the faders are used to record your cues. you can start by patching your fixtures into the software. the first thing you want to do is find the companny that makes your fixture. once you did that find the fixture you want to use to program. once youve done that, you have to patch the fixture. when you have all this done, you can start to program. to record a cue you activate the fixture you want to use. once you have your first look you hit the record button and then the fader were you want...

I was able to patch the fixtures. I have 2 elation stage color LEDs, 2 AmDJ 250 EX scanners, Am DJ Quad Gem. I understand now how to select a patch and adjust the attributes of the fixture. I then hit record and the play button of fader one. The system chimes and the light below the play button turns red. When I pull down the fader, nothing happens. When I hit the play button, it turns yellow. If I hit the number one at the bottom of the fader, nothing happens. Please help. Thanks. I know...

when you hit play your cue should start to play. You might not notice a difference if you have not hit Clear in the button list of different attributes. The fader is the dimmer fader for all the fixtures that have a dimmer function. The number one button is a "flash" button. when running a different cue if you hit a number it will flash that cue either over or on top of the cue currently playing. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need pictures. Sincerely,

Hey KS Welcome to the forums. Are you new to the program? If so please check out some of my videos on you tube if you want. www.youtube.com/compulivetech To do what you are asking is pretty simple. Make sure all your fixtures are linked to the Master Page by going to the pages tab and making sure the crown icon is on for each fixture page. now once you have done that go to the master page and click on the INIT scene to make the page active. Now select new scene but clicking on the yellow...

So I have made a program as you said & when you push play within the editor the scene looks exactly as I want but then once I save it & play it back the colors don't change correctly as they do when playing thru the editor even if I change the speed fader on the master page. What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't it look the same?

Hi Lazer, Welcome to forums. The 3 is really worth the extra $1000.00.. keep in mind that both the 2 and 3 are 48 fixture consoles.. that being said the 3rd universe works as an extra output when needing some diversity.. but it can also be used to patch conventional dimmer channels. The 3 gives you master fader, and Stop and Back buttons for your cue lists. The Playback faders is really needed for layering and multi scene effects which you do not have on the 2. on the 3 the encoder wheels...

Thanks Guys! Jingles, I prefer the hands on approach where I can 'punch' up a fixture or scene on my desk and it immediately appears on stage. Hobson, Yes thats what I was wondering. I know in the SD2 its possible to assign specific fixture channels to the master fader (black out fader) while others are left untouched (like P/T), but wasn't sure about the MAGIC 260 (cause the user guide doesn't mention it) capabilities. I might have a line on a SD2 that's cheaper then a MAGIC 260 ... if so,...

Re: Jingles, need some help, Fading scenes...

Jingles8302 ·
Ya, what your asking for is like a fade fader like on a console. Compu live doesn't have this. Software's behave VERY differently than a console. The reason you can't do this as you described is because your scene's are using DMX data from all of your fixture as you have programmed them. To do this I would suggest making a switch with different color combination's that way they are ready to go on fly as you may need them. Compu live doesn't do Live control as well as you might think. I was going on your statement: "I have downloaded the ADJ profiles and even installed that to the controller successfully." If you have done this, then use the profiles installed (not the x channel profiles). This is because the x channel profiles don't tell you what each of the knobs control. I'm a little surprised that you can get them all to turn on and turn off. How are you doing that? Are you just using the master fader? Please note that each fixture has it's own set of channel...

They intentionally made the program to be on the simple side, and not have any options for the globals. This is something they don't plan on changing, (I've asked). I do something similar to what Jingles suggested and make a cuelist with the strobe rate of my choice and assign it to a playback fader or button. It works just as well, and if you decide to get a hardware controller, mapping or re-mapping the controller to not use globals isn't that big of a deal. Hope this helps. Mike

Setting up the korg was fine. All I did was made sure it had it's default settings loaded. Then I loaded the midi map for it on the software and it was working. The faders are not motorized. But that doesn't make much of a difference if any. So assign any scene or switch to a midi button or fader simply click on the scene or switch the hold shift then right click the scene. Now a small menu will appear and at the bottom a option to link to midi controller will be there. Click on that link to...

You wouldn't "fire" up a bundle, rather you would start a playback fader or button and should you transition into a different playback on the same bundle number, it would automatically "release" the first playback. In another words, when you bundle together playbacks, it makes transitioning between them easy and will never let you have two playbacks on the same bundle run at the same time. As far as stack-lists are concerned, after assembling a stacklist with multiple cuelists attatched to...

Yes, the knobs just pull off. There are two big screws on the bottom that let you open the unit and a metal rod to hold the lid up. There are probably 9 screws holding the fader board in. If you post in the Show Designer section, you will get a faster response to questions, Thanks.

I do have a question however - in the TRIO profile editor, what is the full meaning of each of the channel name entries in terms of where they default to on the console. For example, if I choose "dimmer" as the channel, does it make the fader above the bump work? I am slowly getting to grips with this!

You have to assign a scene to a channel and when you move that channel fader it will play that scene. but since you only have a SS24 you limited I think to only 24 scenes being triggered with that unit as DMX input. not sure if you can "stack" triggers or have multiple scenes trigger by the same channel fader. Re: Want Simple On and Off for lights, How do I do it with my DMX Operator

Well, you CAN do this, but you've got to create scenes that cover every possible scenario you'd want, and then have a chart documenting what's on for which scene. But on the go, that might be too much to deal with, as its too easy to overlook something. I'd say MyDMX by American DJ might be an option with or without a MIDI controller. It's a PC based software solution. While you can also make scenes you can name, you can also override the scenes using HTP or LTP to determine priorities. It's...

Using 1~4 and 5~8 is a neat trick! The fact that you figured out you could use 5-8 shows that you are sharp and are really getting the hang of DMX. Scences in a chase change from one scene to the next based on (1) "speed" (the duration that each scene is on), (2) "tempo" (tap the Tap Sync button to set the rate of change), or (3) sound (press the audio button). For audio you can use either the mic built into the controller or you can connect an audio source. Control sensitivity to sound with...

Re: SD3 Issue

With LTP subs, the channels that are included in the scene will change and any channels not included will be unaffected. When you first build the scene, make sure every channel you need is in the scene. You can do this by first clearing out all channels (hold down black). That way you know that what you see will be included when you save the scene. If a channel is set to snap after fade, it will change color or whatever it does only when the sub fader reaches the top. If the fader doesn't...

Ya. On Compu show you can assign a midi fader or pot to the speed function. So the last selected button will follow that pot pt knob or fader for speed adjustment. Does this make sense? Just shift right click the speed dial in the general tab for the page that has those chases on it. Let me know if this helps.

In HTP mode, the playbacks are looking for a single dimmer channel for each moving light fixture to assign to the fader. In LTP mode the fader will control all channels. The 32 channel generic fixture won't give you control over all the channels in HTP mode. HTP mode should work with conventional dimmers.
