Re: Dimmer Problems, Termination?

elationpro ·
Hi Joe, Your dimmers have 3 modes 1 channel mode.. all for channels are the same address 2 channel mode.. chan 1 controlls 1 & 2, ch 2 controls 3 & 4. so the pack is only 2 channels. then 4 channel mode.. this is the channel your looking for. breaks it up to 4 channels.. should be on the silk screen of the dimmer.. if not check the user manual. Best regards,

Re: Major Probs with the Magic 260 App

surgeprotech ·
Frank, The Magic 260 will only run a maximum of 16 channels per fixture. Do these lights have the capability of running in a different mode with less channels? As for the "format error", make sure that you do not use any channel names more than once (for example, if you have more than one color wheel, name one as color 1 and the next as color 2). Also check all your steps and make sure that you are not overlapping any channel values. Hope this helps

Re: Compu Live Question

ebaclights ·
So the house dimmer is tied into the same line as the rest of the lights, and you have both the x-fade and compu controlling them with an a/b switch? You are saying all the lights work ok when controlling with compu, but when you switch it to the x-fade the leds go nuts? If so, they are probably losing dmx since the x-fade is only 6 channels. The only option you have is to set the leds so that when they lose dmx they do not go to auto mode. Finally, you can also add a wall panel from the...

Why would he buy another $500 external controller when he has an x-fade already? His post was originally about the led cans losing dmx and going to auto mode when he switched to the x-fade system. He could solve this by turning off the auto feature, but he doesnt have easy acess to them. I dont understand why you would spend that much when you can build the wall controller for the stand alone box for less than $50 with just basic electronic skills. Thats a good question. Here is what Partime has going on. A system consiting of house lights which are only a few DMX channels..6 I believe to be exact. When Compu is on everything is great.. That's because his LED par cans are recieving DMX.. When he switches to the simple X-fade, it is only activating 6 channels..The LED pars lose DMX and go into sound active mode. Using an AR 32 system will activate all 512 dmx channels. The problem is he bought the wrong controller for the Job. I'm...

Suspx, Make sure that both the Stage Setter 8 and the MIDI foot controller are on the same MIDI channel. Keep in mind that the MIDI indicator on the Stage Setter 8 will light up even though both devices are on different MIDI channels. Once the proper MIDI channels have been assigned, the Stage Setter 8 will respond to basic note on/note off commands. Here's how to assign the MIDI channel and the table used to send the proper notes. (This is posted on the manual). MIDI Settings: To change...

Rick, What channel is the DP-415 address to? If using sliders 5-8 then it should be set to dip switch 1 and 3 on. Also on the Scene Setter 24 you can change the output channel for each slider. Have any of the sliders been changed to control different channels? If so, you can reset them by holding the record button and tapping flash button 7 three times, while in record mode.

Ok... after reading through the forum (which is awesome) last night for a couple of hours I think I figured it out... 1. Set the first DP-415 to read channel 1 2. Set the second DP-415 to start reading at channel 5 3. Set the first group (Back wash) of Color Wash light to read channel 9 (Master/Slave mode) 4. Set the second group (Back lights) of Color Wash lights to read channel 13 (Also Master/Slave mode) Is this right? Am I even close?

Re: How do you select & Group of fixtures?

mattmcd ·
Yeah. That's how you do it. It actually works quite well once you get used to it a little bit. Very hard to understand at first. Basically, you want to create a switch that does a basic function (example: change a color in RGBMix). When you click the switch it sets all of the fixtures in that page to that color. However, you can now go to the fixtures tab and select your group. Choose "LIVE" mode and then click the switch. Only the fixtures in that group will change color.

Re: Compu Live Scene Creation

ebaclights ·
Right, I link my color changers and leds to the master also. It makes it a little harder creating a scene blind in the empty mode, but you can just write down a list of some of the dmx settings for certain positions and refer to them if need be. Also, if there is a time I want my house, stage, and master page to change at the same time, I just program hot keys and they will all activate with that key. Justin

Re: Octostrip II questions...

Sounds like a bad cable. Is the line/s terminated as well? It could be reflections back down the DMX line which a terminator is there to prevent. You say the split is at the end of the chain. That is not good, your splitters should always be home runs either back to a console or another splitter. This eliminates issues and helps with trouble shooting. Other products in the chain as well, exactly how many? DMX has a limit to how much can run down one cable before issues arise. With movers, it...

Hi again and thanks for the response. I will propose to use the "ELAR-DRIVER-8" for the project, but I have another question about the programming and control. I read that "ELAR-DRIVER-8" has compatibility with DMX 512. With this "ELAR-DRIVER-8", do I need to buy a DMX Operator or some Control Panel to do the programming and the change of color? or I have to use some kind of software to program this device and put on "Stand Alone Mode"? I will be waiting for your quick answer, thanks a lot...

Re: Pan problem

Your pan motor can be going out. Usually I would say that somehow the speed channel has been engaged somehow and is simply in slow mode. But it could also be a motor??? See if you can get the channel to match one of the good moving ones. If it moves exactly the same, then its not mechanical its in the programming, however if it still moves slow, the controller is sending the exact same command as a good working one, so it would most likely be a motor going out. also check the fans on that...

Mattrix, You'll need to create your own programs to limit the number of channels/lights being used. Here's how to program a chase. 1) Change the mode to "1-24 single" 2) Enter record mode (press and hold record button and tap buttons 1,6,6,8) 3) Create the first step of your chase using sliders 1-12. Press the record button and the display should then read step 001. Create as many steps as you need to complete your desired pattern. The controller will continue to display the number of steps...

Mattrix, The T16F works a little different from the Dp-Dmx4B, so you'll need to assign each pack it's own address. The T16F uses 5 channels of DMX and is automaticaly assigned to channel 1 when placed in slave mode. Raising slider 1 to value 255 will allow you to have control of the 4 channels on the pack using sliders 2-5. The Dp-Dmx4B will need to start at channel 6 (dip switch 1,2 and 3 to the on position). You can assign the same address to the third dimmer pack and control them together...

Have you checked the fuses in the packs? They might be blown. The next question is have you tired the console with other packs/fixtures to see if it is outputting? Also make sure that your master fader, preset fader, memory fader, and cross fade fader are at 100% as well, otherwise the lights won't turn on depending on what mode you are in. Lastly, make sure the blackout key isn't on.

COLORKEY LED Par 64 10mm V2 6 channel dmx and Deliya par 64 led 4 channel dmx. One at a time does the same thing. Singularly on a 2 foot DMX cable from the OPERATOR. Ive run speed and fade variations during and after playback still the same.It slows down even more when fade time is set to 0. It has an uneven strobe effect if fade is above 0. I am seeing about 15-20 fps when in program mode. I then either record the scene and remove the program button and the speed slows down to about 5 fps.

Redx, I hooked up some LED's with similar DMX traits as your Colorkey LED's and after many attempts I was able to create a slight change in the strobe speed (when in and out of program mode). Correct, or you can run it in two scene preset mode. Setup your first scene on X and then build your next scene on Y. Then simply cross fade between the two. When in scene Y, build your next scene on X and just continue the process. Its not that bad, but you do have the write down levels for each channel for yet 'cue/scene' which can lead to a lot of paper work. I once had to do a show with 3 separate two scene preset consoles and a strobe controller. Was rather interesting because I used my...
