Re: Newbie looking for help/advice

Thanks for the advice! Do these expensive movers only run off of computer programs? Or is there a simpler way of running them with simple functions? Such things as a board in the back of the room that turns them on/off, press a button and the twirl with this design, press another and the twirl with a different design... such things as that? If there is this easier function how hard is it to set up? I really don't have a lot of computer experience, truth be told I am the muscisian not the...

Re: ADJ X-Move LED moving head...will there be an elation version soon?

I've actually never heard of a single 20W LED that does RGB mixing. I am more curious as to what it really is. That being said if there are such things as 20W LEDS then it would just seem that they would eventually replace conventional bulbs. This would be different than the Impression. Basically take a design spot and replace the bulb with a bright led - less power and no fans! I appreciate you letting me know as I just bought 4 design spot 250's and was going to be mad at myself for not...

haha.. You made a great choice my freind. No LED moving heads will compare to Design Spot 250.. maybe in 2013.. maybe. Anyways.. its 20 1watt LED's really close together on one circuit board.. I have not seen it yet, but I confirmed it was 20 1watt LED's on a square grid.. Something like that. Best regards,

Hello, ybravo. i really like he design spot 575 cause you have so many features on it. for instance 2 rotating gobo wheels is almost unheard of on a 575 in that price range, CMY, animation wheel. i would say from a programming standpoint you could do more with a design spot 575 then a power spot 575. and i have not heard of the power spots coming in white. i'll look in to this for you. sincerely,

Power Spot 575 vs Design Spot 575. It really depends on what features you need. CMY, frost, zoom, animation wheel, iris, and dual rotating gobo wheels can be very useful and powerful tools. The question is do you need them? That is something you have to weigh out for yourself. Power Spots also don't come in a white form, only the DS line does. I can say from my stand point, I use iris a lot do to the nature of shows I do. So every mover I own has to have one. I can also say that the PS 575IE...

Serra.. I have to say you know your stuff! So i'll just say the same thing Serra said with a different twist. IRIS is an incredible feature with Iris pulse and being able to pinpoint objects. So the Power Spot 575IE gives you that option. -Now- The Power Spot 575ie literally weighs 42 lbs. This fixture is so light to hang you want to hug it. This is because it has a multi voltage electronic transformer, so you can plug it in 220V or 110V and it auto senses the voltage. If you ever run 220V...

Yes I own 8 DLED 36's and I just bought four Elation Design Spot 250's and Compu. I can't get the design spots to show their beams in the 3D viz...although it does show the channels are working in the DMX section of Compu. I will be adding four Tri64B's and five TriBrick DLED's 36. I am starting to program today...Compu just got here today (week late because FedEx couldn't find my house). The laptop also arrived today but the harddrive was broken so I have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday...

I never got a chance to hook it up to control do to missing parts. I do own several colorado 1 and they are not a good wash lite. They have a very bright narrow Beam and make good beam lights . I like my design 36 as a wash unit and use them in that fashion often. .

Jay- the problem may be with your Design Spot-250 profile. I don't recall it ever having a problem but from what you’re describing, it sounds like it was written incorrectly. Like John was describing, there is an option to set how you want your channels to react to fade time but it isn't in the Magic-260 controller. It's in the PC profile creator program. You can select between "Snap After Fade", "Snap Before Fade" or "Fade" for each channel. From what you're describing, the Dimmer channel,...

Thanks for the pics! Does the Design 36 have the plastic diffusion plate in it? Also, I compared a 575W S4 to a design 36 and the S4 is brighter on some colors (yellows, oranges, whites, etc...) but the DLED 36 makes a much more "dense" red, green, blue, pink, and teal. So I thought maybe getting the 3W DLED 108IP might be a better deal (wider beam and a bit brighter) compared to a DLED 26 without diffusion. However, after doing a show this weekend I have noticed that the musicians perceive...

Re: strobe

Unfortunately, yes it will. The simple way around this is to use a very small fixture, like a Par 16. Then simply use Black Wrap to cover the light so it emits no light at all. Black Wrap is black, heavy duty aluminum foil that is made for blocking light and also to withstand very high temperatures. Apollo Design and a few other companies make the stuff. I keep a roll of it in my work box, very useful.

Re: Design Spot 300 Pro Cooling

Hi TVLD, Inc and welcome to the forums. The Design moving head series's fans power down after the fixture cools to a certain point with the lamp off. It is nice because it allows you to leave the fixtures on all the time without the fans running. Just simply turn off the lamps and walk away. It also let's you know when the lamp is cool enough to power down. You should be able to change this setting in the menu if you want the fans to run all the time.

I can answer the first part of your question. MyDMX is indeed a DMX controller. MyDMX is software based as oppose to hardware based controller. Now as for how to copy them into a Design Spot 250, I am not sure. Some one from service will have to answer that. For creating scenes however, it will depend on how they are addressed. If both fixtures are using the same address, you simply have one fixture mirror the other and store the same look in them. If they are addressed differently, then you...

I hear ya on the overkill front. The reason I even have the Aquafogger is because I do stuff in which I need low-lying fog for long periods of time and it needs to stay that way for some theatre stuff I do. It is the extreme end of the spectrum with regards to low-lying foggers. They do make a 220v version, but 120v is easier for me since sometimes I don't have the ability to tap and get 208. Thus ,I have the 120v version. Only reason I bring up dry ice is because some people get fog...

Ahhh, makes more sense now, just a shorter arc source lamp. Make the point source smaller, make the light brighter. It would also be interesting to say that this new lamp is more efficient then plasma since they have Luminaire Efficacy Rating great then 90%, while arc lamps are normally around 55%. Since I have no specs on the new lamp, I can't calculate an LER for it, but I am sure it is higher then 55%. Ballasts still kill the efficiency of arc lamps and always will. Plasma likewise keeps...
