I'm not sure if this is approperate forum protocol, but we need help. If the moderator deletes this posting I will understand.

Recently our elementary school suffered total damages when our sprinkler system exploded in -20 degree weather. Everything in the school was devestated, not a book, computer, rug, wall, is worth keeping. Fortunately, the inspector allow us to open up half of the school, which suffered less damage then the rest.

Trinity Catholic Academy has a strong Performing Arts department which is a model for training elementary school students, and students from Pre-K to 8th. grade get up early to practice for our bi-annunal community musicals. Inspite of the difficult circumstances, 3 days later the childern were singing away practicing for their upcoming performance. It seems all that water didn't wash out the school spirit, and we know the show must go on.

Although the insurance will pay for totally rebuilding the inside of our school, my concern is that we have no lighting equipment for their musical which is coming up May 16th. I don't know who, or where to turn for immediate help. Grants seem to take forever, and corperate lighting manufactures are next to impossible to contact.

Is there anyone who might have lighting fixtures or equipment that they are willing to donate to help us rebuild our department. I'm sorry for sounding so frank, but I'm in a desperate situation. Thank you for taking time to read this posting.

jingles,

Sometimes it's difficult to describe just how one feels, when they put their heart into a project like this for kids, and it gets wiped out. If someone, anyone, would or could "step up to the plate" there would be such an out pouring of gratitude not only from myself and the faculity, but our entire community and especially the students.

Thanks for your kind words and support.

Hi Mate,

That sucks. We could let you borrow 4 x Design Spot 250's and 4 x Power SPot 575's and a Showdesigner 2 for your concert. However, we are based on the Gold Coast in Australia. But I will ask a few contacts for you if you want and I'll see what I can come up with.

Cheese Toby,

I don't what to say, that would be awesome man. Although I am a bit concerned about the cost of shipping these items round trip, and how safe they would stay. But that would give us an incredible musical production.

I am also beating the bushes, and have contacted pop-folk legend Ani DiFranco to see if we can gain her support. She grew up in our city and still has close ties here. Hearing all this support only reinforces my hope that we can still pull together a great show for the kids by May 16th.

Thanks Toby.
Jim

EBAC Lights,

Yes, the school will love to inherit a couple DMX dimmer packs and board, it would be the building blocks to bring us back online.

If we could then pick up a few conventional and dmx fixtures, we'd be good again. Hay I really appericate it, how can I contact you?

Hi Jim,

Unfortunatly Elation does not offer equipment.
Instead we prefer to refer your request to local dealers in your area. This is an oportunity for users and dealers to work together.
Please let us know your organization details.

Dear Mr. Lopez,

Thank you for your response and allowing me to post my unfortunate situation on the board. We are a Parochial school in Buffalo, New York. Our closes Elation distributor is Indigo Productions who we have done business with in the past. The service for our stage is 120VAC-120AMP.

I doubt if we can "afford" to purchase any lighting in our current situation, but need equipment for not only our upcoming production, but future ones. We were considering something like a few STAGE COLOR PARS, and found the most resonable deal at Premier-Lighting out in LA.

Our needs are meger for a 15x15x30 stage, but a good discontinued control board like the STAGE-Q, or SHOW-Q would be ideal to program CUE's for the students to operate.

I was hoping that maybe there is some "B" or "C" stock floating around that is no longer used. If we can get together a community grant, we would be willing to pay, if our dollar could go farther, this would be ideal.

Once again, thank you for your consideration.

Hi Jim,

Sorry mate, no luck with the contacts regarding lights for your function. I haven't been able to get in touch with my friend.

Will keep on trying though.

Hay Toby,

Nice to hear from you again!

It's comforting to know that if anything, I'm making good friends on this board. Nothing seems' to be stirring up here.

I did put a few letters out to local businesses. Lets see if they will chip in and help out.

If so; I will be in the market for some good used equipment, and perhaps some members will know of someone selling, who may give me a great deal.

Thanks again Toby! I really do appreicate that someone all the way across the pond is going out of their way to help out!

Hi Mate,

No worries, sorry I couldn't really help out.
Yes, although the world is a large place the lighting industry seems to be one big family!
