Re: How to fade lights when turning off.

Jingles8302 ·
If you right click on the part of your fixture page where it displays the name of your fixture a menu will appear and at the bottom of this menu you will find a scene fade toolbar option. Select that option. Now to use that feature simply click on the scene you wish to fade and then check the check box to the left of the toolbar. Only use a time in the second box for fade time. The other times are various hold times mainly used for par cans. I hope this is clear enough. I cannot post any...

It WILL work. BUT why would you use a typically par can desk for LEDS? in my honest opinion you would be much better suited with a different DMX controller. Such as a DMX operator 192. What LEDs are you using? P.s. Welcome to the forums. Sincerely,

Re: Clueless newbie w/ scene setter 24

serraava ·
A Scene Setter can program chases (it calls these scenes for some reason). The difference is a chase is a series of steps/looks in a row that loop over and over again. A scene is simply one look. So basically, you can call a chase a series of scenes. Now, the Scene Setter is mainly used for conventional lighting (lights that work off a dimmer pack like par cans) and can be used for LED lighting as well but isn't the best console in the world for it. Which fixtures are you using? Maybe you...

Re: strobe

Unfortunately, yes it will. The simple way around this is to use a very small fixture, like a Par 16. Then simply use Black Wrap to cover the light so it emits no light at all. Black Wrap is black, heavy duty aluminum foil that is made for blocking light and also to withstand very high temperatures. Apollo Design and a few other companies make the stuff. I keep a roll of it in my work box, very useful.

Re: Led Par64

Have you tried unplugging the Colorados and just having the LED Par 64s plugged into the console? Some Chauvet fixtures don't play nicely with other fixtures. If they work fine going into the console by themselves, then try making them first or last in your DMX chain. The Colorados might want to be first or last in line.

Okay, so got out an Opti Tri Par and a Opti 30 to try and white balance the camera a little. The Opti 30 has the stock lamp and is just plugged into the wall. The Opti Tri, I just used a simple 8x8 channel NSI console with the fixture in 3 channel mode. So the colors aren't spot on, but it gets the idea across and shows that this can be done without expensive consoles like the Hog. This shot is the Opti Tri doing roughly a bastard amber (R02 to be exact). It is remarkably close, and what you...

I think right now, LED technology is maturing in two ways. First, trying to make LED performance on par with incandescent technologies, and second, making it affordable. Of course affordable is a relative term. Elation is no doubt the pricier brand, but you're getting more for more. I think the answer is that I'm sure Elation and ADJ are working on this. The 64 LED Pros that I have took some learning curve with some trial and error to find out how to best use those. While I like mine a lot,...

Chauvet ColorDash Par Hex 12 (12 channels mode) I'm using them on emulation with a midicon and I can't get the fixtures to react fast. It's like it needs 2 to 3 seconds to react. Also tried without Midicon, same problem. No delay on faders or what so ever. I tried on Mac Book Pro 1.3.97 and PC version 1.3.96, same problem. If my lighting provider uses his Chamsys, no problem. If that is the case, then they would be cheaper then an MSD 250 and closer in price to par 64 lamps. As much as I hope is the case, I just don't see it working out that way. Philips would completely under cut every other lamp they have out right now and make it pointless to buy anything else then, shattering the bigger half of their business for entertainment lamps. MSR 575/SA2 DE are some of the most expensive arc lamps though.

You can use the master page to program all your lights in one page or you can assign a hot key trigger to any of the scenes. for example you can have a trigger of say K to a scene of your led pars page. and have the scenes that matches your led par page on your roboscans to have the same trigger. And once you hit "K" all the scenes that have the K as a trigger will play. however only one button in each page can have the same trigger. Make sense? to assign a keyboard trigger. click on the...

Well, the Opti RGB would probably be closer to a 300w Par 56 lamp. As for beam sizes of Par 64 lamps, they are roughly as follows: VN: 12 Degree N: 14 Degree M: 24 Degree W: 50 Degree Keep in mind they are rough numbers. Also remember that Medium and Wide lenses spread in an oval, not a circle. Here is a Cheat Chart for Par 64s. Granted, it is for 1000w, but the dimensions are the same for a 500w lamp.

Those are ETC Source Four ParNels. Great fixtures, work like a Fresnel but are in a Par frame. Zoom range is 25-45 degrees. They also put out more light then a 1000w 6" Fresnel does with a 750w lamp, coming closer to a 2k 8". The beam isn't as soft and even as a Fresnel however. It also has less intensity do to the refractor then an 'equally' lensed S4 Par would. But since it puts out a circle and has a zoom, much easier to work with then Pars a lot of times. I still, however, use Pars for...

James, Thanks for checking into this. One clarification from your post "multiple pages with the same fixture in use". I am not exactly sure what this means. In my .ssh file, each page reflects a unique par can. Each page controls separate and distinct DMX channels from all other pages. No par can is governed by two pages, excepting the master page. Interestingly, I deleted the offending page "White Stage" DMX channels 10-21 and recreated it. This did not solve the mysterious problem. I...

what i mean by that is you have more than one page containing par can profiles. Wether you rename them or they are different colors or not, it is always not recommended to use a bunch of the same type (EG. Par cans) fixture page. it is better to have them all on one fixture page. Understand? Also I forwarded your show to our developers. Ah, get it. All fixtures of the same type on a single page. I see now how that will be much easier to program. Great Advice! Thank you. When I open up the edit screen, is there a way to change the color of a slider header to reflect the color of the par can controlled by that channel? I'll try enabling the speed function when I get home. What does it do? Should it be checked on for all pages? Or just certain fixture types?

This is something odd, but I'll post it anways. I recently acquired 4 ADJ Mega Bar 50's, and 4 Mega Panels. The Mega Bars still provide a somewhat "round" beam, at least in distance. Close up they definately wash wide. I had a bit of a time focusing these at a recent event. The Mega Panels, despite being rectangular, do provide a relatively round "beam". Re: Addressing cans on Compuware

Jingles8302 ·
On compu live you set up fixture pages. A fixture page can have several of the same fixture in it. When you set up a new page where it asks you starting address and number of fixtures, that's how you set up your number of fixtures in one page. For par cans you don't need a dimmer pack profile you can use from the generic folder par 36,56, or 64. These are one channel profiles best used for par cans. So for a dimmer pack with 4 channels and 4 par cans hooked up you just use a generic par...

Hello Zan and welcome to the forums. The reason you don't see a profile specifically for the DP DMX 20L is because if you'll notice in the "_generic" folder thEre are some profiles t labeled generic dimmer or par 56, par 64 etc that use just one dmx channel each. So instead of having just the dimmers it will give you a 3D object to use in the visualizer so that way you can see your par cans in the 3D. Does this make sense? Let me know if you have any more questions. Sincerely,

Well the stage setter 8 isn't really ideal for that type of fixture. The stage setter 8 is most suited for par cans and dimmer packs. singles channel effects. The stage setter 8 only offers 16 dmx channels. And your lights may very ell use more than that. In fact I'm sort of familiar with your LED par cans. They use anywhere from 4 -6 channels.
