Show Designer 1 Bricked

Hello, This is my first time posting on these forums, so please let me know if there is a better place for me to post about this (I searched and couldn't find any posts about similar issues). I work at a company with several Elation Show Designer 1s. They have been reliable, but we had ordered a new set of them a little while back that seem to have been from a different series of production, despite being the same unit type (Show Designer 1). I say this because our original units had blue...

Fixture Profile for American DJ Focus Spot 3 moving light

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has a fixture profile for an American DJ Focus Spot 3 light, or know of another profile that is already in the SD2 profiles folder, that will work with this fixture. The fixture has both an 18 and 21 channel DMX mode, while the SD2 only has 16 and 24, neither of which have worked with this light. I am using a closed government network so I'm not able to download and use the fixture profile creator that I've seen mentioned on other threads. Thank you for your...

Platinum Spot 5R Pro fan speed

adamlive ·
I've got a 5R Pro fixture that I finally figured out had an intermittent fan speed issue that was causing the fixture to overheat and burn out lamps after just a couple shows. Replaced the fan and it runs cooler, out of the danger zone. But still too close to the danger zone, it gets as high as 200F (93C) even though the ambient temperature is low. I feel like I can hear the fan change speeds when the head flips over. Is that a real thing? The manual says there's a fan control setting (High,...

Hi All, had my first experience with ice 101 at wedding. Used large ice blocks and loose ice cubes. when i tested it out at the venue early it looked amazing and very low to the ground. Very impressed, but when i used it for the wedding dance the effect was completely different. it was very loose and rising high. all the settings and the same amount of ice was used. I also made sure the aircon was turned of and no extra draft coming into the venue. Disappointed! Is there a logical...

Stage Setter 8 causing flickering at low values?! Requesting assistance/advice!

Hey, first post here! I have a Stage Setter 8 running 8 PAR56s and 2 PAR64s on 2 DP-415s, and then 2 PAR64s and 1 PAR56 on a DP-DMX20L. The 3 cans on the DP-DMX20L I have on channels 11,12,13 on the Stage Setter. Everything has been running perfectly up until this morning, when I turned the units on and noticed a slight flickering on 11,12,13. At the maximum fader value, the flicking is not as noticeable and very fast, but when I turn the fader down to almost off, the flickering is very...

Martin, while a great company, does charge a lot for their products, as much as Vari-Lite and they are by no means on the same level as Vari-Lite. What a lot of people forget is that Martin originally started the same way as Elation did. They where a company who catered to the DJ crowd and slowly moved up to compete with Vari-Lite and High End. They have forgotten their roots however, as they still aren't on the same level as Vari-Lite but charge that much for their gear. I will take a...

Re: Scenes change to the music

floodstage ·
I've been playing around with trying to make the sound to lights usable for quite a while today I disconnected my mic and connected an Ipod instead to get away from any background noise triggering the lights I found that one of the issues was that the fade time was longer than the period between audio events and this was causing what seemed to be "spaz" triggering of the lights. I shortened the fade in time and now the lights go from one color to the next instead of skipping and "spazzing".

It is a low quality steper motor used to drive the mirror also a 16bit driver helps accuracy but is not part of most low cost lights.
