Re: new cyberpak, not at full power

I did quick research on the fixture models to get my numbers. It's not surprising that Serra Ava informs me that these fixtures come in a variety of wattages. It doesn't surprise me, these are some decent fixtures. I still think you need to ugprade to another dimmer pack. While you're getting 100% draw out of the dimmer pack, you're not delivering 100% to some of your fixtures(probably). If you're drawing more tahn 600-watts/channel, this is definately not the right fixture for you. Not...

Re: Please Explain the Operator 192 Backup Software

darmcwheeler ·
Hmmm...as I suspected... The manual says the software is in the pack...(it wasn't) The tech support phone guy said it was on the thumbdrive...(in wasn't) I found it on the site, but wasn't called backup software. It was named as if it were a firmware update to the Op-192... And no one here knows the answer as to what the files are that it creates. Just an observation.

Yes, I can get ten channels to show up, but I have a 12 channel Lightronics pack. When you go to Patch/Add/Generic, it stops at Dimmer 10x. The next item is DMX channel. RGB shows the same thing. If you look in the ftx file though, you can see it is set up to go out to 15 channels

Re: T16 F Elation controller

You're not the first person to ask this question recently. The manual is totally lacking any information regarding custom scenes. Perhaps someone at Elation can find a suport document that discusses this. Most people buying that system want the internal stuff and don't care about the custom scenes because they want cheap. That's probably why they don't ask about the custom scenes. It's best to get a better dimmer pack(s) and a DMX controller and control things yourself directly. Even a lowly...

which ADJ pinspot leds? The white ones that pan back back and forth? or the non moving pin spot led? Also the manual for the SDC6 is fine it is a basic controller. Basically when you have a dmx cable going out from the SDC6 to a fixture or dimmer pack the SDC6 will control channels 1-6 on the corresponding faders. you cannot control anything over 6 channels. Understand? If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Sincerely,

Re: Buggy MAC version

Regarding the Mac software: Please be aware that some developers make their software to adhere very rigidly to a pre-determined standard, and when that standard changes, well, sometimes the results aren't pretty. ProTools is one of those. Notorious for getting wonky after some Mac OS updates. Right now, I'm holding off on upgrading to 10.6.x until I buy my upgrade to ProTools 8. On compu live you set up fixture pages. A fixture page can have several of the same fixture in it. When you set up a new page where it asks you starting address and number of fixtures, that's how you set up your number of fixtures in one page. For par cans you don't need a dimmer pack profile you can use from the generic folder par 36,56, or 64. These are one channel profiles best used for par cans. So for a dimmer pack with 4 channels and 4 par cans hooked up you just use a generic par...

That's a transformer, not a fuse. I'd suggest contacting Elation Support or sales to order a replacement part. But before you do that, know what model dimmer pack that is. If if's a DP-DMX20L, you'll need to contact American DJ's Service and/or sales departments and have a credit card ready. There is also European support for ADJ products, so you may want to direct questions to them first. Sorry, I don't have those phone numbers available.

Is the theory that the early version of these packs dont have switch mode still true, or am I missing something? They have a date of March 7, 2005 on the sticker on the side.

Well, as long as it does what you need, no problem. And if Elation recommended it, then I won't argue. They know their stuff better than I do. I'm just an end user! That's why there's so many options out there, trying to address various niches. My main concern is that systes like that don't grow very well. You've also got fixtures that ideally shouldn't be placed on a dimmer/power pack as well. I always try to see out 3-5 years and see if the gear is something that will really be useful to...

If you want the fans on the Roller Scans to stay on, you need to plug them right into power, but NOT via a Dimmer or switcher pack. Plug those INTO the wall or a power strip or extension cord, then use DMX to control those. Otherwise, well, you're gonna damage it. If you're going to plug your DMX fixtures into a dimmer pack, even if switched(on/off only, no variable voltage), you're going to have to wait for it to go through it's typical initialization cycle before you can use them. Well, to start with, we have the Stage Setter 8 controller, which is nothing more than a 16 channel DMX controller. Then you have 2 DP415 dimmer packs, which are both 4 channel dimmer packs. Starting in with your Roller Trons, I'm assuming perhaps incorrectly that you have the Roller Tron 250's. But I could be wrong. These are 5-channel DMX fixtures. Channel 3 and Channel 4, value 255, is SOUND ACTIVE. So these support SOUND active, probably in a "per mode" bass. Channel 3 being sound active...

The DP-415 should be set to DMX address 1. But it sounds like you've got that correct. When you set a scene, you set a scene, and that's what the scene is. Not brighter, not darker, just as you programmed it. It's not the dimmer pack, it's the controller and limitations of the controller.

This may sound stupid but make sure you plug the dongle end into the PC. I actually did it backwards and plugged the USB plug ito the PC and had the dongle end at the Magic 260 USB port but clearly that isn't right and won't work. he dongle is really a USB-to-Serial adapter and you'll hear your computer "ding" when you plug it in (correctly, as described above) as the driver loads, it doesn't matter if the Magic 260 is plugged in or not, the "hardware" is the cable, not the Magic 260... Re: DMX dimmer packs

Yes, you can control dimmer packs with scene buttons on the M260. I've only worked with the Elation DP-415, but I'd bet all DPs work the same way in this respect. The DP-415 has four channels, one for each of the four power outlets. As you probably already know, if you connect your dimmer pack to the M260 and set it to "listen" on channel 261, when you press AUX 1 on the M260 outlet 1 on the DP will turn on. If you press the AUX 2 button, outlet 2 will come on, and so on. In the above...

Re: Magic 260 for LED fixtures.

Absolutely! The M260 is feasible for any standard LED wash fixtures. There is only one limitation I can think of with respect to using an M260. It has 260 variable channels plus 4 On/Off channels. While you can control as many fixtures as you like with an M260, the number of discrete light settings you can send is 260 divided by the number of channels your fixtures use plus 4. So, for example, if your LED fixtures use 4 channels each, you can send 65 discrete fixture settings (plus 4 ON/OFF...

newchurchncAVguy Not sure what you want to know. Assuming you are using a M260 to control more than one dimmer pack, dimming some or all of the lights connected to the dimmer pack on the fly would be a big hassle. You can set any of the four lights connected to the M260 to whatever level you want, but they will stay at that level until you select a different scene with different settings for those lights. Unless you select the dimmer pack fixture while the scene is playing and manually...

I need more info then. What are you connecting to? A DMX dimmer pack that runs house lights? How many channels on the pack? How many channels per zone? How many packs per zone? I can probably recommend how to define a SD2 fixture for each zone that you can control. The best scenario would be one DMX channel per zone if your dimmer situation would allow that. Then you could use a single fader to control each zone.

I looked at the Lightronics page and I see the RD82 is an 8 channel dimmer and the CP400 is just a jack panel. The jack is probably connected to a dimmer pack somewhere. When you find out how the dimmers are set up, we can program the controller to match. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the late response on these question guys, I will try to explain DMX addressing now. The best way to describe DMX addressing is that it is like the postal system. First, you pick the address you want to send the letter to. Then the letter goes to the mail center, where it is sorted for delivery. Next, a mailman takes the letter and delivery's it to the address. The first step in setting up DMX system is you patch your console (Pick the address you want to send commands to). Since...

@billyboy, let me jump in. The DP-415 has dip switches based on the binary code standard. This means that each dip switch is double the value of the one before it. If you look at the image attached (DP-415 Dip Switch. will see the 10 dip switches and above it the values that each creates. Switches 1-9 can be combined in any configuration to create a number from 1-512. This will represent the starting slot (sometimes called an address) of the DMX signal that the pack will respond to.
