Hey all,

Been using the Compu1024EC for a while now and getting it figured out.

Heres one.

I have some switches for a DS250 moving head light that target certain members of the band or parts of the stage. They read like Bass, Drums, Guitar, Front, etc. They are hooked up to only the XY parameters of the control.

These switches are 're-targeted' each gig to get the correct location at that venue.

If I want to make a chase that runs from bass to drums then guitar and back how can I use the values of these switches inside other scenes.

In other words. I'd like to tell it once where the drummer is and then have it look there in other scenes/switches. I don't want to have to fiddle with each chase refocusing each person.

If any of this makes sense please honk! Smiler

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

PS I'm also using the Behringer BCF2000 midi controller and it's working pretty sweet. Anybody got any questions give me a shout.

Hi Tony,
This feature you are looking for actually exsists.
It is called a Focus Preset.

Meaning you create master scene positions. then you record all your scenes based on these master scene positions.
When you go to a different venue all you do is adjust the Focus Presets and all your scenes adjust to the new position.

Unfortunatly.. Compu Live does not have this feature implemented.
Its do to come out on a future release, but there is not way of doing this on Compu Live.

Confused
That’s too bad! I was Highly interested in this exact function, it gets hard going to different venues knowing that you are going to have to run thru some 100+ scenes to correct alignment on performers.

When do you think this feature release will happen?
I moved away from my show designer 2cf, in hopes that the Compu 2048 FC+ would have these capabilities.

We've been pushing for this to be done years ago.
Howeve the current platform does not allow it.
The new platform should be done by the end of the year where we will finally see this feature implemented.
But I wouldn't ask you to hold your breath for it.
If this is a key feature you will be using, it may be best to consider a different program that offers you the feature you need.

Thanks John.

Keep pushing because it would be a very cool feature.

I'm a developer and I have no idea how they would do the interface. It would be very tricky!

If you are talking to development types I'd love to have the config files be in XML. That way you could spot issues and differences faster than having to wade through the app.

All told though it is a very cool little program and it still frequently amazes me (and only occasionaly frustrates me).

Thanks for the info.

Thanks Tony,

Trust me, we've been beating them over the head with this feature. Its really the only thing holding the software back from really taking off.

I apreciate your feed back.. If you have any further questions.. let us know.

Tony, I am the compu live guy. Try this when you go to create a new master scene click the switch with the position you want to use. When the switch name window comes up make sure you click in the as you see now box and make sure the checkbox next to the position switch is checked. Now hit OK+edit and add color or gobo or whatever you want to add. Try that and let me know. Or if you have any questions. Thanks. Sincerely,

So just to make sure what you said Jingles, if we create a master switch like "Drums" or whatever with "as you see it now" and the call that switch in a chase, or a scene. So when we go to a new venue, all we have to do is edit that one switch with the new X-Y position for the new location. That sounds like it would work. Does that sound right?
That would be great!

Well me and elation pro were discussing this a lot today. but once you enter in those switch values into a scene those current values will stay the same in the scenes as they currently are. so if you change the values in the switch it wont carry over to those previously made scenes. so back to square one it seems. i am gonna test this out tonight on my lights at home and ill report back. i guess i didn't fully understand Tony's initial question. That would be a palette system. With a palette system, you save all your positions, beams, and/or colors. Then any scene or cue record using that palette will update automatically with that palette.

For example, if you had scenes and cues that used the same focus for drums, you can create a position palette called 'drums' and use that palette for drum cues and scenes, then record them. Now when you go to another venue, simply update the focus on the 'drums' palette, and it will automatically update all the cues and scenes using that palette. Same goes for colors and beam properties (gobos, gobo positions, focus, shutter, animation, zoom, iris, frost, beam shaper) too.

It is a very powerful tool, a time saver, and very useful. The problem is it is not cheap. It is generally only seen on high end desks, though that has since changed with the Ion.

Thanks serra, so yes.. we're hoping to add this feature soon to Compu.
On another note, both Elation ShowDesigner 2 and ShowDesigner 3 have this feature.. its called Focus Presets.
Maybe we should rename it to Palette system so people know we have it.

Sure, I would love to hear about it. Right now all of my shows are in my Showdesginer 2, and I was slowly converting over to the Compu, but I did not know that feature worked. I tried saving focus presets, but it would always go back to the original position when I was running with scene "ad mode" or "pile on".

But yes I would love to see how to do it in compulive!
