I just received an Opto Branch 19" rack mount unit.
My question is this ... opto branch implies that there is optical isolation involved same as opto splitter. However, the electronic schematics on the top of the unit show transformers for each branch leading me to believe that it's actually galvanic isolation instead of optical. Can anyone confirm which it is either optical or galvanic. If it is in fact galvanic I would strongly urge you to change the name of the product as it will anger me to find out it is not in fact optically isolated. thank you for your time. -Mike |

Hi Mikey
Each output includes a “6N137” optical coupler in addition to a transformer to boost signal. So both the Opto Branch 4 and the DMX Branch 4 are both OPTO and Electronically Isolated for best overall protection and to enhance DMX output. John J Lopez Elation Professional |

Thanks for clarifying John....
Glad to hear it's optical... Take a look on the top of the unit when you get a chance ... notice the transformer symbols on each branch... the way its drawn makes it seem like there is no optical isolation...somethin to consider. Thanks again for your response. -Mike |
