Rick welcome to the forums. if you want to run dmx led lights on the S.S. 24 you are really gonna need a larger controller. you CAN use DMX lights with the S.S. 24 but are limited to only 24 channels. each dmx led par is about 5 dmx channels. which means 4 of those leds if you like them to be run individually will take up about 20 dmx channels. if you give me your email i can send you a PDF document about the basics and how to run DMX. my email is jamesk AT Elation lighting DOT COM so send...

Rick, What channel is the DP-415 address to? If using sliders 5-8 then it should be set to dip switch 1 and 3 on. Also on the Scene Setter 24 you can change the output channel for each slider. Have any of the sliders been changed to control different channels? If so, you can reset them by holding the record button and tapping flash button 7 three times, while in record mode.

Now I get it. To get channel 5 i need to dip switch 1 and 3 which equals 5. DUH So if I add another DP-415 I need to dip switch 1 and 4 to equal 9. It's all starting to make sense now. Thanks again for your help Sergio

Ok... after reading through the forum (which is awesome) last night for a couple of hours I think I figured it out... 1. Set the first DP-415 to read channel 1 2. Set the second DP-415 to start reading at channel 5 3. Set the first group (Back wash) of Color Wash light to read channel 9 (Master/Slave mode) 4. Set the second group (Back lights) of Color Wash lights to read channel 13 (Also Master/Slave mode) Is this right? Am I even close?

You know, I looked all over the place in the new user manual and could not find a disclosure. Past user manuals had this, and It should be in the current user manual. Please read carefully the following preventive measures carefully: 1. Place a DMX insulator between interface and DMX fixtures (e.g. DMX branch 4, Opto Branch 4) in order to protect them both from any interference and from overvoltage. 2. We advise you to have an available spare RS485 driver IC. This is an 8 pin electronic IC...

thanks everyone. I am going to really dig deep into the mydmx software tonight. I am fairly familiar with the compuware software so I hope it isn't to different. I would still like to have a couple questions answered about the operator pro though: Can you independently choose par scenes/chases from moving light scenes/chases? Is this the case with MIDI as well? If so, doesn't that give you thousands of combinations to choose from via simple midi notes? i.e. this par scene with this moving...

Set the first DP 415 to channel 1 (dip switch 1 up) and the second to channel 5 (dip switches 1 and 3 up). That should take care of it. Then faders 1-4 will operate DP #1 and %-8 will operate DP #2

Sub pages are the fixture pages. Joel, to set up with the sub pages, just the use the fixture page for the dimmer packs on the house lights. I have the majority of my screen reserved for the master page, but the house box and the stage lights box are docked on the left side of the screen with just 4-5 small scene buttons each. Also, make sure your sub page for the house is not linked to the master page. Justin

My 1st questions is how exactly do you want to use them? When you say 7 controllers?? do you mean 7 Pixel Drive 80's or 7 control consoles? you have 51 strips in the cieling and 18 unused, so is that a total of 69? strips? 5 unused pixel drive 80's.. were those in the closet somewhere or installed in the cieling with no strips plugged into them. Help me out with some of these questions? Thanks,

Re: Design Spot 250 Focus issue

elationpro ·
Hi NHNaz, It's impossible to focus both at the same time. Since they are 5-8mm away from each other the focus lens can't adjust to both. The only way they can be focused at the same time would be if the gobos were right on top of each other. Having the gobos this way allows you to reach a focus in between. Also creating a scene focused on one gobo then switching and focusing to the next would be called Gobo morphing. Best regards,

First, I am a lighting professional. Second, there is a splitter towards the end of the chain. Regardless, my experiments have been conducted with in 5 feet of my controller. I simply unplugged my rig from my lightjockey dongle, ran a 5 foot dmx cable from my dongle to the pixel drive, and reconnected the rest of my rig to the pixel drive. So all I did was add the pixel drive to the beginning of the chain. As I said, it works fine as long as it is the only fixture in the chain. As soon as I...

Re: Opto Branch

I realize this is an old thread, but in talking with a pro lighting guy from Nashville last night, I've come to believe that both "tap" and "Elation_Pro" are incorrect about the Opto-Branch 4. 1. You CAN use the DMX Thru port to continue on to other DMX receivers, but standard DMX rules apply (no more than 32 devices on the line, terminate the last fixture on the link, etc). The splitter is just seen as a receiver on the line; nothing more or less. However, if something takes this line down,...

I have to agree with you stoke. If I had been on the forums when you wrote this, I would have posted otherwise. You are correct in that the thru port can be used to add other DMX devices, be it dimmers, movers, leds, or another split. You are also correct in that you can use both the 3 and 5 pin outputs in a pinch on the same 'branch'. I have done it myself a few times, but would not recommend it. It was a last minute add of some equipment and no time to get another split.

Re: Opto Branch

elationpro ·
2. The manual gives every indication that there are only 4 isolators in the unit, not 8. Therefore, using both the 3-pin and 5-pin connectors from a single output actually amounts to using a DMX Y, which is not allowed by DMX standard. This *might* work but could potentially introduce issues. This is a good observation.. I am running this up the flag pole with our engineers. Best regards,

Wow! This is my old thread. I did purchase this unit, and i HAVE used the "Thru" output, and doubled up on the 3 and 5 pin outs with absolutely NO PROBLEMS!!! This box is great because it allows me to split my fixture Stage left/right without having to run cross stage patches for my fixtures reducing the chances of somebody tripping on DMX cables!

Re: Opto Branch

elationpro ·
Here is an answer I recieved regarding the OPTO branch 4 In regards to the Opto Branch-4 and DMX Branch-4, it should be no problem to use all outputs at the same time. Yes, there are 4 opto-couplers that isolate each output but there are individual DMX drivers for each 3 & 5 pin XLR output connector… 8 total. So it is not the same as using a DMX “Y”.

Re: Opto Branch

studio42 ·
Wow, with effectively 8 outs, this really puts a lot of value into the box. I figured it would simply drive both the 5-pin and 3 pin connector, letting people choose what they needed. It's just opto-isolated in banks of 4, not 8. Cool deal.

Just adding my 2 cents here. 128mb of RAM is what the program wants, without Easy Show. The laptop I am typing this on right now has 4096mb (4 gigs) of RAM, and is currently using 34% of that, 1393mb of RAM. That is just Quickbooks, Anti-Virus Corporate (not bloated), Outlook minimized, and 2 windows of Firefox. That is more RAM then the computer you are using has total, and these are fairly simple, basic programs. If I clean boot windows and only have my anti-virus running, nothing else, I...

Mattrix, The T16F works a little different from the Dp-Dmx4B, so you'll need to assign each pack it's own address. The T16F uses 5 channels of DMX and is automaticaly assigned to channel 1 when placed in slave mode. Raising slider 1 to value 255 will allow you to have control of the 4 channels on the pack using sliders 2-5. The Dp-Dmx4B will need to start at channel 6 (dip switch 1,2 and 3 to the on position). You can assign the same address to the third dimmer pack and control them together...

Yes that's correct. and DMX is really a constant data stream anyways. there is a certain series binary of code every time the faders moves up or down to any given value and even a "0" value code. which is why you still get a dmx signal even though all your channels are at 0. make sense? but there is no need to think of it at that grand a scale for you yet. haha. Something else I just thought of while on the subject of DMX and Cat5. You can actually use Cat5, Cat5.5, and Cat6 cable for DMX since it is digital cable and standard DMX cable is digital technically. There are actually Ethernet to 5 Pin DMX turnarounds for a few fixtures out there that don't have DMX 5 or 3 Pin in and thru. Martin StageBar 54s are just such a fixture. Not sure of any others that come to mind right now, but ColorBlaze 48/72s have 5 pin and Ethernet as well as the power...

Well, Correct me if I am wrong but that board is mainly for intels. you don't need to setup a fixture profile for dimmer packs they simply dimmer (0-255) the dip switch need to be setup for channel for ex if you want dimmer pack one to be channels 1-4 set it as ch 1. if you want dimmer pack 2 to be 5-8 set it as 5. also there is probably a way to make it run on 1ch 2ch or 3ch. if you want ch1-4 turn all dip switch to off. Also note this is not a DMX dimmer pack. it is an NSI Miroplex one...

Ive run speed and fade variations during and after playback still the same.It slows down even more when fade time is set to 0. It has an uneven strobe effect if fade is above 0. I am seeing about 15-20 fps when in program mode. I then either record the scene and remove the program button and the speed slows down to about 5 fps.
