greetings if you are comfortable working on the unit the try the following: with the units unplugged open it up.. you will see a large PCB with multiple E-proms. make sure they are properly seated then retest.. if successful then close the unit up and enjoy if not then you may need to send it in for repair: for RMA requests email RMA @ELATION LIGHTING.COM

Thanks for your reply, Ela! I just got off the phone with support and they said something similar about the PCB and sent me a RMA request form. I'm curious though, since that repair sounds like something that I would feel comfortable trying, do you know if opening the unit would void my warranty and make it so that I could no longer send it in for an RMA repair?

To whom it may concern, The display PCB's have changed in time but it's the same operating system. It could be either a bad display or a bad PCB inside. If it's within the 2 year warranty your best bet would be to send it in for warranty repair. You can always send an email to rma@elationlighting.com to set you up with a RMA to send it in. If it's not under warranty anymore and if you have another working unit with the same color display, you can always start by trying to swap out the...

I can't. Im at the tire shop putting new ones on the work van. Just happened to have the store laptop with me and an ethernet cable. Otherwise I'd be stuck watching Christy Yamagoochie on the only TV station they get in this place. HAHAHA! But yes, seems the 2 options are either a low profile up-light from the crown molding along the sides, (traditionally churches put florescent bulbs here), or some sort of tiny can(or long thin) fixture on each beam washing down on the congregation.

Lighting doesn't just light. It helps set the mood and accents the room as well. Movement is also a part of lighting, and with it adds another dimension. I have done a ton of shows which I just have movers slowly moving around the room for glow and effect, other times just changing and shooting gobos on different targets for effect like this: Sorry for photo quality, camera phone. Is there a low voltage fader that could be used instead of toggles? Can I get that through the suppliers or does Radio Shack have them? I want to keep it small as possible. I'm on vacation and will be back in the routine in a week.

Re: Compu Live Question

No you can't use faders with the Compu Box. It simply senses the momentary closing of the switch to change the presets, it will not allow you to manually fade. You can get the low voltage buttons at Radio Shack, and MAYBE they can order the 10 pin IDC connector.

Ok, I tried using that toolbar and still, the scenes are not fading. They are just changing abruptly as if I took a dimmer switch and just flipped it to high or low. Also, I am using the 1024EC.

Re: DMX Operator Pro and MIDI

crazzydrummer ·
Thanks John. I wish I could step up to the showdesigner, but at that point, I would just get the 1024FC and have the timeline ability. Basically, I am only running 8 channels of pars, 4 scanners, and 4-6 LED PARS's so both the software and the showdesigner 1 are way overkill for as little as I have. Plus, fundage is pretty low. So I guess we are back to the 3 questions: Can you select par scenes/chases independent to moving light scene/chases? Can they be selected this way with MIDI as well?

I've been asked to jump since I did a LOT of testing with MyDMX and MIDI and had documentable and repeatable results. Issue 1: Does MyDMX respond to MIDI triggers? Yes, it does. This has been resolved and in the latest version, you can use MIDI triggering, so we can just move forward from that. Issue 2: How easy is it to trigger MyDMX? Well, it really depends. Overall, the answer is yes, since most people are going to use MIDI NOTE ON commands for triggering scenes. Once a triggers are...

You don't need Antari brand fluid. All fog/haze machines will tell you to use their brand of fluid. The truth is if you buy a good quality fluid thats been filtered, it will work just fine. In the case of your machine you want water based fluid. I get my fluid from http://www.froggysfog.com . They make very good fluid and have both fast dissipating and a "haze" fluid that will stay in the air a little longer. You will notice that the manual for the X-310 says to use Antari FLG fluid, DO NOT...

Re: Haze question.

Nope, the Chauvet machine is a fog machine that they call a hazer, kind of like the X-310 is a "Fazer". I'm sure you know this but in case you don't, a machine that heats up water based fluid and sprays it out like fog is a fog machine. If you add a fan to it and run it at low output, then you can call it a hazer but, its still a glorified fogger. A true haze machine uses a compressor to fill the oil fluid with air and allow the particles to "float". Froggy's water based haze formula is made...

Re: Opto Branch

It all depends on the type of voltage being passed through the cable. If it’s low voltage say 8-40VDC, you’d probably never experience more than a single driver going out. If it’s high voltage, then there is a chance that both drivers on the same output could go with the possibility of losing other components within the output circuit.

Please, write an entire chapter on the audio analysis and anything to do with sound to lights. It's not adequately covered in the manual. One thing that would be nice is for the audio analysis to not reset every time you open it. If I change the sensitivity from automatic to manual and adjust the level on it, it would be nice if the settings would save and be there when I open the audio analysis the next time. I think Elation underestimates how important sound to light is on the software...

Check the hours on the lamp first. If it is up there, then it is most likely a lamp. If it is low hours, then it might be the lens. There was a bad batch that went out in which the lenses where discoloring, actually a couple topics on here about it. It also features a blue LED fluid indicator, as soon as fluid levels are low it starts to blink telling you to add more fluid. And to be clear the X-310II is mainly a fog machine producing a haze-type effect. A haze machine runs continous, the minute you turn on a hazer the compressor starts and you...

i forgot to post about your ground fog. Typically what you need to do is cool down fog as quick as possible. The reason many are so expensive is because they quick cooling airconditioning system in a portable machine. So all fog can be ground fog. many people would put dry ice in a foam cooler and blow fog through one end and let the cooled down fog just flow out the other end, but that gets pretty messy and I've heard dry ice can be dangerous to handle. So the invention of low lying foggers...

Oh, forgot about the ground fog myself as well. Sorry. I have two different types of ground fog units, an Antari ICE-101 and an Aquafogger 3300. Now, speaking from experience, the only way you are going to get real low-lying fog is via dry ice. Fog chillers aren't nearly as good. The ICE-101 is a fogger with a chiller. The fog sticks to the ground, but as soon as someone or something moves through it or the wind blows, it turns into fog, meaning it raises up and stops hugging the ground. The...

It is the extreme end of the spectrum with regards to low-lying foggers. They do make a 220v version, but 120v is easier for me since sometimes I don't have the ability to tap and get 208. Thus ,I have the 120v version. Only reason I bring up dry ice is because some people get fog...

Getting the fixture profiles installed on the M260 is a good start. Hopefully you chose profiles that used less than 16 DMX channels. If you profiles with a higher number of channels you will need to redo the installation with profiles with 16 or less channels. If you want to keep things simple for now, I'd suggest that you use a low - maybe even the lowest - number of channels for each fixture. You mentioned 20 fixtures and said you had others. The M260 can control up to 24 fixtures or 24...

The wheels are sending MIDI notes for up and down clicks, so they appear as up and down buttons to most software programs. This latest software update also addresses some low level USB functions so it requires reprogramming the MIDIcon CPU chip. If anyone wants to try just adding the wheel update to...

Re: Midicon firmware update

The reason for the factory update rather than over USB is that some of the low level USB firmware needed to be changed. The testing for the MIDIcon was all done with faster machines running XP so the problem never showed up. XP eats up more processor time than Win7 servicing MIDI. If your dealer does repair, it should be possible to get him the programming tool quickly so he can update your machine.

You can run about 10 panels in one DMX universe. Take a look at the You Tube video on the product page: http://www.americandj.com/Prod...nId=2&Category=L.E.D .
