Hi! Since Emulation has been discontinued for some time now, we are asking users to switch over to the developer version of the software as they have continued support and development of their programs, the Emulation software is called CueLux and the E-builder is simply called Builder, here is a link to their product page where you can download the latest CueLux release as well as the latest Builder software. https://www.visualproductions....ntertainment/cuelux/ If you switch Emulation over...

Re: Roller Rink Wash with LED?
You might want to try Pulsar, or ChromaKinetics - they have some LED fixtures that have a good output. But, at that height, you're pushing a LED product quite far; why are you choosing to use LED?
Reply
Re: White Balance issues
Discharge lamps will always operate at a higher color temp then halogens. You need to use the color correction filter on the color wheel (if the fixture has one) and warm up the color temp to 3250k-3050k to match your S4's. What elation fixture are you using.... we don't have a product just named Color Wash. Thanks!

Re: Design 36 LED
That just explains channel issues, not the strobing with internal programs and stand alone. The revision of the manual is from 12/06, and the 7 channel list is from 5/07, so the manual has yet to be updated for 7 channels or 6 channel lights are still being made/sold. What I stated is merely what was in black and white in front of me and what was sent with the product. It is also quite possible that PU lighting has an older, 6 channel version of the light and not the 7 channel. I know that...

Re: Design 36 LED
John and Ron , Thank you for your help on this problem. I am excited to hear that this might have a simple solution. I know that it is hard to please everyone with pre program effects but I feel strongly that this was a design flaw, and not just my picky personality trying to have my cake and eat it to. Given the time I would often write my own effects but when it comes to the people I am renting these units to just having them change colors without the strobing would make life allot easer.

Re: Octopod 80 disaster
Dear Ben, All Elation lighting fixtures are covered with a 2 year limited warranty that cover “manufactures defects”. The nature of the problem with your lights is not a manufacturers defect, it is corrosion cause by salty air near the ocean. This is caused with any lighting fixture not IP 65 Rated. In your case the installation was indoors, yet was proven to have been damaged as if they were mounted outdoors. Neither you, the installer nor Elation could have predicted such an outcome...

Re: Octopod 80 disaster
I was the customer rely on professionals and paid for. It is the installers first duty to care what you now want to say. It is the manufacters duty to describe his product e.g. "depend on certain invironment conditions". Your product is offered with guaranty and is to build into the ceiling. The ceiling always has different invironments. These lights were delivered to Florida, what would you expect in Florida at the coast line - dry air like the dessert or cold like Alaska or even rainy as...

So far you knew exactly which site it is as you have used the excuses. My wife was with you and elation staff several times on phone. Now as you mentioned the manufactor, the installer and I would not have known how this product works in this environment, I respond that I was the one who paid the installer and the manufactor who both now point on "they could not know" and still pocket the money. By the way it is not the ocean and salt environment as I know at least one place more with those...

Re: OPTI 30 RGB
Nice, any idea what the lumen output on the fixture will be? I like the advances Elation is making in the LED segment to make them more mainstream, and also like the advances in the moving head market. The flooding of the market with different wattage movers, high abilities, and very competitive price is great, means I can do more for less and makes clients happy. A few big problems I have with Elation is shipping, product availability, durability, and quality control. Fix these things, and...

Problem is jingles that your middle men don't do their job real well. I can tell you I ordered a PS575, within one month, the lens in the front had fallen out, and the dimmer didn't work. It also had a few other issues. They sent my advanced replacement out late, despite saying it would be there a certain day, and because it that, it hurt a show I was doing and lost money on it. About 6 months later, I ordered 2 PS575IEs. One light, 2nd show I used it for, about 3 weeks old and under 50...

Re: black lights
Not 100% true jingles, you can dim fluorescents with a Sine Wave dimmer, which are very expensive. All light sources emit UV. Nothing has the same effect as fluorescents because fluorescents output a lot of UV do to design. So much so that they are used to sterilize things. All fluorescents have a coating to block UV so it doesn't hurt anyone. Black light fluorescents don't have as strong a coating, allowing save levels of UV out. They are also colored purple because UV has no color...

Hi World.. Elation guy jumping in here. in the world of consoles in general the faders and buttons you commonly use will need to be replaced sometime or another.. sometimes sooner than later. With the Elation consoles we strive to use the good components to do the Job and not the best component made.. That is why you will see some lighting consoles for alot more money than the Elation product, and some consoles for less money. We believe our consoles are a great value for the price. However...

Re: ADJ X-Move LED moving head...will there be an elation version soon?
The other major thing I have heard is that in order to get LEDs to projector gobos, they have to be bounced off of glass mirrors or something like that. This would also cause a loss of light. So I don't think it will out put like an arc lamp any time soon. Optic trains on arc lamps just keep getting better and better. The other major thing lamp companies will have to look at is they will never have the sales like they do now if everything goes LED. They will continue to improve lamps for the...

I can't say I know it 100% inside and out, but I can get around it quite easily. I need to refer to the manual for programming it because I can't recall those steps. Other than that, the DMX Operator is my buddy. It is my reliable fall back for MyDMX. Issue 1: The scanner buttons. Each scanner buttonis...

Re: Audio Analysis
Please, write an entire chapter on the audio analysis and anything to do with sound to lights. It's not adequately covered in the manual. One thing that would be nice is for the audio analysis to not reset every time you open it. If I change the sensitivity from automatic to manual and adjust the level on it, it would be nice if the settings would save and be there when I open the audio analysis the next time. I think Elation underestimates how important sound to light is on the software...

Wow, that's gonna a be WAY over kill for this production. I see where you're coming from though. In this case, your experience is helpful, but I know for a fact there is just no way I can afford this unit, much less power it! The budget on this show is "whatever I can spare", and I've gotten word that I can give up the lighting search. Thanks for the advise though, I'm applying it towards a future purchase as I need stuff like that anyways. 4 IEC's? Crap. That's a lot. Seems like a 30-amp...

Re: Hazer/Fazer....confusion
Well, I'm in the decision making process but not the buying process. After some discussion you may have read on the ADJ forum, the product support manager said I should choose the Ice-101 for ground fog due to how he described behaviors of the Mr. Kool. But that's the sort of stuff I neede to hear. If I choose to save money on that route, I'm going to shoot myself in the foot. So, the Ice-101 looks like the choice to go with. I agree that DMX on a hazer can be seen as an over-kill element. I...

Re: Is is possible to submit concepts for new products?
I think right now, LED technology is maturing in two ways. First, trying to make LED performance on par with incandescent technologies, and second, making it affordable. Of course affordable is a relative term. Elation is no doubt the pricier brand, but you're getting more for more. I think the answer is that I'm sure Elation and ADJ are working on this. The 64 LED Pros that I have took some learning curve with some trial and error to find out how to best use those. While I like mine a lot,...

Re: Platinum Spot
Dear All. No... The Platinum Spot does not use Plasma. The new lamp in this fixture is called the MSD Platinum 5R by Philips and is a 160-180w lamp with output comparable to a 575w discharge lamp fixture. It has double the efficacy of the plasma source and the fixture is half the size also. We had a very successful launch of this product at LDI and more info will come out very soon.

Re: Elation WDMX
So in the few years since I have posted this, I have run into this problem over and over. It is more about the wireless internet being broadcast in the room than the product itself. Being a 2.4gHZ transmmitter, that bandwidth has just gotten so clogged that unless I can scan a room I won't use these units in it. I just had another reoccuring event we do switch from a WDMX system back to a hardwired system because of the signal getting stomped on by the resort's new wifi system.

Re: Platinum Spot
We appreciate your comments but yes...you are missing something very important! Raw lamp measurements are great but until you get a lamp in a fixture and in its optic system and then see how the lamp and look at the fixtures at the same beam angle you can't really tell the proper perofrmance. When you measure the TOTAL lumen output of the Platinum Spot 5R accross the entire light field then you start to see the advantage. This is why we say you have to see it to believe it! Yes the DS300 and...

Re: DP-DMX20L dimmer ... is it 20A or 15A max?
I don't doubt you in the least. Furman even makes an AC power conditioning product rated at 20 amps, and they know the problem is so prevalent that they even state that they won't honor the warranty if there are "Field modifications" made. My attitude is that I'm protecting 15 amps worth of gear, so I want the unit rated at 15 amps, mainly so I can pop my breaker instead of the house breaker. If anyone has seen a 20-amp Edison outlet, they'll note it's completely backwards compatble. So it's...

OK, let me jump in. Issue 1: Emulation. No, not Elation's "Emulation" software, but rather emulating a PC on a Mac. Look, it SUCKS. Well, let me take it a step further: Emulating anything on anything else SUCKS. You know, you have BootCamp with your OS. I know you're not happy with Windows. But, why aren't you using Bootcamp and just having SUCCESS? It's one of those things where if you're going to insist on fighting, you're going to lose. Stop losing, start winning for a change.
