API Available for Compu Que?

We have purchased an Elation Compu Que USB dongle for controlling lights for our church. I'm interested to know if there is an programmers API if we want to talk directly to Compu Que. This would allow us to have custom software rather than using Compu Live.

Thanks

no there are no API's available. If your unhappy with compu live why not try the Compu show software?
Link too Compu Show Software
The compu Cue will work on both Live and show software.

I said Compu Live, but I meant Compu Show, as that's what I installed. I need is something very easy to use and Compu Show is complete overkill. The Easy Stand Alone product seems to be easiest to use of your offerings. Computer is 64-bit Vista and it looks like ESA won't work with on 64-bit. Is ESA going to be compatible with 64-bit?

Also why not just program scenes in compu show and then use the built in stand alone editor? Go the the External windows button in the controller tab and select Stand alone Editor.

I leaning towards getting another computer with Windows 32-bit. Then I can run the older software versions. The ESA software was much easier to use.

Do you know if an API has ever been considered?

You know I tried the release of ESA from our website and it worked fine on my windows 7 64 bit desktop and Compu Show SD interface. Does it not work for you? Which version date of ESA do you have installed?

No, we have never considered the API option. And we probably won't either. The interface and software are meant to be used together and not with 3rd parry programs. Sorry.

I have the Compu Cue (with three black buttons and two digit led display). Just received it a few weeks ago.

I downloaded ESA from web site. It shows file date of 12/1/2008 and the "About" box shows October 2008.

The Compu Show version shows Jan 18, 2011 in the "About" box. The drivers were installed when Compu Show was installed.

When I run ESA, it doesn't recognize the USB device. Have to start in "Demo" mode. Is there a newer version of ESA that I didn't see on site?

All of our controls/lights are simple dimmers. No gobo, lasers, moving colors or heads of any kind. I need to setup about 8 scenes and be able to fade between them. This appears to be very easy to do with ESA in the live mode.

Thanks for your help,
Chris

OK. Try this Dec 13th 2010 version. It's not on our web. I do believe this has worked for a few other customers who wanted to use a Compu cue and ESA.

Let me know how it goes. You may need to update the firmware in the Tools application located in the Compu Show folder on your main hard drive.

New version of ESA recognizes the Compu Cue. Won't be on-site to test on lights until this weekend. Looking very promising though.

Thanks,
Chris
