As soon as you put the fixture into sound active mode it basically does start to step through it's own programs but it goes off of the sound it is hearing from it's mic on the PCB board. so once that value is selected it is going to ignore all the others commands sent it to via DMX unless that value for S.A.(Sound Active) is taken away.
This is just the nature of DMX.
