is the case, then they would be cheaper then an MSD 250 and closer in price to par 64 lamps. As much as I hope is the case, I just don't see it working out that way. Philips would completely under cut every other lamp they have out right now and make it pointless to buy anything else then, shattering the bigger half of their business for entertainment lamps. MSR 575/SA2 DE are some of the most expensive arc lamps though.

The replacement cost of the Platinum Spot lamp in the market will be comparable to an 575 lamp to start. Remember, this lamp includes a reflector so you basically get a new optical system each time you replace the lamp - unlike a standard MSD250 or 575 plus it is rated at 2,000hours to start - Philips hopes to get it to 3,000 hours.

Excellent, thanks for the info Eric. Good to know I will actually end up spending less on lamps since the Platinum 5R lasts twice as long as an MSR 575/SA2 DE. Also nice to see they are trying to get it into the MSD 250 range, which makes bang for the buck even better then.

Is there any time table for paper work on these fixtures (manuals, cue sheets, DMX charts, etc)? I have some on order already and planning for shows in my musical/dance season. Just seeing if I will need to grab any costume gobos for certain things I have in mind and also want to get working on fixture profiles so I can start pre-programing.

Thanks.

I'm in the same boat i'd like to see some info and vids on this, as i've speced out 48 of these and the DS wash 60 for a venue install, would like to use these insted of the ds575 and wash fixtures for reasons being power ratio and weight ratio.

also would like to know if by chance elation might be making a wash fixture with the 5R bulb as that kinda made me wonder why they didnt come out with more fixtures than just the one, as ADJ brought out 2.

Sorry EBAC, but do to TOS, I won't post such information on the forum. I don't think the MAP pricing is released yet either, just the list price which is $2,800. So cheaper then the DS 575 at $5,500 but a lot less feature wise.

Cool, thanks again Eric.

platinum spot 5R does not have built in WDMX.
but if you already have the WDMX system you can plug the platinum into your receiver for wireless.
