Car Alarm Interference...

I apologize in advance if someone has mentioned this issue before.

About a week ago, I had a few minutes to spare before meeting a friend for lunch, and I ended up visiting my favorite music stores in my area. I parked my vehicle adjacent to the one of the stores and attempted to set my car alarm it would not arm. So I immediately contacted the dealer who recently installed the alarm and they told me to bring my vehicle in and they would check it out. I then called the person I was going to meet for lunch and told him that I would be delayed because of the problem with the alarm and one of the sales people in the store who heard me mention this told me that a lot of people have the alarm problem in their parking lot.

To make this short, I went back to the store a few days later with my AR 2200 handheld scanner and my 440 MHz yagi antenna and traced it to a wireless light stream control unit inside the store. The device operates at 315 and 434 MHz. My alarm operates at 434 MHz.

The salesman told me that the particular unit was discontinued and he just disconnected it and the signal on 434 MHz vanished. Has anyone experienced this before? The signal emitted by this unit is very strong, by the way.

Thank you.
