Hey all
I am charged with running the new LED/DMX rig for our church. I have a Elation Operator with some LED parcans. I read the manual and figured out how to color change and set scenes etc.
What I need to figure out is how to make the scenes fade in/out. Do I need dimmer packs?
Thanks

hey dave! no NEVER plug DMX lights into dimmer packs! it will ruin the light and the dmx board inside it! on the op u have a choice of fade and hold times but unless u want to manually move the fade time as ur scenes are playing u might as well decide on a fade and hold time that suit your general needs. if u want a fade you gonna have to make 2 scenes. scene one will be the color u want to fade and then the next scene will be the black out or the different color. now play those back with a fade time on them and it should fade. i'll let thissit with you for awhile so just let me know if you have any more questions or what not. ok? also welcome to the forums! sincerely,

Jingles
The only reference to fade is between scenes on a chase. How do I get to fade to black etc?
Also my lights will just stobe uncontrollably sometimes when I am in chase. Am I missing something?
Thanks

hello dave. one question first. are you using the DMX operator 192? the one with the joystick to control pan and tilt? ok if u leave the fade slider on say 1.00 secs. then if u hit a scene button then hit another scene button in playback mode it should fade. and it will also fade as your scenes are playing back the chase you programmed. to get a blackout you have to program the blackout as a scene. so turn the lights you want blacked out off. and then record that as a scene. so now since u have that black out scene programmed you can then add it anywhere in the chase and if you have a fade time on it will fade out to black. understand. let me know what controller you have and i can send you out a instructional DVD for it. ok? e-mail me your address to jamesk@elationlighting.com i will get back to you as soon as i can. sincerely,

James
the model I have is just called the operator. No joystick. I am not really looking to make the lights do a chase as much as I am looking to have smooth fades between scenes. I would love a DVD for it.
Thanks
