The Operator 192 has a USB port, why do I need the extra converter box? Can't I just plug the laptop directly into the Op192's USB port and have mydmx talk direcly to the controller?

Hello. Welcome to the forums. That will not work because the USB port is just for backing up your scenes and chases to a thumb drive or for powering a USB light for the console. No dmx data is sent out of the USB. If you have more questions let me know.

The operator 192 has 2 usb ports - one on top for the thumb drive and one on the back - printer port style.

What is that one for?
