I have a Show Designer 2 at my church. The screen is going bad on it, and I was trying to get the computer display software to work until I get the screen replaced. It is the standard SD2 with just the com port. I know the manual says use a null modem cable to hook to the computer so I went and picked one up. The SD Monitor software will not communicate with the SD2 at all. Also, when using the computer and SD Backup, the backup will send to the board, but the board will not send anything through the com port.

I also have the external SD Disk Drive unit, and it will not read/write or communicate with the Show Designer other than letting me type names of scenes, fixtures, etc through the keyboard.

I have tried using a standard db9 cable, and null modem cable and neither have worked. I am using the latest software 1.17. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you have all your bases covered on this one, I would send the SD2 into our service department for repair, as it sounds like a bad unit. Elation Service: 866.245.6726
