Sorry for the confusion...let me try again. I am trying to have the 2 fixtures mirror each others movement. When I set them up both facing the same direction LED front facing the audience and the cables out the back. I reversve the pan & tilt on 1 of the fixtures (so that it mirrors the other) it then rotates 90degrees off. I have to physically rotate the base of the fixture 90 degrees to get the moving heads to mirror each other (which they do). But now I have the bases facing different...

That's what I was thinking you were doing. The Design spot 250's have 2 different pan rotation settings. 1 is 540 degrees 2 is 630 degrees I believe they are set to 630 degrees from us here at the factory. this 630 degree pan setting makes alot of things not match very well. So look for the degr setting on your fixtures and set them both to 540 degree's. See how that works for you. Best regards,

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

lemonjello ·
thanks for your reply, so far I can control all 8 pods on one "fixture" second group on 2nd "fixture". is there any way to assign one pod to one fixture? the magic has 24 fixture buttons so theoretically could it be programmed channel 1-6 as fixture 1; 7-12 as fixture 2, etc? it seems pretty logical. According to dmx language or does the pixel drive override this? in 48 channel mode it allows for this, 6 ch per pod. Anyone else with experience or info?

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

elationpro ·
Hi Lemon, Yes.. right now, you can control each pod individually. if you use the 48 ch. mode. So each pod will be 6 channels each. So pack 1 will start at 001 pack 2 will start at 049 pack 3 will start at 097 Ch 1 is rainbow ch 2 red ch 3 green ch 4 blue ch 5 strobe ch 6 chase If you use ch 6 to engage a chase of which you have 8 chases. ch 1 becomes speed time, and ch2 becomes fade time.

Welcome to the forums! For the dimmer packs, whatever address you set it to (129 for your example) tells you all the address for each light. light one will be 129 and light 2 will be 130, 4 - 131, 5 - 132. so just use the faders (channels 129 - 132) to turn on the par cans. Make Sense? For the ADJ Accu Spot 250 II's, I'm not entirely sure how to do what your thinking but what I would suggest is to set some scenes and just recall your scenes. Set the first light to the left of the runway and...

Fader 129 is turning on both of the lights, and fader 130 doesn't do anything. I know the next thing u guys might say is check what outlet im plugging the par can...

@JPal Congrats on getting you accu spots working. now for the dimmer pack. This particular pack has 3 modes (as you already know) 1 channel, 2 channel, and 4 channel. Here is how they work: 1 Channel This setting allows all the lights plugged into the pack to be turned on/off using one channel. Meaning that if you set your pack to 1 channel mode and the address is at A129, when you turn on that fader all the lights will come on. 2 Channel This setting allows the four channels to be turned on...

I'll use sound mode if I have to, But I thought it would be cool to be able to have DMX control. I noticed no one has responded to this ssl request... does that mean It ain't happenin? This is an easy one guys. create a profile in the 4 ch mode. ch. 1 = mode.. do you want to be in pattern mode or chase mode. You can select this using ch1. Ch. 2 = the pattern or chase your secting. Ch. 3 = speed of either the pattern or chase. you need to select this after you select a pattern or chase. ch. 4 = dimmer.. if you don't have the dimmer on full then you wont see any pattern or chase. The 10 Ch mode is confusing.. I put a call into the ADJ pros and waiting to here back. Best regards,

Re: Magic 260 Issues

serraava ·
I thought I made that clear in my first post that the issue is with the Magic, not the lights themselves. It could be that the auto correct and the Magic don't get along, who knows. I just know that general channel personalites work fine, or I have to off-set the channel count by 2 so the lights don't pan randomly with the Power Spot personalites. The lights themslves have no issues.

Oh man I can't tell you how much I laughed at that! Ok anyways, DMX, it really is a cool thing. Here are some basics. DMX stands for D igital M ultiple X . It is a way for each and every (DMX Compatible ) light, made by any manufacturer, to interact with an universal DMX controller. In a standard DMX protocol (called 512-DMX protocol) there are a total of 512 "channels" In order to get your lights to interact with the controller, you must address them. There are 2 ways (that I know of) that...

Dear Ben, All Elation lighting fixtures are covered with a 2 year limited warranty that cover “manufactures defects”. The nature of the problem with your lights is not a manufacturers defect, it is corrosion cause by salty air near the ocean. This is caused with any lighting fixture not IP 65 Rated. In your case the installation was indoors, yet was proven to have been damaged as if they were mounted outdoors. Neither you, the installer nor Elation could have predicted such an outcome...

I apologize in advance for the very long and off topic post I am about to post. SCR dimmers work by chopping the sine wave of AC. This is how they 'dim'. AC is a wave. DC is a line. Now when power is created, is is created by a magnet spinning in a coil at 60 times per second, thus 60hz AC. This is how and why the wave is created. The little sine wave above, the start as 0 degrees, the first peak point as 90 degrees, the next mid point as 180 degrees, and the bottom peak point is 270 degrees...

The problem sounds like the chase is effecting the channels your strobe is on. You need to edit the chases so they only include the PAR channels. Not sure how to do it on the SS8. Look at your manual. If you still can't figure it out or you are confused, drop another line and I will try and help you out. A strobe isn't really an intelligent fix, just easier to control with an intelligent controller is all. Should see some of the crazy things I have to do. For example, I am running an all LED...

Jingles is correct that it is in the impedance of the cables. DMX is 110 ohms standard. The protocol also calls for 5 pin cable, when it only uses 3 wires. It was made 5 pin originally for expansion, so you could have 2 pairs running down one cable, or for other data of some sort. DMX is dieing however, so it will never be expanded to use the extra pins. Also, for longer runs, Jingles is right that you should only use DMX. You can however start to see problems with mic cable vs DMX at any...

How is it determined that problems are caused by manufacturer defects VS. wear & tear? The fader I'm having a problem with has barely been used, and the bumps that have lost their spring are the ones hardly used as well. BUT how can I prove this? What might potentially be the labor cost for repair of these? Now I'm thinking that in addition to the shipping costs it might not be worth sending it back for repairs... It is kinda hard to explain. You push it up and it hits 100 then jumps back and forth between 30 and 100. Does that make sense? We just need another one. Abhi, Don't sweat it. you don't need a personality.. especially if you don't know what light you have. use 32 DMX channel fixture. It will give you 32 channels to use, but you only need to use 2 of them on 1 fixture and 9 channels on the other. From this point all you need to do is modify the fixture, and say it only uses 2 channels or 9 channels.. and you can rename the fixture to the name of the fixture you actually have. This is the best way for you buddy, Best regards,
