Re: need to know???

Jingles, Unfortunately the scan library editor does not allow you to create multiple RGB channels to use in the color wheel. The profile I have emailed you, while not perfect, is probably the best way to control this fixture (it is an unusual channel configuration).

Re: Design Spot 250 colour wheel

Yes, we do have a new theatrical DS250 color wheel. The part number is DS250CW2. To determine what the best way to replace it on your specific fixture and to order the part, please give a call to Elation Service at 866.245.6726. Very soon, we plan to have 2 different fixture models for the change in color wheel.

Hi Toby, I think your question was more in lines of a color wheel with replaceable colors. This was suppose to happen to the Design Spot 250. However as it stands this feature will not be available with the current Design Spot 250. We have talks of a Design Spot 250LX which may be available by LDI in November. Best regards, John Lopez

Re: White Balance issues

Discharge lamps will always operate at a higher color temp then halogens. You need to use the color correction filter on the color wheel (if the fixture has one) and warm up the color temp to 3250k-3050k to match your S4's. What elation fixture are you using.... we don't have a product just named Color Wash. Thanks!

Hi Level, I'm not sure what you mean by RGB color wheels? As color wheel and RGB color mixing are two different color options. For the Color wheel you have a group of color buttons. For RGB color mixing you have a color pick pallet for color picking. where you can click on the exact color you want. If this is what your refering to then you must be pressing the button rearangement icons at the top of the page. You must be in compression mode for the color pick pallet to show. Here is a small ...

Hi Evolution. RSER This message informs you that one of the fixture function wasn’t able to do its reset correct (magnetic sensor, stepping motor, driver on the PCB, cables, etc.). Repair the defect and start the fixture again. When a fixture starts up, it goes through a calibration process to make sure all system are good. It tests every motor to make sure it works. So the light has a color wheel motor, gobo wheel motor, shutter/dimmer motor, pan motor, tilt motor etc. etc. One of these...

Lopez, Don't know how much field experiance you have had with elation lights but yes, we are referring to position correction. The little sensor that elation uses for all of its position correction... moving heads position correction, gobo homing, color homing, proton color wheel homing...fail from high humitity. Most elation users that are 5 or less miles from the ocean will be extremely effected. Especailly if there is no outdoor housing for the light. The salty air will destroy the sensor...

You might want to check the sensor on the actual pan which is located inside the base of the fixture.Like you said when its upside down it shakes and when its upright it doesnt, that sounds like the pan stopper with the magnet on it by the pan wheel is either loose or out of place you might need to adjust The fastner. I called ADJ and the guy on the phone didn't know much. He said it was color mixing because of the RGB leds? I said that the specs say one 20W white LED...he said "I know." That's when I knew he didn't! If you look at the demo there is no color mixing going on...it's a color wheel turning. I will definitely have a look when it comes out just to see the brightness.

Power Spot 575 vs Design Spot 575. It really depends on what features you need. CMY, frost, zoom, animation wheel, iris, and dual rotating gobo wheels can be very useful and powerful tools. The question is do you need them? That is something you have to weigh out for yourself. Power Spots also don't come in a white form, only the DS line does. I can say from my stand point, I use iris a lot do to the nature of shows I do. So every mover I own has to have one. I can also say that the PS 575IE...

Frank, The Magic 260 will only run a maximum of 16 channels per fixture. Do these lights have the capability of running in a different mode with less channels? As for the "format error", make sure that you do not use any channel names more than once (for example, if you have more than one color wheel, name one as color 1 and the next as color 2). Also check all your steps and make sure that you are not overlapping any channel values. Hope this helps

Re: Multiple Shutters

You can grab some barn doors for the LED fixtures if you get something like Opti RGBs or Opti Tri Pars. Beam shapers will give some of that control, but not like shutters or barn doors will. Maybe a dealer in your area or someone who has some fixtures can demo say a DW250 or any light with a beam shaper for you to show you what exactly the beam shaper does. It might give you the control you need. Can't hurt to look. Cheapest fixture with shutters would be a Revolution. Personally however, I...

There are a couple things to check when it comes to getting a tilt error. Make sure that the wire harness coming from the board to the Optical Sensor/ Magnetic Sensor/ Motor all have continuity. Make sure that the decoder wheel is lined up in the center of the Optical Sensor. Clear any debris (Belt/ Dust) in the decoder wheel.

Re: Design Spot 250 Pro: Changing Lenses and Gobos

Hey Butters, and welcome to the forums. Changing the gobos is real easy. The non-rotating wheel just basically slide in and out on little retaining clips. The rotating wheel is a little harder. The whole rotating assembly pops out and then slides out. You then need to pull out the spring which holds the gobo in place. Replace your gobo, replace the spring, slide back into place, and snap it back in. Good to go. I can post photos of the rotating assembly if you like, the description is a...

This is something odd, but I'll post it anways. I recently acquired 4 ADJ Mega Bar 50's, and 4 Mega Panels. The Mega Bars still provide a somewhat "round" beam, at least in distance. Close up they definately wash wide. I had a bit of a time focusing these at a recent event. The Mega Panels, despite being rectangular, do provide a relatively round "beam". Bang for the buck, low power consumption, and size/weight of the fixture are next on the list. Going from 64 lb fixtures to 28 lb that performs similar will be a great help. I can live without CMY, but zoom would be nice. CMY would be the next feature I would want followed by another rotating and animation wheel. Then its a DS 575...

Gines, I tried everything you said. The magnet was still present (looked just like the one on the good light), but I decided to try swapping them anyway. After the swap, both fixtures behaved exactly like they did before. So, I know the magnetic sensor is good. The harness going from the sensor to the PCB is basically impossible to really trace back to the PCB b/c all the yellow, brown and orange wires are tie-wrapped with many other sensor wires (of the same color) going back to the PCB.

Re: Changing gobos on E-Spot

Please understand, I know the process of making both metal and glass gobos, that is not the issue. My question remains, since there was absolutely no reference whatsoever in the manuals we received, what is the physical process of changing a gobo in the E-Spot. When I first looked online, I noticed that people working with similar Elation fixtures mentioned removing the entire Gobo wheel. While that might be an option with a 250 series spot, it doesn't appear that the E-Spot works that way.

Hello Jake, Yes both of these fixtures have two gobo wheels. The Design spot 575 has two rotating gobo wheels and a animation wheel. The Design spot 300 has one rotating and one static gobo wheel's. They cannot be shuttered like an ellipsoidal with the shutters. The shutters are simply a dual flag shutter system. You can maybe try to get creative with some of the gobo's shapes. Just an idea. If you have any other questions please let us know. Sincerely,

Getting the fixture profiles installed on the M260 is a good start. Hopefully you chose profiles that used less than 16 DMX channels. If you profiles with a higher number of channels you will need to redo the installation with profiles with 16 or less channels. If you want to keep things simple for now, I'd suggest that you use a low - maybe even the lowest - number of channels for each fixture. You mentioned 20 fixtures and said you had others. The M260 can control up to 24 fixtures or 24...
