Audia, I just saw this post.. are you still having issues? It sounds as if you need some DMX help over there. Using the fixture patch you should have the address of the fixture in the SD2 match the address of the dimmer.. If you not sure what the address is, the address is a 3 digit number that dimmer must have.. then a fixture button on the console should have the same 3 digit number. If these numbers don't match then you wont get any response. If you can't figure it out then we will need...

Not to rob Jingles of business, but I think it would be beneficial for you to just buy a small DMX controller that will allow YOU to program your own scenes and chases. For one, you will learn a lot about DMX lighting and how to accomplish many different things. Plus, you will be able to modify, remove, and add to your current banks of scenes and chases without having to rely on someone else providing designs for you. You will then know how it all works inside and out, plus have the...

Re: Is there a 250 spot that will mix color like this?

elationpro ·
bdunard, Yes, a wash will be about from 40 brighter than a spot. You have a lot more light being projected along a bigger beam of light. However, that's all a wash fixture does.. color change.. but the beam of light it projects is impressive. Most rigs require a 1 to 1 ratio where you have 1 wash to every spot. So if you have 8 Spots you should also have 8 washes. But with the Frost filter of the Design Spot's it helps resolve not having to buy so many washes. Still the wash effect of a...

The video is great. I didn't even know there was an fx editor. Looks like I should be able to do a alot with that. Of course I still have questions... 1. Once you create your effect, why do you go to easy time to save the scene? What is easy time? I am sure a lot of this would make sense if I had a few movers and could experiment and see what is going on.

Ok, last question before I go to bed. Since I don't have any moving head fixtures just yet it was hard to justify buying the software. However, I threw up some of DLED 36's and I can do some great effects with these that are not possible on my show designer 1. Ok tell me how to accomplish this in the real world. 1. I want to create a dimmer chase for Design LED 36's that I can save and then overlay on any of my other static DLED 36 scenes. i.e. Say I have 3 scenes programmed for my DLED's.

I definitely know how important lighting is to a wedding...however it's hard to sell a mom on some lights on a band. However, I want the lights for the show! On a side note...I went to demo a design wash 250, and design spot 250 today. If found out...

Depends on exactly what you are looking to do. If it is just conventional lighting, then a scene setter will do, even with some LEDs in the mix. For movers, you will need some sort of moving light console, be it a Magic 260 (wouldn't recommend), DMX Operator 192, Show Designer 1, the CompuLive computer program, etc etc. If you also want to add moving lights later, I would go for a moving light console so you are not kicking yourself later, or you can do what I often do and use one console...

Yes, what you are describing are what a console would call a scene. A Scene is just a bunch of lights recorded (saved) to look a certain way when you bring up that scene. So for example, if you made scene 1 nothing but blue lights, when you hit scene 1 the blue lights would come on. If you made scene 2 red lights, the red lights would come on with scene two. If you made scene 3 red and blue lights, both the red and blue lights would come on when scene 3 is up. A series of scenes is called...

Yes, you have 96 pages that you can add to 8 different books in different ways for each book. The console doesn't say how many pages per book, so I assume you can use as many as you want. Don't quote me on it though. Sometimes you will see something like number of steps per show or chase. So if it says 40 Steps per Show, that would mean each of your books can have 40 pages in it, but you can make up 96 different pages to use in the case of the DMX Operator Pro. Don't think of CompuLive so...

Hi Fish, You have a lot of learning to do. Hopefully Jingles will be able to help you more. Anyhow, when you set up your pages, each page shows you the channels you are using. Say 1-56 or 213-400. So when you study the pages, you can use this information to make sure you do not overlap channels, and you can clearly see how many channels you have free. You can also download the latest software, which should work with your 2006 interface.

Second question, just plug and play. You said they have been doing it for a while now, so I am sure you are still fine. After that, I think all your other questions are answered. Re: lighting intensity and throw distance

Well, that all depends on beam size and throw distance. How bright something is over distance is can be determined by lumen's. How bright something is over a given area is foot candles or lux. Foot candles are lumen's/ft^2, so it is a more actuate method of how bright something will be over just lumen output which is based off of a single point instead of actually beam size. FC is considered old, but one FC equals 10.764 lux, though some just use a factor of 10 to simplify things. Warning,...

As far as DLED36 vs Tri64B, they might be about even at the same beam size do to the fact that the DLED uses Luxeons and the Tri64B doesn't. As for the "format error", make sure that you do not use any channel names more than once (for example, if you have more than one color wheel, name one as color 1 and the next as color 2). Also check all your steps and make sure that you are not overlapping any channel values. Hope this helps

I think the best thing for you would be to contact Chauvet and see whats up with the Color Pallette.. It has some pretty complex channel assignments, and if you address them to 1 for simplicity sake they should do the same thing. For other channel or menu setting on the Color Palette you need to work with chauvet. Best regards,

Re: Dip Switch Calculator

This is provided the lights use binary, switch one=1, two=2, three=4, four=8, five=16, six=32, seven=64, eight=128, and nine=256. Some lights use there own 'odd' settings, like HES Trackspots for example. Both the settings for a Universal Controller and DMX are different from binary. Read your manual before you assume it is binary, or look on the back of the light by the dip switches. A lot of lights tell you what the 'code' is for their dip switches.

Re: Operator 192 questions newbie...

I believe your issue is that each fixture on the 'Fixture' button represents 16 channels. Since you address the lights in numerical order, the 'Fixture' buttons won't line up. So fixture 1 is really channels 1-16. Fixture 2 is channels 17-32, then 3 is channels 33-48 and so on. Try setting your first group of lights to channel 1 making them Fixture 1. Then your second group of lights as channel 17 making them Fixture 2. Lastly, your last group of lights to channel 33 making them Fixture 3.

There is no downgrade from 32bit to 64bit. Instead, Windows XP x64, Vista 64 and Server 64 all have 32bit emulators in them to make 32bit programs work on them. The issue is drivers for 64bit are completely different for 32bit. As for the RAM issue. You can use 4 gigs of RAM on a 32bit OS. The way RAM limits are determined are by your physical extensions and how much your CPU can handle. Most processors now a days are are 40bit, meaning 2^40 bits of memory or 1,099,511,627,776 bits of data.
