John and Ron , Thank you for your help on this problem. I am excited to hear that this might have a simple solution. I know that it is hard to please everyone with pre program effects but I feel strongly that this was a design flaw, and not just my picky personality trying to have my cake and eat it to. Given the time I would often write my own effects but when it comes to the people I am renting these units to just having them change colors without the strobing would make life allot easer.

hello lemon! welcome to the forums. i think the problem your running into is the magic 260 controls only 16 channels per fixture. so if u want to run all the octopods as individuals you would have to buy more pixel drives in order to achieve this. because to control one set of octopods individually u would need a console that allows up to 48 DMX channels per fixture. u see the pixel drive and all 8 pods are considered (as far as your controller is concerned) as 1 fixture in the DMX line.

Hi Lemon, Yes.. right now, you can control each pod individually. if you use the 48 ch. mode. So each pod will be 6 channels each. So pack 1 will start at 001 pack 2 will start at 049 pack 3 will start at 097 Ch 1 is rainbow ch 2 red ch 3 green ch 4 blue ch 5 strobe ch 6 chase If you use ch 6 to engage a chase of which you have 8 chases. ch 1 becomes speed time, and ch2 becomes fade time.

Hi Jingles.. That's actually incorrect. He can assign 1 pod per fixture button. in the 48 channel mode, basically every octopod becomes its own fixture with 8 channels to operate. so if he uses the alkalite profile on his magic he basically needs to set each fixture to be an alkalite fixture. so if he has 24 fixtures then he has control of each pod. Each pixel drive can be one fixture, two fixtures, 4 fixtures or 8 fixtures. Best regards,

Welcome to the forums! For the dimmer packs, whatever address you set it to (129 for your example) tells you all the address for each light. light one will be 129 and light 2 will be 130, 4 - 131, 5 - 132. so just use the faders (channels 129 - 132) to turn on the par cans. @JPal Congrats on getting you accu spots working. now for the dimmer pack. This particular pack has 3 modes (as you already know) 1 channel, 2 channel, and 4 channel. Here is how they work: 1 Channel This setting allows all the lights plugged into the pack to be turned on/off using one channel. Meaning that if you set your pack to 1 channel mode and the address is at A129, when you turn on that fader all the lights will come on. 2 Channel This setting allows the four channels to be turned on...

hey estrello! you know the DMX programmer is a nice little tabletop controller and it holds a total of 96 scenes and u can then mix those scenes up into 4 chases as you see fit. i actually recommend the DMX operator 192 but i think for a small set up like yours try for the programmer. you can do a little bit more with the programmer than u can with the op. i would say e-mail me your info and we can send you out some instructional DVDs and then you can see for yourself which one looks easier...

Hi Jpal, That's what the guys were trying to explain to you. Your controller does not have pre generated movements. The feature you are asking about is only found in the Showdesigner series controllers and Compu live software. In your situation you will need to record multiple scenes. for example, if you want a circle on the wall or cieling. you need to position the light in one spot..then record that position into a scene, you then follow the same process till you have made about 4 - 8...

This is an easy one guys. create a profile in the 4 ch mode. ch. 1 = mode.. do you want to be in pattern mode or chase mode. You can select this using ch1. Ch. 2 = the pattern or chase your secting. Ch. 3 = speed of either the pattern or chase. you need to select this after you select a pattern or chase. ch. 4 = dimmer.. if you don't have the dimmer on full then you wont see any pattern or chase. The 10 Ch mode is confusing.. I put a call into the ADJ pros and waiting to here back. Best regards,

it doesn't work at all... the only button that works is sound active... I don't need the 10 channel, apparently that's just for independant control of each cluster... so forget that... 4 channel is the best way to run it anyway... that being said, if I make a generic 4 channel fixture file in freestyler dmx, I can console it into doing what I want, but that's not the software I want to use... on a side note. your spot 250 uses 6 DMX channel and the vue 3 uses 9. 9+6=15 DMX channels total. so you only have room for maybe one or two pars on the stage setter 8. might want to look into a bigger controller. like jthtigers DMX operator 192.

wow, thanks for answering none of my questions. Any profiles for the magic 260 for CB 12's. simple 3 channel, no strobe/fade funct. They work similar to octopod 80's. the pds 750 auto addresses fixtures xxx, xxx+3, xxx+6 etc.

Problem is jingles that your middle men don't do their job real well. I can tell you I ordered a PS575, within one month, the lens in the front had fallen out, and the dimmer didn't work. It also had a few other issues. They sent my advanced replacement out late, despite saying it would be there a certain day, and because it that, it hurt a show I was doing and lost money on it. About 6 months later, I ordered 2 PS575IEs. One light, 2nd show I used it for, about 3 weeks old and under 50...

we built little floor mounts for our led par196 lights, clamped one on the back of the bass amp for me (The drummer). we have 4 moving head mini wash lights that are also on the floor. there are 2 colorstrips on each guitar amp. It is a really easy setup, once our instruments and amps are in place we drop the lights and hook them up in less than 5 minutes. our next step i think is black lights.

Hey James - Yes, considering laptop or desktop computer for each Church this time around for ease of programming. Neither facility has ever used more than a light switch and a dimmer, so I hope by them NOT having experience, that the software is the easier route to go. The church in the pic above wants key light/features on the pulpit mainly. OK WELL THE PRO BLOCKS THE FIXTURES IN 16 CHANNELS EACH. THAT MEANS THAT FIXTURE BUTTON ONE CONTROLS CHANELS 1-16 AND FIXTURE BUTTON CONTROLS 17-32 and so on and so on. so if you wanted to put 1 led one each fixture button they would need to be addressed as follows. Continuing on now: The buzzing noise is known as lamp sing, it's caused by the power being turned on and off really fast. The way this is fixed is more expensive dimmers have what is known as a choke after the SCR so the power change is as dramatic as on/off. The better the quality of dimmer, the less lamp sing you will get. Now why non-dim isn't really non-dim. Despite you setting a dimmer to non dim, either via the pack or the console, the power still passes through the SCR and choke. So,...

There was a list of MASTER and about 4 or 5 other fixtures below that. As I double clicked each one, a list of Custom, Elation, and a few others came up. In the Elation list I saw the DLED lights but not the Spot 250 or the Acclaim lights. Did see the RIVA80 lights though, which are similar to the X-eyeHD lights from acclaim.

I forgot to ask you about the power wash that i have i have 3 machines for the stage everytime i use the chase for the colors the color wheel of one or another gets a mix of different colors. so when i finish using the chase and i want to wash the stage with just one color.. one or two machines will give diferent colors.. i have to reset the machine get all the colors back to a regular order.. is it a signal problem or the machine itself?

Our rep, Jeff Mathis, suggested that controller. The lights will be 8 Par64 LED PRO and 4 American PAR56 (with a DP20L dimmer pack). Most church will do is change colors on the LED and dim the PAR56 fixtures. True that the Magic 260 will run both kinds of lights?

Alright, the verdict is in. I setup a simple chase, and activated it with both the audio and auto modes. Auto worked great, as I was able to set the speed to about 4 seconds, and the fade to around 3.8. All scanners moved nice and slow to the next chase step, just like I want. HOWEVER... Activate the audio chase, and everything just sort of stayed in the middle, trying to catch up. Seems like the FADE still applies to the chases in audio mode as well. Any way around this? Is there any method...

Depends on the show Drew. More complicated shows generally have time to program, and its just like Elation_Pro said, someone hitting 'Go'. Sometimes, it is linked to time code, so no one is even hitting go. Cruise ships are a good example, all the shows run off of time code, and the show starts when the sound guy hits play. Jingles is correct that it is in the impedance of the cables. DMX is 110 ohms standard. The protocol also calls for 5 pin cable, when it only uses 3 wires. It was made 5 pin originally for expansion, so you could have 2 pairs running down one cable, or for other data of some sort. DMX is dieing however, so it will never be expanded to use the extra pins. Also, for longer runs, Jingles is right that you should only use DMX. Update! I have come up with a hardwired (literally) solution to the issue with fade time deactivation. I'll try to explain as clearly as I can, and apologize ahead of time if I lose anyone along the way. I'm using the Behringer FCB1010 to control the Operator 192 via MIDI. Hello. welcome. on the op 192 the 12 fixture buttons hold a total of 16 DMX channels each ok? so if u have 3 fixtures and u want each one of them to be on a separate fixture button the first fixture will have to be addressed to 01, the second to 17, the third to 33. let me know if this helps you out at all. ok? sincerely,

Hello Justin: There is no easy solution to this issue. What you need to determine is what do you use the most. Some people use 3 phase others use only single phase. Typically Hotel ball rooms small dance halls, etc. will only have single phase. Larger venues like arenas, convention centers, stadiums will have 3 phase. What venues do you typically do shows in ? Audia, I just saw this post.. are you still having issues? It sounds as if you need some DMX help over there. Using the fixture patch you should have the address of the fixture in the SD2 match the address of the dimmer.. If you not sure what the address is, the address is a 3 digit number that dimmer must have.. then a fixture button on the console should have the same 3 digit number. If these numbers don't match then you wont get any response. If you can't figure it out then we will need...

For one, you will learn a lot about DMX lighting and how to accomplish many different things. oh ya sorry I guess I Musca forgot that part in the video. Sorry. Yes you simply hold down the shift key and it will move all the relative faders for the same fixture types. For e ample if u have 4 ds250's and 2 power spot 250's and u click on a ds 250 fader and hold shift it will move all the ds 250 faders for that channel. Sincerely,

Ok, last question before I go to bed. Since I don't have any moving head fixtures just yet it was hard to justify buying the software. However, I threw up some of DLED 36's and I can do some great effects with these that are not possible on my show designer 1. Ok tell me how to accomplish this in the real world. 1. I want to create a dimmer chase for Design LED 36's that I can save and then overlay on any of my other static DLED 36 scenes. i.e. Say I have 3 scenes programmed for my DLED's.
