Re: Design spot 250

elationpro ·
That's what I was thinking you were doing. The Design spot 250's have 2 different pan rotation settings. 1 is 540 degrees 2 is 630 degrees I believe they are set to 630 degrees from us here at the factory. this 630 degree pan setting makes alot of things not match very well. So look for the degr setting on your fixtures and set them both to 540 degree's. See how that works for you. Best regards,

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

Jingles8302 ·
hello lemon! welcome to the forums. i think the problem your running into is the magic 260 controls only 16 channels per fixture. so if u want to run all the octopods as individuals you would have to buy more pixel drives in order to achieve this. because to control one set of octopods individually u would need a console that allows up to 48 DMX channels per fixture. u see the pixel drive and all 8 pods are considered (as far as your controller is concerned) as 1 fixture in the DMX line.

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

lemonjello ·
thanks for your reply, so far I can control all 8 pods on one "fixture" second group on 2nd "fixture". is there any way to assign one pod to one fixture? the magic has 24 fixture buttons so theoretically could it be programmed channel 1-6 as fixture 1; 7-12 as fixture 2, etc? it seems pretty logical. According to dmx language or does the pixel drive override this? in 48 channel mode it allows for this, 6 ch per pod. Anyone else with experience or info?

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

elationpro ·
Hi Lemon, Yes.. right now, you can control each pod individually. if you use the 48 ch. mode. So each pod will be 6 channels each. So pack 1 will start at 001 pack 2 will start at 049 pack 3 will start at 097 Ch 1 is rainbow ch 2 red ch 3 green ch 4 blue ch 5 strobe ch 6 chase If you use ch 6 to engage a chase of which you have 8 chases. ch 1 becomes speed time, and ch2 becomes fade time.

Re: Octopod 80 with Magic 260 profile?

elationpro ·
Hi Jingles.. That's actually incorrect. He can assign 1 pod per fixture button. in the 48 channel mode, basically every octopod becomes its own fixture with 8 channels to operate. so if he uses the alkalite profile on his magic he basically needs to set each fixture to be an alkalite fixture. so if he has 24 fixtures then he has control of each pod. Each pixel drive can be one fixture, two fixtures, 4 fixtures or 8 fixtures. Best regards,

I assigned the dimmer pack to A129 as stated in the manual. then i set the dimmer pack to work for only 2 channels. then i plugged in a par can light to channel 1 and another par can light into channel 2. as you said, the console should make the channel 2 light work on the next fader which is 130. but that's not whats happening. Fader 129 is turning on both of the lights, and fader 130 doesn't do anything. I know the next thing u guys might say is check what outlet im plugging the par can...

@JPal Congrats on getting you accu spots working. now for the dimmer pack. This particular pack has 3 modes (as you already know) 1 channel, 2 channel, and 4 channel. Here is how they work: 1 Channel This setting allows all the lights plugged into the pack to be turned on/off using one channel. Meaning that if you set your pack to 1 channel mode and the address is at A129, when you turn on that fader all the lights will come on. 2 Channel This setting allows the four channels to be turned on...

This is an easy one guys. create a profile in the 4 ch mode. ch. 1 = mode.. do you want to be in pattern mode or chase mode. You can select this using ch1. Ch. 2 = the pattern or chase your secting. Ch. 3 = speed of either the pattern or chase. you need to select this after you select a pattern or chase. ch. 4 = dimmer.. if you don't have the dimmer on full then you wont see any pattern or chase. The 10 Ch mode is confusing.. I put a call into the ADJ pros and waiting to here back. Best regards,

Oh man I can't tell you how much I laughed at that! Ok anyways, DMX, it really is a cool thing. Here are some basics. DMX stands for D igital M ultiple X . It is a way for each and every (DMX Compatible ) light, made by any manufacturer, to interact with an universal DMX controller. In a standard DMX protocol (called 512-DMX protocol) there are a total of 512 "channels" In order to get your lights to interact with the controller, you must address them. THAT MEANS THAT FIXTURE BUTTON ONE CONTROLS CHANELS 1-16 AND FIXTURE BUTTON CONTROLS 17-32 and so on and so on. so if you wanted to put 1 led one each fixture button they would need to be addressed as follows. (assuming they are 6 ch's) led 1:001 led 2:007 led 3:017 (that would be on fixture button 2) understand where im goin with this? if you have dip switches here is a helpfull tool DIP SWITCH CALCULATOR Sincerely,

Continuing on now: The buzzing noise is known as lamp sing, it's caused by the power being turned on and off really fast. The way this is fixed is more expensive dimmers have what is known as a choke after the SCR so the power change is as dramatic as on/off. The better the quality of dimmer, the less lamp sing you will get. Now why non-dim isn't really non-dim. Despite you setting a dimmer to non dim, either via the pack or the console, the power still passes through the SCR and choke. So,...

How is it determined that problems are caused by manufacturer defects VS. wear & tear? The fader I'm having a problem with has barely been used, and the bumps that have lost their spring are the ones hardly used as well. BUT how can I prove this? What might potentially be the labor cost for repair of these? Now I'm thinking that in addition to the shipping costs it might not be worth sending it back for repairs... Can a regular lighting shop fix something like this pretty easily?

Check out the Robo scan manual and make them match. I think since the Robo scan is old, they only put current fixtures on the SD1. Abhi, Don't sweat it. you don't need a personality.. especially if you don't know what light you have. use 32 DMX channel fixture. It will give you 32 channels to use, but you only need to use 2 of them on 1 fixture and 9 channels on the other. From this point all you need to do is modify the fixture, and say it only uses 2 channels or 9 channels.. and you can rename the fixture to the name of the fixture you actually have. This is the best way for you buddy, Best regards,

Sorry... I'm a bit late jumping in here and this is just another bit of useful DMX knowledge... per DMX512 protocol document, the maximum number of devices that can be supported per run of DMX is 32 devices. Now... that being said, lest you panic, a dimmer rack counts as 1 device.... The only way to successfully get around this limitation of 32 devices per line is to insert an opto splitter. Then you have the capability of 32 devices per output port on the opto splitter. Honestly though,...

Re: Is there a 250 spot that will mix color like this?

bdunard, Yes, a wash will be about from 40 brighter than a spot. You have a lot more light being projected along a bigger beam of light. However, that's all a wash fixture does.. color change.. but the beam of light it projects is impressive. Most rigs require a 1 to 1 ratio where you have 1 wash to every spot. So if you have 8 Spots you should also have 8 washes. But with the Frost filter of the Design Spot's it helps resolve not having to buy so many washes. Still the wash effect of a...

Yes, what you are describing are what a console would call a scene. A Scene is just a bunch of lights recorded (saved) to look a certain way when you bring up that scene. So for example, if you made scene 1 nothing but blue lights, when you hit scene 1 the blue lights would come on. If you made scene 2 red lights, the red lights would come on with scene two. If you made scene 3 red and blue lights, both the red and blue lights would come on when scene 3 is up. A series of scenes is called...

Well, that all depends on beam size and throw distance. How bright something is over distance is can be determined by lumen's. How bright something is over a given area is foot candles or lux. Foot candles are lumen's/ft^2, so it is a more actuate method of how bright something will be over just lumen output which is based off of a single point instead of actually beam size. FC is considered old, but one FC equals 10.764 lux, though some just use a factor of 10 to simplify things. Warning,...

Also check all your steps and make sure that you are not overlapping any channel values. Hope this helps
