Re: Venue Issue

jarrell ·
Hey James thank you for everything. Our show tonight went off without a hitch. The only thing that I can bring attention to is when you turn on the emulation program for the first time to get full control of the Venue LEDs you have to max the dimmer, max a color, and then max out the strobe and bring the strobe back down to 0 to gain control over the LEDs. It works for now but thought you would find it interesting.

Re: Venue Issue

Hey James, There are a few problems still with the venue profile that do not allow me to control certain functions. When I boot emulation I do not have control over the Venue LEDs until I max the beam on every fixture and then strobe the fixtures to 255 to 0. After that process I can then control the fixtures. Also the second problem that I have run into is when I use the strobe global function. The LEDS will continue to strobe after I have stopped pressing the button. The only way that I...

How long have you have this controller? You might have some options available. Not to slam Elation or any other company, but there has YET to be a product I've ever seen in a 1.0 release that hasn't had some sort of major issues. In fact, almost any release, especially a major release ending in a ".0" has had issues. This goes for Ascend, Cisco, Linksys, USRobotics, 3Com, UTStarcomm and many other products. Here's what I would do, assuming the rules in Belgium are similar to here: If you've...

Would an error on the tilt motor (RSER)stop the manual dmx inputs from working? In manual dmx input mode, I am only able to set the value on the laser channel only, the rest will only change 1 step, usually from 255 to 0 or 254 but no where in between. Test function operates steppers correctly except tilt.

you don't really need to click the color snap button. the wheel should snap by default as that channel will have a dmx output of 0. Verify the channel value for the color snap and split channel and let me know. Sincerely,

Looking at the profile, channel 17 is 0-19 for color snap, 20 to 29 for split colors, and 30 to 39 for color gobo any. If I want the color to "snap" from white to yellow, I need to hit the snap button( 0-19) in my software program right?

Ok. Someone in our service dept will test probably Monday. Also but if channel 17 is at dmx value of 0 the colors and gobo's should all snap.

Re: help with building a matrix

wheresjc ·
OK Here goes. As of the last beta of CompuShow I tested, the profile editor still did not allow for a fixture to have multiple R, G, or B slots. Therefor, you can patch a matrix with the full profile but the effects will only work for pixel 1. (Very few console manufacturers have this capability built in to their consoles as of yet.) Build a Matrix of 3 Channel RGB Units. It can be handy to open a 3 channel LED fixture profile in the PROFILE EDITOR and name it Pixel and save it as Pixel.

I don't have any experience with this light, but according to the manual the dimmer function is between 0 - 64 (the first quarter of the slider). Don't expect the slider to do anything between 0-64 unless you have set the values on Channels 2 - 4 (Red, Green, Blue) to some above 0. So set Channels 2 -4 to numbers that produce the color you want to generate. Then use the first quarter of the Ch 1 slider to set the intensity. Once you get past 63 on the CH 1 slider will ignore your...

Re: SD3 Issue

With LTP subs, the channels that are included in the scene will change and any channels not included will be unaffected. When you first build the scene, make sure every channel you need is in the scene. You can do this by first clearing out all channels (hold down black). That way you know that what you see will be included when you save the scene. If a channel is set to snap after fade, it will change color or whatever it does only when the sub fader reaches the top. If the fader doesn't...

Figured it out. When the scene buffer is cleared values of 0 are treated as unused and if the next program uses something that had a zero, it adds it to the current scene. Just raising all values first and then setting them back to 0 and setting your scene keeps this from happening.

I'm glad you figured it out. One other thing to remember is if you turn on "solo" the sd3 will send 0 to all unused channels otherwise it ignores them.

You've got some creative and good approaches to handling you show. Naming something would be important. Assuming you are talking about a M260 a way to solve your problem is to make a Show for every Scene [a Show can consist of only one Scene]. You would need to name the Show only once and could change the Scene(s) of that Show all you want and the name of the Show would stay the same. Yes, you can control dimmer packs with scene buttons on the M260. I've only worked with the Elation DP-415, but I'd bet all DPs work the same way in this respect. The DP-415 has four channels, one for each of the four power outlets. As you probably already know, if you connect your dimmer pack to the M260 and set it to "listen" on channel 261, when you press AUX 1 on the M260 outlet 1 on the DP will turn on. If you press the AUX 2 button, outlet 2 will come on, and so on. In the above...

Hi Zap, Welcome to the forums. I don't think it will do all at once simply because it is not really the console doing the RDMX it is the fixtures. The fixtures are listening for only their first three channel to be within the values I posted above and I believe that if any other channel after 3 is on a value higher than 0 it will not bee seen as a RDMX command. Does that make sense? Sincerely,

Some say not to plug any fixture with a transformer into a dimmer box. But I've used the M260 connected to a DP415 (in switching mode) to turn on and off both an Agressor and a quad phase with no problems. The M260 manual does not say use channel 264. It says that the Aux buttons use channels 261-264, e.g., Aux1 uses ch 261 and Aux4 uses channel 264. When an Aux button is on it sends out a 255 DMX signal (Full ON) on its assigned channel; and when the Aux button is off it sends out a 0 DMX...

Pat, The manual isn't particularly clear on this point. Give this a try: Set the DMX channel of all the Group 1 fixtures to 1, Group 2 to 17, Group 3 to 33 and Group 4 to 49. Now, assuming all the fixtures in each group are the same kind of fixture as the other fixtures in that group, you will be able to control each group as you would like. For example, if all your fixtures were simple 4 channel fixtures (red, green, blue, brightness), when you select Fixture 1 (from the left bank of 12...

Re: SD2 show playback and moving lights

Add mode only applies to playback not recording. If your scenes are causing the pan and tilt to change, then those are included in the scene. Try clearing the scene buffer by holding "black" then open dimmers and shutters, set a color and save that in a scene. As long as you are in add mode the pan and tilt should not change when you call the scene. If you are in solo mode, unused channels like pan and tilt will go to 0.

Re: Stellar Lab Par56 with no Dimmer or Blackout Channels

I think it might depend on how you are using them. If you are only using the RGB channels, you might try setting these up as conventional dimmers instead of self contained fixtures. You would need to make sure the other two channels are left at 0. When using as self contained fixtures as you are now, the RGB channels will run LTP mode so they will not follow the intensity of a HTP playback fader. The HTP playback fader only works if you have a master dimmer channel on the light. In version...

not sure who told you to set them all to 1, because this is wrong. The program will not address the lights for you, you need to manualy address the fixtures. So, for example, in the first box say they are all in RGB mode, you would set the first pair to both be "1" then set the next pair to be channel "4" then the next pair to be "7" so on and so forth...then, in Compu, once all of the address are set, you would load the profile for what ever profile light you have and patch how ever many...
