scene setter 24 dmx channel addressing

I am trying to set up my new Scene Setter 24. I access the programming by using the record 1668 process. It then states to hold the record button and then hit the #6 flash button three times to access the dmx channel addressing. Tried many times with no luck.... Thoughts?
