stage setter 8 not controlling dimmer pack

wilywelch ·
I use the stage setter 8 along with 2 elation dimmer packs. Recently I lost control to the dimmer packs. I have checked my cables and they are good. When I turn on the SS8 it shows dmx control at the dimmer pack briefly and shuts off. It flashes very fast and goes out. I have reset the board several times with no luck. I will admit, I had to go in and replace the fuse in the SS8 and may have loosened the ribbon cable. Looks like the ribbon cable could be put on in several combinations. Does...

Design Spot 250 Pro Trouble - Two Units

ericjvanpyrz ·
Hi there, I've done some browsing on here, and seen a posting similar to what is happening to one of my two faulty DSpot 250 Pro units, I tried the same fix recommended there, but it didn't seem to help... One of my units, when powered, turns on the display and fans, but no motors run (despite the screen saying "Motor Reset"), nothing moves on the unit, and the screen doesn't indicate that it detected an error. I opened the cover plate and replaced the fuses on the PCB board (as suggested in...

Elation DP-415 DMX Dimmer Problems‏

dontmakemeregister ·
Hello, I recently purchased an Elation DP-415 DMX Dimmer off of Amazon. I am new to this whole DMX thing and there's not a lot of information about this specific dimmer on the internet (aside from product manuals). Basically what is happening is that the channel (channel 1) green LED isn't turning on or blinking despite having stuff plugged into it. I've tried a regular lamp (both switch mode and dimmer mode) along with an LED RGB strip with DMX (using dimmer mode). When plugging it into the...

Power Spot 575 Issue....No power

gfuller2000 ·
Hi guys,(Gines) I have 2 PowerSopt 575s , Sat Night one of them just turned off...It did blow the fuse, which I changed, but it still won't power up..doesn't even blow the new fuse.Is this typical of these units? Maybe Transformer? or would it blow something internal before that? They are a bit pricy on line, so I hate to get one if that mignt not be it? Thanks...GARY

shorted out the fuse on the pcb.

Re: dmx operator 192 went dead!!!

it would be burnt or blown, not shorted... It doesn't necessarily have to be a fuse though. Have you check the power supply? Maybe something internally fried when you disconnected the light. Most likely need to have it sent in. -Homeboy

What's up Jimbo, I can't believe this happened to you. how did you put the USB light backwards? Anyhow, you can open it up and take a closer look at the inards, just don't try to do a service job on it. Take a look at what may be wrong, if anything is burnt, smell it and or look for a fuse. If its burnt, you will need to send it in.

Re: dmx operator 192 went dead!!!

elationpro ·
The problem is, once you try to fix your self, then no more warranty, However since you plugged in the USB backwards, most likley that is not covered in the warranty either. But it may not just be one part, maybe its a few things that were damaged? Maybe its just a fuse? Its better to send it in. Best regards,

Re: Dimmer Pack / Par Can question

serraava ·
No, it would. Why did you divide by two? You can use 500w or 600w lamps just fine. Though when they blow out, it can take the fuse with the lamp. Not uncommon. Also be aware that 120v is best case scenario. Worst would be something like 100v or 700w.

Re: Elation Design Spot 250 Bulbs Need Help Now

serraava ·
How many hours on the lamp? It might be do to replace. The leads are just long enough to arc, but to short to maintain the arc by the sounds of it. If the ballast/a fuse was at fault, it wouldn't strike/flicker at all. The hard part for the ballast is making the arc, not maintaining the arc, that's much easier on it.

The lights have about 80 hrs or maybe a little more on them. I have opened the lights up a couple times but I dont know where the "Ballast" would be and how I would tell if it was that or a fuse or what? Any type of matinance assistance help would be much appriciated. Thanks D

Re: Dimmer Pack heating

I wouldn't worry about a full load of Par38's as that's a maximum of 150-watts/Par38. I'd worry more about full load to breaker/fuse capacity. Chances are this won't be something to worry about. If the fixture have room to ventilate, the pack will be fine as well.

Re: Need help with DP-DMX4B

Wow, that's some interesting information to be made aware of. I've seen plenty of lamps burn out or blow, but never seen them blow a fuse or pop a breaker at the same time. Blow out situation: Low-hung lights around a wrestling ring and action had a guy bump a fixture pretty hard and the lamp blew(didn't break, must have jostled the element too hard), and that Par56 went POP. Dimmer still working(I know, it was mine, used it a short time later at a wedding. Light and lamp were not mine...

Re: Need help with DP-DMX4B

Its fairly common for lights to take out fuses or trip breakers when they blow. If you have ever seen one blow, it gets really bright before it goes out. That added surge is what causes the trip or blown fuse. It also makes it easy for me to tell when something blows out, because my eyes are drawn to changes in light, especially sudden ones like that. It is looking more and more like a console/patching thing. When you run up channel one on the console, what two channels on the pack come on?

Re: Need help with DP-DMX4B

studio42 ·
I know what you're talking about, the sudden surge. Of course, in my case, the Par56 was pointed at me, but I do recall it getting brighter right before it popped. I suppose since the fixture was rated far below the fuse, that's probably why it didn't blow the fuse. In your case, you're using better stuff, but probably closer to the fuse's rating. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that practice because that's what the gear is designed for. The poster is using a DMX Operator, so it can't...

Re: DP-DMX20L Question

I see where you're going. I still prefer proper plugs for proper circuits. But, my KV2 Audio EPack 2500's do require 20-amps but they terminate at the amp pack in a 20-amp Nema twistlock, while the other end is a male 15-amp Edison, and that's how they ship from the factory. If you don't like it, they ship you a male 20-amp twistlock to match it. Personally, I'd rather make pigtails for my 20-amp capable items to go into 15-amp plugs. But, in one case, it's cheaper to get 20-amp twistlocks...

First off thanks for the help so far... I bought it used and i'm not using a dmx setup, just the remote... would that matter? i was under the impression it should still work without the dmx and just with the remote. What is the pcb? i assume it's the computer board? I took off the side panels but doesn't look like i can access the computer board just the switches and pump. Re: Using MIDI on a Cyber Pak

It is really irritating that the burden of scanning the MIDI chart is on the consumer here, and that customer service does not even seem to have access to the manual. Does anyone who works at elation even understand what this thing does? On top of this, mine already has a fried circuit (or something, def not blown fuse) after a couple weeks of use, so the 2nd channel is totally non-functional... really wanted to love this thing, but it's off to a rocky start

Re: stage setter - Audio Line Input does not work

skipperho ·
Hello, yes - my expectatios is, as written in the manual, that if there is a signal at the chinch connector, the system uses this, if not it uses the internal microphone. But it seems that it is not working. But what I still can check is if it works with the internal microphone. Is a fuse or something simliar in, so that the chinch connector is not working properly? Thanks Horst

If it is doing that, and you have checked the fuse then it could be a triac that has gone bad. You are welcome to send the pack back to us and we can repair for you. If you would like to do so, please email me at JoelChen@americandj.com. Thanks

Re: Elation DP-415 DMX Dimmer Problems‏

JWPardee (Guest) ·
first, your LED strip needs a dedicated power source, if you run it through the dimmer it will burn out the components inside of it. The "flash" you are seeing is the light trying to power up but does not have enough power to do so. The dimmer pack should ONLY have conventional lights plugged into it (par cans, source 4s, etc) anything with computer components needs a constant power supply (power at all times) then your DMX signal will tell the light to turn the LEDs on or off If it was a...

No, I haven't tried a booster, but I have tried doing extremely short runs to troubleshoot any problems with no luck. (I hate to hijack this thread, but...) My main problem right now is I have 4 pro bars, 2 of which I'm using them for the dimmer. The other 2 are currently used to mount a couple LED bars, the dimmers are unused. After many months (years?) of experiencing the problem of flashing (which for me is only occurs on one Pro Bar) I decided to swap it out with one of the "unused"...

Fuze wash LED's not working

So I have four Z350's, eight Z120's, and ten Z175 Pars. All of these lights are right at 2 years old now. This past week I have 2 lights doing the same thing and I can't figure out why. Could totally be user error. One of the Z350's and 1 of the Z175 Pars are working normally EXCEPT they will not "strike" or emit any light at all. They both zoom (you can hear it) and the 350 pans and tilts just fine. Everything works except the LED chips. Got any ideas? Console is a MagicQ PC with a Maxi...

ADJ DP-415R blown fuse behavior?

Hello - fairly new to lighting; have been using a variety of DMX-controlled LED fixtures for a while and recently bought this dimmer pack to control some standard lamps as part of a stage setup. Problems straight out of the box - anything plugged into channels 1, 2 or 4 turned on immediately, regardless of whether unit was powered on via switch. Anything plugged into channel 3 was off. LED panel appears to work as designed (able to switch modes, set channel behaviors, etc.). Completely...

KL6 Flashing

Greetings all, I have been struggling with trouble shooting an issue. The system is made up of Enodes, optos, multiple runs and universes, with moving head fixtures and static lighting. 98% sure this all boils down to the KL6's on this system. the issue is flashing(loss of DMX) happens about every 45 minutes and all the fixture on the chain would either flash or react. The chain in question(originally) is a Downstage bar made up of 10 KL6's, 10 WW profile's, and 2 Satura Profiles. Using a...

This is definitely a rest switch that is recessed when the unit is working properly, then pops out to "flush" when the is a short. It has a fuse next to it that looks OK. And another fuse that seems to protect the lamp itself. It has never been used, and is a beautiful instrument.
