ok take it easy on me ... i got thrown into learning about this, i have read the dmx handbook, an the manual for the dmx partner i have, i am dealing with a dmx partner and a dj scan 250ex, i cant get the preprogramming to erase on the dmx partner so i can make my own shows or just use manual mode, to erase the preprogram i switched it off held the blackout, speed, show 1, record, while switching it on, .... did not erase any thing. i can hit all the shows and the light will work but really fast. i have the rs-232 software, like the instructions said i would need, how can i create my own shows or just use manual controls? or am i missing an important step?

you need another controller in which to program on. The Partner is almost nearly a playback device. you cannot Program much on it. I'll see if i can get a more knowledgeable person on this subject.
Welcome to the forums.
