I bought an Elation Stage Setter 8 a year ago. I have never been able to do some of the tasks documented in the manual and, in some cases, topics in the manual do not correspond to actual functionality or button labels on the actual unit.

I did, however, figure out how to program chase patterns to the 8 user programmable chase buttons. Suddenly this functionality does not work. I am in the right mode (2x8 or 8x8) and I follow the right steps but the chase pattern does not get saved and pressing the chase pattern button does not execute the pattern. I noticed that the record button (called program button in the manual) no longer blinks when I press it to program a chase pattern...it used to do this.

I am at my wits end with this and I even reset the unit. Accordingly, in addition to not being able to program new chase patterns, I no longer have the ones I programmed. The built in factory patterns are not very helpful as they chase through 8 channels and I only use 4. Accordingly, there are moments in the chase sequence where nothing changes as it chases with the tempo.

Several weeks ago (before the above problem happened) I bought a second unit (for redundancy sake as well as to practice configurations at home rather than at the club). When I got this unit home, the functionality did not work the same way as the one I already had been using for a year. Specifically, I could not program chase patterns in the 2x8 or 8x8 modes. It would only program a chase pattern in the 1x16 mode which completely contradicted the manual (which says you can only program in 2x8 or 8x8 modes) as well as my experience with the unit I already was operating. I took this second one back.

Try out with a "General Reset" of the Scene Stage Setter to see if it works. Then try again the chase pattern config. maybe will work.
