This is my first post here, so be kind. I recently bought a Stage Setter-8 controler and will have 8 PAR cans with 2 4 channel DMX dimmer pack connected to it shortly. This system will be use for Band concert and we do not plan to have someone to operate it.

So my goal is to prepare each song we play on a MIDI file containing the lighting sequence we want. I did quickly tested with a drum sequencer I use and it confirms to me this should work. Now the problem I face to is to find a MIDI editor/sequencer software to do the job because the drum sequencer is not sofisticated enough.

My question is what software are you using to do this job? I work on Windows and Mac so I can use any one. I would be able to easily control the note duration and have the ability to control the velocity in/out ramp/duration for fading the light. I would preffer to use freeware, shareware then commercial software if possible.

i have heard cubase works good. but i have never donw what you are trying to do so i can't say for sure. peace! jingles.

Cubase is a bit expensive for the test. Is there anything else available for less?
