I now have a SD2CF(well the Robe version) and need profiles for the Chauvet Intimidator spot (DMX-680) and for the Optima lighting 4 channel dimmers. I checked the profiles for those brands in the downloads and don't see either.

Do I need to ask them for profiles, or here? Or do I make them and if so just how hard is it to do? Remember i'm from the days of tons of par 64's and pinspots Big Grin But i'm fairly intelligent and willing to learn this DMX stuff even if it kills me.

Oops forgot to post the 2nd question. Since 32mb CF cards are hard to find, what is the largest card the controller will recognize? I saw in another post smaller than 256. So do that mean 256 will work or do I need to drop to 128mb?

Thanks

Hi Dan, since its the Robe version, you will need to contact Robe.
originally it was 32, then 256, but now its any card on the Elation versions.. but since its the Robe version you will want to check with them.
It's esentially the same board, but i'm not sure if they changed the software in any way.

Thanks for the reply John. Believe me when I say buying the Robe version wasn't high on my list. I needed the console for NYE and the SD1,2 and 3 in the Elation were all on backorder till after the beginning of the year.

I have sent emails to Robe but I guess they don't feel in any rush to reply to the end user Frowner

Hi Dan,

Ok..there are a lot of variables depending on the revision date of your board.

To be safe you will want to stick with a CF card no bigger than 256, and highly recomended its a sandisk or Kodak formated to fat 16.

2ndly you can use our software to generate profiles for your chauvet and optima lighting.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies Jon. After 4 emails and phone calls to both their west coast office and Florida I finally got someone on the phone that said they have changed nothing other than the name.

The software version of mine is 1.18. I really wish I could have found an SD2 in the timeframe I needed since it seems the 'other' guys have basically no end user support.

As far as profiles go, I spoke too soon as it isn't nearly as difficult as I had envisioned. A quick look around the program and about 30 minutes time and I have working profiles. The capabilities of this console are just amazing. After all the research I did I knew I was going to be impressed but this controller is just amazing. It took several hours to get over the learning curve but we haven't found anything we want it to do that it can't Smiler

I will check locally for a SD or Kodak 256 mb card. If I cannot find one what number do I call to order a 64mb from you?

Lastly, can we just pretend that it is labeled Elation and not Robe so if I have any more questions I can ask them here? Big Grin

Thanks for all the help
I truely appreciate it

Dan

Hi Dan,
Did you use the software link I posted?

Also, that's good that your at 1.18.. you are using the most current software and thus you can use any SD card up to 2GB.

As long as its formated to FAT 16 it should be good.
Sandisk is the recomended brand.

What else did you have questions no?

That should do it John. Yes we did use the SD2 creator. I originally thought I was going to need help getting profiles but to tell the truth, it isn't hard at all to make them at all.

I will pick up a SD CF card tomorrow and will try to make it 1 gig or under. I only want it for backup just in case.

Thanks again
Dan

Yes.. that's the main reason to use a CF card.
Always back up your work.
The most frustrating moments is when you have a lot of work programmed and for some reason or another, the board crashes.
Its very simple to save memory to disk, then if anything ever happens, you simply load it back in.
