well looking at the manual its says u can select you scenes that u recorded and enter them in a "show" u can also add scenes on the fly but since you are new to this i wouldn't try it just yet. so yes make your scenes and then add them to a show. understand? all this is in the manual just go slow and follow it step by step. good luck! sincerely,

hey ColorPal, sorry we didn't get to you in time. I know nothing about the SD series, but how did the show go? We have had that happen once on tour and trust me it is NOT FUN!!! The audience saw pretty much the whole show as we were programming scenes in right before show time. IT WAS H311!!! So let us know how the show turned out. You want to record presets.. Page 18 of the manual. I am not finding missing letters in the manual.. can you let me know what pages? <b>CREATING AND RECORDING PRESETS</b> Before recording a preset you must first do some preparation. In order to be able to view certain moving light channels like color or gobo you will first need to raise the dimmer levels and set the pan and tilt positions in order to see the color or gobo selections. Do this by selecting the fixture or fixtures...

January 2007 was the complete lightning installed in Dania Beach where my restaurant brandnew was becoming ready. Problem is jingles that your middle men don't do their job real well. I can tell you I ordered a PS575, within one month, the lens in the front had fallen out, and the dimmer didn't work. It also had a few other issues. They sent my advanced replacement out late, despite saying it would be there a certain day, and because it that, it hurt a show I was doing and lost money on it. About 6 months later, I ordered 2 PS575IEs. One light, 2nd show I used it for, about 3 weeks old and under 50...

Neither facility has ever used more than a light switch and a dimmer, so I hope by them NOT having experience, that the software is the easier route to go. The church in the pic above wants key light/features on the pulpit mainly. Then they want to be able to feature the orchestra pit (drums, bass, guitar - keyboard, piano - choir) Praise singers are just infront of the band. For...

Re: snow machine

As a lighting guy, I must state my strong loathing of snow drops. The stuff gets everywhere, and it gets on the lights, which it melts to. It then makes a nice burning plastic smell each time you turn them. It also looks horrible on the lights, and never comes off without damaging the paint job, light, etc. Other issues with it, you must sweep the stuff up vs it dissolving into nothing. It can also get into other things, like lines for travelers, caught in the air and then fall at random...

drew, are you talking about timing the DMX operator pro shows? If so, yes, you have to time it all with calculators and a bit of calculus! Regading live shows, you basically have to have a live operator. That's the way its done in the real world. You have all your cues (scenes) all stacked up nicely in a show (cycle) in the order your going to play them. Then for timing you set them to "GO". "GO" allows the scene to cue up till you hit "GO" again then it take you the the next scene in the...

Thanks for the welcome James. The answer I found was actually from a post of yours from the other forum, so I appreciate it! Our music alternates between full tilt country (if there is such a thing) to moderately slow ballad type songs. I think what I may try is have the fast chases activate with the audio from the kick drum, and let the slow songs chase to the time set on the fader. More on this as I get further into it. Again, thanks! Manford p.s. I've found a few simple videos out on...

Re: basic console programing

Depends on the show Drew. More complicated shows generally have time to program, and its just like Elation_Pro said, someone hitting 'Go'. Sometimes, it is linked to time code, so no one is even hitting go. Cruise ships are a good example, all the shows run off of time code, and the show starts when the sound guy hits play. The fun shows are the ones you have no idea what you are getting into. It is even more fun with movers. Running movers on the fly is often called busking. More powerful...

The problem sounds like the chase is effecting the channels your strobe is on. You need to edit the chases so they only include the PAR channels. Not sure how to do it on the SS8. Look at your manual. If you still can't figure it out or you are confused, drop another line and I will try and help you out. A strobe isn't really an intelligent fix, just easier to control with an intelligent controller is all. Should see some of the crazy things I have to do. For example, I am running an all LED...

Re: Pre recorded shows

Generally pre-programing refers to patching the console and setting up a few basic cues, effects, chases, scenes, submasters, and/or palettes depending on your console. This is generally done with off-line editors. Just about all my shows are pre-programed in this fashion, so I simply have to load the show from disk or USB drive and start the fun programing. It is a great time saver. The type of pre-programing islanddj is talking about is done with virtualization software, like Elation's...

Update! I have come up with a hardwired (literally) solution to the issue with fade time deactivation. I'll try to explain as clearly as I can, and apologize ahead of time if I lose anyone along the way. I'm using the Behringer FCB1010 to control the Operator 192 via MIDI. What I forgot about the 1010, is the ability to use the 2 built in "Switches" to control analog functions of amplifiers, just like a traditional stomp box that controls reverb/clean channel functions, etc. These are simple...

Re: Scene Setter 48 issues, less than 1 year

worldcreator ·
Thanks for your suggestion but that controller does not provide the same type of functionality as the SS48. I need to have easy access to multiple faders, like 48 or more. The show I run has alot of improv and things can change quickly. Having access to many faders and bumps are essential. Besides, from what I can see about the Operator 192 (from a Google search) it's more of an intelligent light controller. This rig is all conventionals.

Hi World.. Elation guy jumping in here. in the world of consoles in general the faders and buttons you commonly use will need to be replaced sometime or another.. sometimes sooner than later. With the Elation consoles we strive to use the good components to do the Job and not the best component made.. That is why you will see some lighting consoles for alot more money than the Elation product, and some consoles for less money. We believe our consoles are a great value for the price. However...

Re: A silly question about polarity on a Show Designer 1.

As far as I can remember, the polarity switch should take the place of the polarity reversing cable to get the Robos to listen. However, other fixtures in the chain would then need to have a reversed polarity cable to 'un-reverse' the signal. You'll just need to do some creative lighting plot design and daisy-chaining to get 'regular' and 'reversed' polarity to work in the same show. You will just need to daisy-chain all the Robos together and then put the reversing cable in between the...

Not to rob Jingles of business, but I think it would be beneficial for you to just buy a small DMX controller that will allow YOU to program your own scenes and chases. For one, you will learn a lot about DMX lighting and how to accomplish many different things. Plus, you will be able to modify, remove, and add to your current banks of scenes and chases without having to rely on someone else providing designs for you. You will then know how it all works inside and out, plus have the...

As far as computers are concerned, there are generally two fronts. The first is the ability to run your lights entirely from a software-based controller (like CompuWare), connected to a USB widget/dongle to send the DMX signal to your fixtures. The second one is the ability to trigger your regular DMX controller/console trough the use of MIDI triggers from a computer. In this situation, everything is programmed into the controller just like you would do for normal operation via the...

Ok, last question before I go to bed. Since I don't have any moving head fixtures just yet it was hard to justify buying the software. However, I threw up some of DLED 36's and I can do some great effects with these that are not possible on my show designer 1. Ok tell me how to accomplish this in the real world. 1. I want to create a dimmer chase for Design LED 36's that I can save and then overlay on any of my other static DLED 36 scenes. i.e. Say I have 3 scenes programmed for my DLED's.

I definitely know how important lighting is to a wedding...however it's hard to sell a mom on some lights on a band. However, I have found it easier to sell the mood of a room, their name on a gobo, a spotlight on the first dance, uplighting the backdrop or rear wall the same color as the bridesmaid dresses...this is the stuff that makes sense to the purchasers. However, I want the lights for the show! On a side note...I went to demo a design wash 250, and design spot 250 today. If found out...

Depends on exactly what you are looking to do. If it is just conventional lighting, then a scene setter will do, even with some LEDs in the mix. For movers, you will need some sort of moving light console, be it a Magic 260 (wouldn't recommend), DMX Operator 192, Show Designer 1, the CompuLive computer program, etc etc. If you also want to add moving lights later, I would go for a moving light console so you are not kicking yourself later, or you can do what I often do and use one console...

Yes, what you are describing are what a console would call a scene. A Scene is just a bunch of lights recorded (saved) to look a certain way when you bring up that scene. So for example, if you made scene 1 nothing but blue lights, when you hit scene 1 the blue lights would come on. If you made scene 2 red lights, the red lights would come on with scene two. If you made scene 3 red and blue lights, both the red and blue lights would come on when scene 3 is up. A series of scenes is called...

Yes, you have 96 pages that you can add to 8 different books in different ways for each book. The console doesn't say how many pages per book, so I assume you can use as many as you want. Don't quote me on it though. Sometimes you will see something like number of steps per show or chase. So if it says 40 Steps per Show, that would mean each of your books can have 40 pages in it, but you can make up 96 different pages to use in the case of the DMX Operator Pro. Don't think of CompuLive so...

Sometimes it worked then it would not . We ended up running DMX cable . Back at the shop we determined the problem was specific to the Leprecon LP624 we had used . The WDMX worked fine with 2 NSI , 2 Lightronics , and 2 ETC boards . I love wireless ! I found some interference with HME wireless itercom on a Cigna gig .

Hi Fish, You have a lot of learning to do. Hopefully Jingles will be able to help you more. Anyhow, when you set up your pages, each page shows you the channels you are using. Say 1-56 or 213-400. So when you study the pages, you can use this information to make sure you do not overlap channels, and you can clearly see how many channels you have free. You can also download the latest software, which should work with your 2006 interface.
