Hi,

I was wandering if anyone out there has used the Show Designer 3 or has anything to say about it. I'm in the market for a new console and can pick one of these up at the great price of $----. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jarrod

Hi Jarrod,
The price sounds great! That is way below MAP.
Anyhow, the console is so new, that It may be impossible to find a used console.
Good luck.

Hi Jerald, I recently Purchased the Console about 3 Weeks ago and have used it 4 Time Since. Overall It Pretty Easy to Use, Its very similar to the NSI MLC16D Console, The Main DownFall is there is now external monitor, and when there are over 1000 presets, etc. Its very hard to remember what button does what.

Hi LightGuy,

We also have a monitor software for the SD2 and SD3.
Link: http://www.elationlighting.com/pdffiles/SD2Dmonitor.zip

However in order to use this your SD3 must be connected to a PC then the monitor to the PC. This will give you displays of all your presets.

Best regards,

I use the monitor on my SD2 works great! It's nice because you have quick access to everything, and can even launch scenes, chases, everything with the click of a mouse. Just wonder if there will be an update where we can actually edit within the monitor window, that would be great!
Just an Idea, I have caught myself trying to type in the monitor section when I change something, But I have to do it from the board..

Color creates!

Misebeam, have you tried using the channel value editing features from the monitor program? When you click on a channel box, a pulldown appears with all of the available channel values to choose from.

Also, to anyone that is interested, when the SD3 is attached to the latest version of the monitor program, additional displays to view the playbacks and other things unique to the SD3 are turned on.

Be sure to download version 2 of the monitor software. The Elation downloads page should be updated with that version soon if not already.

Lightguy, the program is only PC based at this time.. I don't see a Mac version comming out in the near future.
You install the software to you PC, then connect the SD3 to the PC with a null modem cable through a com port.
no need to install anything on SD3.

Click the help pulldown and then "about" and make sure you have version 2.0, if not download the latest version from the Elation download page.
