ART SSC Firmware

I cannot get my brand new ART SSC to work or update. Both Emulation Pro and Emanager "see" the device but if you try to upgrade firmware it just sits there and says preparing for hours. The device also is detectd in Emulation Pro but does not seem to output DMX. I've called Elation but got nowhere. Can someone please help me troubleshoot this device to see if it is defective?
