Re: DP-DMX20L dimmer ... is it 20A or 15A max?

studio42 ·
20-amp only? That must be reserved for some specific bit of hardware, best I could guess. That would make more sense in a hospital. I've never seen a 20-amp only outlet, always the typical 15/20 that has the T on the neutral for "compatibility". One thing I do these days with new venues is I have one of those pen-type devices that can detect a live circuit. If I have a live circuit, next thing I do is meter it and document that on a per outlet basis. I've only run into 1 problem: an outlet...

Excuse me for getting low tech and wanting to help you get the job done: 2 suggestions: Power strips/bars and extension cords. If the fuse won't handle the load, it depends where the fuse is inline, and clearly it's in the inbound portion. I thought it would be elsewhere. Use 4 per "daisy chain" and burn 10 or 11 outlets via power strips and extension cords. I mean, if I was under the gun like you are, and I did the math like you did, I'd have come to the same conclusion after about an hour,...

Sorry, I fail to see why one would rely on a web forum instead of getting on the phone for making a business purchase decision UNLESS you're in active online conversation with a vendor, VAR or retailer. Nightraven's answer could have easily been had in 15-20 minutes or less total time if a phone call had been made. A company called Hybrid Cases has cases for the products you want. I am from a place called Washington Township in New Jersey. its about 20 minutes directly south of Philadelphia, hence South Jersey (North Jersey and South Jersey should be different states with how different they are, you wouldn't know its the most densely populated state living in Southern Interior, nothing but trees and farms). Anyway, thanks for the complements. Been a few years since we were down your way. Last time we were down there, it was at the Desert Ridge Marriott in Phoenix.

Re: new cyberpak, not at full power

studio42 ·
OK, an Altman 6X12 draws 750-watts each. 2 fixtures is 1500-watts. Source Four draws 575 watts. The Cyberpak claims 2400-watts total output, but that's conditional on 600-watts per channel maximum draw. There is an output limiter, but that's still not going to address your problem. The problem is you need a higher capacity pack. The Cyberpack isn't going to be the right gear for your situation. The DP-DMX20L is 10 amps/channel, 20-amps total draw. This might be more allong the lines of what...

I did quick research on the fixture models to get my numbers. It's not surprising that Serra Ava informs me that these fixtures come in a variety of wattages. It doesn't surprise me, these are some decent fixtures. I still think you need to ugprade to another dimmer pack. While you're getting 100% draw out of the dimmer pack, you're not delivering 100% to some of your fixtures(probably). If you're drawing more tahn 600-watts/channel, this is definately not the right fixture for you. Not...

The DP-640B is 20 amp per 3 channels. Channels 1-3 are leg 1 and 4-6 are leg 2. Now, the new packs on them say 5.3 amp per channel max while the old ones are 20 amp per channel max. Now, I have put more then 5.3 amp per channel on the new ones with my reasoning being that the old ones can handle it (why make something that can handle less?), the new ones are UL certified, and they have 15/20 amp outlets on them. You can't put a 20 amp outlet on something that can handle 5.3 amps at the max,...

Re: Magic 260 "GO" button

Sergio cleared this up for me. As the manual makes clear, the GO button allows you to manually step through each scene of a show. The manual is not clear (at least to me) that the scenes will play automatically even if the "Manual" setting is set to ON if the TAPSYNC button is activated (in which case the GO button does nothing). So if you wan to use the GO button, make sure that the TAPSYNC buttong is off. [Hold it down for 2 seconds.] Thhe AUDIO button overrides the manual setting in...

Try that and let me know. Just hope it works for stuff programmed before the offset. That I have not tested. Let me know how it works please. Getting the fixture profiles installed on the M260 is a good start. Hopefully you chose profiles that used less than 16 DMX channels. If you profiles with a higher number of channels you will need to redo the installation with profiles with 16 or less channels. If you want to keep things simple for now, I'd suggest that you use a low - maybe even the lowest - number of channels for each fixture. You mentioned 20 fixtures and said you had others. The M260 can control up to 24 fixtures or 24...

All churches want to get more people in the doors. Just as a light bulb attracts moths, so does a well lit church. the better lit up it is, the more people that will be attracted to it. If it is poorly lit then moths are not attracted to it. Given the fact you have in house electricians will save you guys tons of $$. that is...

Re: Which Software?

Hands down compu show software. It has a palette function that allows you to record focus, color, position and many others. Say you had a scene that put all spots on the drums. And you had 20 of those scenes. All you have to do is create one palette with the movers in position on the drums and save it. Then use that palette for any drums position. Now if you get to a new venue and the drums are not in their usual spot all you have to do is update that one drums palette and EVERY single scene...

Re: help with building a matrix

wheresjc ·
OK Here goes. As of the last beta of CompuShow I tested, the profile editor still did not allow for a fixture to have multiple R, G, or B slots. Therefor, you can patch a matrix with the full profile but the effects will only work for pixel 1. (Very few console manufacturers have this capability built in to their consoles as of yet.) Build a Matrix of 3 Channel RGB Units. It can be handy to open a 3 channel LED fixture profile in the PROFILE EDITOR and name it Pixel and save it as Pixel.

A cycle is like a stack list or a cue list. say you created 20 scenes, but didn't want all of them to play and wanted them to play in a set order and time. If you create a cycle and select your scenes in the order you want then you can play them back based on a set time or duration of each scene or you can have all of them or some of them trigger as a "GO" function. I would say it is an output issue. Check to make sure the air intake in the back isn't block by anything. Also make sure to wait to turn it on after you fill it up with fluid. It takes a while for it to get through the sponge. You should also be able to sneak a DMX and a power cable through the slot in the lid, I have on many occasions. This video was shot about an hour after turning on a HZ-500 which is sitting just off down stage right behind the arch. Stage is 48' wide, 15' high, and 20'...

Snap is where each value starts or ends. for example if channel 1 has different colors, then lets say white is 11-20. the color white will come up before you go into the value range of the color. so there is no delay. thats how snap before works.

They always have power running to them but we turn off the lighting board when we aren't using it so the lights aren't always on. We cannot kill power to all of our lights, we have just over 20 lights in our contemporary service and just under 90 lights in our sanctuary, so killing power to all of our lights is not possible nor logical as it would take entirely too long to kill power then turn the power back on when we need them. Sorry for the late response on these question guys, I will try to explain DMX addressing now. The best way to describe DMX addressing is that it is like the postal system. First, you pick the address you want to send the letter to. Then the letter goes to the mail center, where it is sorted for delivery. Next, a mailman takes the letter and delivery's it to the address. The first step in setting up DMX system is you patch your console (Pick the address you want to send commands to). Since...

The other 20 we have are just fine. Is there a way to globally reset the fixture? Does it need a firmware update? Or is this our first (and hopefully last) RMA?
