Hey John, James told me to tell about this. It is a quick story that I experience on tour. Our lighting guy is 16 (yes they put a 15 and 16 year old in charge of all that equipment, scary huh?) He really isn't a lighting guy he just knows how to run the software. He really just wants to play in a band. Anyways for awhile I have been learning from him, but now it is different. Since I've been on these forums as well as the ADJ forums I have learned ALOT. Well at one of our shows we had the...

Surpized? Ha, auto correct will probably start to fail after 20+ hours of the light being outside. The auto correct sensor will start to fail with even the slightest-bit of humminity. It will be a tease too, if you pull the lights inside overnight, auto correct might start to work for awhile and as soon as you put them back up outside... failure. Always leave auto correct off. Hey guys, when you talk about auto correct, are you reffering to position correction? the feature that brings the light back to original position? If so let me know, I've never heard of such an issue from being used outside or with a specific lighting console. Doesn't make sense to me. From serra's original post if it works fine with a 16 channel generic and not with the profile, I will point to the profile for the problem. let me know

Lopez, Don't know how much field experiance you have had with elation lights but yes, we are referring to position correction. The little sensor that elation uses for all of its position correction... moving heads position correction, gobo homing, color homing, proton color wheel homing...fail from high humitity. Most elation users that are 5 or less miles from the ocean will be extremely effected. Especailly if there is no outdoor housing for the light. The salty air will destroy the sensor...

Welcome to the forums! For the dimmer packs, whatever address you set it to (129 for your example) tells you all the address for each light. light one will be 129 and light 2 will be 130, 4 - 131, 5 - 132. so just use the faders (channels 129 - 132) to turn on the par cans. Make Sense? For the ADJ Accu Spot 250 II's, I'm not entirely sure how to do what your thinking but what I would suggest is to set some scenes and just recall your scenes. Set the first light to the left of the runway and...

I assigned the dimmer pack to A129 as stated in the manual. then i set the dimmer pack to work for only 2 channels. then i plugged in a par can light to channel 1 and another par can light into channel 2. as you said, the console should make the channel 2 light work on the next fader which is 130. but that's not whats happening. Fader 129 is turning on both of the lights, and fader 130 doesn't do anything. I know the next thing u guys might say is check what outlet im plugging the par can...

@JPal Congrats on getting you accu spots working. now for the dimmer pack. This particular pack has 3 modes (as you already know) 1 channel, 2 channel, and 4 channel. Here is how they work: 1 Channel This setting allows all the lights plugged into the pack to be turned on/off using one channel. Meaning that if you set your pack to 1 channel mode and the address is at A129, when you turn on that fader all the lights will come on. 2 Channel This setting allows the four channels to be turned on...

Hi Jpal, That's what the guys were trying to explain to you. Your controller does not have pre generated movements. The feature you are asking about is only found in the Showdesigner series controllers and Compu live software. In your situation you will need to record multiple scenes. for example, if you want a circle on the wall or cieling. you need to position the light in one spot..then record that position into a scene, you then follow the same process till you have made about 4 - 8...

Hold on a minute here!!! If you're not having an issue with a hog 1000 or IPC, then it cannot be the light fixture, auto correction or anything on the light. It has to be with the controller and personalities. I will have this looked into on our side. Best regards,

I am not finding missing letters in the manual.. can you let me know what pages? CREATING AND RECORDING PRESETS Before recording a preset you must first do some preparation. In order to be able to view certain moving light channels like color or gobo you will first need to raise the dimmer levels and set the pan and tilt positions in order to see the color or gobo selections. Do this by selecting the fixture or fixtures...

I mean there's some cool patterns in sound mode, but there's also some lame ones... it would be nice to have an actual fixture file for this light instead of half assing it through console.. the sliders on the fixture file do change the values in the output window, which would in a perfect world make the light...

It is a way for each and every (DMX Compatible ) light, made by any manufacturer, to interact with an universal DMX controller. In a standard DMX protocol (called 512-DMX protocol) there are a total of 512 "channels" In order to get your lights to interact with the controller, you must address them. As a lighting guy, I must state my strong loathing of snow drops. The stuff gets everywhere, and it gets on the lights, which it melts to. It then makes a nice burning plastic smell each time you turn them. It also looks horrible on the lights, and never comes off without damaging the paint job, light, etc. Other issues with it, you must sweep the stuff up vs it dissolving into nothing. It can also get into other things, like lines for travelers, caught in the air and then fall at random...

Not 100% true jingles, you can dim fluorescents with a Sine Wave dimmer, which are very expensive. All light sources emit UV. Nothing has the same effect as fluorescents because fluorescents output a lot of UV do to design. So much so that they are used to sterilize things. All fluorescents have a coating to block UV so it doesn't hurt anyone. Black light fluorescents don't have as strong a coating, allowing save levels of UV out. They are also colored purple because UV has no color...

We have controlled fluorescents with our lighting system by simply changing the dimmer to non-dim mode (it comes on full when the channel is at 50% or more - like a light switch). Would this work in your situation?

You can damage your dimmer and/or the light that way, so I would not recommend it.

Re: black lights

How would this damage the dimmer or the light? We have a neon light on one of our dimmer channels (new ETC rack) and the technician didn't have any problem setting up non-dim channels, plus the dimmers actually have a fluorescent setting on them that does the same thing. For the light, what does it care if the power is "switched on"?

Re: black lights

Continuing on now: The buzzing noise is known as lamp sing, it's caused by the power being turned on and off really fast. The way this is fixed is more expensive dimmers have what is known as a choke after the SCR so the power change is as dramatic as on/off. The better the quality of dimmer, the less lamp sing you will get. Now why non-dim isn't really non-dim. Despite you setting a dimmer to non dim, either via the pack or the console, the power still passes through the SCR and choke. So,...

Thanks SerraAva for taking the time to explain this. I guess we have been lucky the few times we have used fluorescents on our dimmers. Our neon light continues to function well without use of a special dimmer (and it is 12 years old now), but we are looking to replace it soon with some LED lighting so we can get rid of the high voltage transformer which causes noise on any electric guitars that get too close.

Re: problems with power spot 575?

Hi Danny, You need to pull out the user manual for the light. The fixture it self has settings..so to turn the lamp on as soon as power comes on is a feature called "Lamp on Automatically" The one fixture has this feature off, so you need to turn it on. Another feature is lamp on off by DMX.. its a feature that needs to be turned on. when this feature is turned on your Light Jockey button should work if its configured correctly best regards

Out of order isn't as much a problem on cue lists as one may think. As long as you label stuff and are fast, the 'Go to' button is your best friend. I did a dance concert last year with about 500 cues, and it went in a different order each night. So I named each scene and programed in blocks. Like scene one was cues 10 thru 19 with 19 being the blackout, allowing me to record pre-load cues from 19.1-19.9. Worked well. It also gave each number a block of cues that lined up numerically cue...

Generally pre-programing refers to patching the console and setting up a few basic cues, effects, chases, scenes, submasters, and/or palettes depending on your console. This is generally done with off-line editors. Just about all my shows are pre-programed in this fashion, so I simply have to load the show from disk or USB drive and start the fun programing. It is a great time saver. The type of pre-programing islanddj is talking about is done with virtualization software, like Elation's...

Thanks for your suggestion but that controller does not provide the same type of functionality as the SS48. I need to have easy access to multiple faders, like 48 or more. The show I run has alot of improv and things can change quickly. Having access to many faders and bumps are essential. Besides, from what I can see about the Operator 192 (from a Google search) it's more of an intelligent light controller. This rig is all conventionals.

Abhi, Don't sweat it. you don't need a personality.. especially if you don't know what light you have. use 32 DMX channel fixture. It will give you 32 channels to use, but you only need to use 2 of them on 1 fixture and 9 channels on the other. From this point all you need to do is modify the fixture, and say it only uses 2 channels or 9 channels.. and you can rename the fixture to the name of the fixture you actually have. This is the best way for you buddy, Best regards,

Otherwise I'd be stuck watching Christy Yamagoochie on the only TV station they get in this place. HAHAHA! But yes, seems the 2 options are either a low profile up-light from the crown molding along the sides, (traditionally churches put florescent bulbs here), or some sort of tiny can(or long thin) fixture on each beam washing down on the congregation.

Those might be out of their price range but think im on the right track. I think once they compare the fixture price and ease of installation of the DLED12brick to having an electrician come in and pull wire for conventional down lights, the LED fixtures may win out. FWIW, they dont need color changing or strobes - just a general white light on the congregation. 12brick come as a WHITE yet?

Not to rob Jingles of business, but I think it would be beneficial for you to just buy a small DMX controller that will allow YOU to program your own scenes and chases. For one, you will learn a lot about DMX lighting and how to accomplish many different things. Plus, you will be able to modify, remove, and add to your current banks of scenes and chases without having to rely on someone else providing designs for you. bdunard, Yes, a wash will be about from 40 brighter than a spot. You have a lot more light being projected along a bigger beam of light. However, that's all a wash fixture does.. color change.. but the beam of light it projects is impressive. Most rigs require a 1 to 1 ratio where you have 1 wash to every spot. So if you have 8 Spots you should also have 8 washes. But with the Frost filter of the Design Spot's it helps resolve not having to buy so many washes. Still the wash effect of a...
