ok confirm you have line voltage going to the PSU (please use a meter also observe safety guidelines since its high voltage) if you have 120V then its time to swap the psu.

Platinum Spot 35... Just... shoot me now

Allen Stevens ·
When this club opened, it could have been an Elation crown jewel showroom. I think we had 24 each of the PSpot35's, PSpot 15 Pro, PSpot 5r Pro as well as several dozen PBeam 5r and 12 PBeam 15's. Also an impressive array of Event Bars, 32 in all. Despite a fairly dedicated crew and regular maintenance schedule, fixtures started dropping like flies within the first year. Warranty repairs were spotty, but they happened. Then everything was out of warranty, and the real carnage happened. Coming...

Platinum Spot 5R Not Powering On

CHEffects ·
The lamp and fuse blew in my fixture. I replaced the lamp and borrowed a fuse from another working Platinum Spot 5R to get this fixture up and running but the fixture does not power on when plugged in. I used the DC Switch button to power on the menu with the internal battery. I reset lamp hours to 0, reset last run hours to 0, restored factory defaults, and turned off hibernation but it still does not power on. Can anyone help me with this?

Platinum Spot 5R Pro fan speed

adamlive ·
I've got a 5R Pro fixture that I finally figured out had an intermittent fan speed issue that was causing the fixture to overheat and burn out lamps after just a couple shows. Replaced the fan and it runs cooler, out of the danger zone. But still too close to the danger zone, it gets as high as 200F (93C) even though the ambient temperature is low. I feel like I can hear the fan change speeds when the head flips over. Is that a real thing? The manual says there's a fan control setting (High,...

Re: Platinum Spot 5R Pro fan speed

Ricardo C. ·
The first thing I would check is if the fan is installed in the correct direction. Having the fan installed incorrectly can cause overheating issues. If you have another fixture that is working properly, I would make sure your fans on the problem unit are installed in the same direction.

Re: Platinum Spot 5R Pro fan speed

adamlive ·
Thank you - it's going the right direction for sure. I'm not convinced it's running at full speed. It could be a temperature sensor or something but if I could manually set the fan speed to high (like in the manual) it could solve the problem and/or be a permanent fix at this point.

Platinum spot 5r pro missing fan menu

samwho10 ·
Hello everyone. Today I was using the V1.0 Plat Spot 5R Pro menu to help me find the fan control. According to the manual it is in the personality menu and between Status Settings and Display Settings. On my fixture which is running V1.1 there is no such menu. I can not find a V1.1 menu anywhere online and I have gone through the menu on the head and can not find anything to do with Fan control. Can anyone help?

Re: Platinum Beam 5r Gob Rot1 error

ELA GINES ·
a gobo error can have multiple causes, first check to see if the magnet is present, also check the magnet /sensor orientation as well. also make sure the gobo is in its correct spot. if not successful check continuity from sensor harness to driver. if the problem persists check the PCB. lastly physically check the rotation and make sure the stepper is ok. regarding shutter, are you able to physically open the shutter (make sure the unit is unplugged) if not then the stepper may have seized

Platinum Wash ZFX Flickering Issue

Vilkas ·
My client has some Elation Platinum Wash ZFX Pro units in a permanent event space install. I do an annual maintenance sweep for them. Last year a couple of the units started to flicker when they get close to full on (R, G, B, W emitters all at or near full). If you take the edge off and lower some intensities, the problem goes away. I replaced the LED driver boards in both units and the problem went away. Fast forward a year and the same two units are showing the exact same problem. All the...

Greetings, you will need to replace the wiring harness that goes from the base to the led via the arm.. this typically will resolve the issue. (red/blue wires) UPDATED WIRING HARNESS FOR EPW880 (elationlighting.com)

greetings, yes i work for elation, we have seen this issue on units with higher hours on them. over time the current demand increases slightly and the existing cable is not quite thick enough. this being said there maybe other issues which may require attention but based on your description this typically resolved the issue.

I am facing same problem, there are 6 elation wash are flickering in my rig only whenever I turn white color or dimmer color on. no flickers in blue , red ,green,.i had parked white color for some lights looks good some times suddenly flickers. i feel it is main PCB issue not the cable . main power cable (red&blue ) seems good because I checked with multimeter they are giving right volts 28.28.

Hi there! Yes. I succeeded changing the cable for the new version. Problem is solved. Did you meter power at the head with all emitters at full? I definitely found that with everything at full juice, there was a slight voltage drop that I thought at the time was negligible, but it turns out it was the cause of the issue. The new wiring harnesses I installed looked and felt identical to the old ones, but definitely solved the problem. My only guess is that the original harnesses must have had...

Re: Platinum spot 5R Pro pan sensor

greetings, i assume you are referring to the optical sensor? if so make sure the sensor is evenly spaced between the detection wheel, then leave enough space for the wheel to rotate without touching the sensor. Try to be as close as possible again without touching. then tighten the screws and test.

Re: Platinum spot 5R Pro pan sensor

Yes it is the optical sensor. Seems as though there was an issue with the sensor itself. working good at this time. There just seemed to be a fair amount of adjustments possible. Giving all the adjustability I felt maybe there was a bit more to it.

Platinum FLX Pan Movement and Home Position

Adam Grazier ·
I have a platinum FLX that, when operating the PAN on the unit, is is jumpy (moves about 40-45 degrees at a time, instead of smoothly from left to right). Also, when the unit is powered on, the "home" position is about 3-4 degrees clockwise. Is there a way to reset this or fix this? Do I have a bad PCB somewhere?

Re: Platinum FLX Pan Movement and Home Position

Are there any errors? if not it could be a driver issue, also check the belt tension as well. make sure the belt has a firm belt adjustment and not loose.

Re: Platinum FLX Pan Movement and Home Position

I have no errors on the fixture and the belt is tight. I even tried swapping the PCB the motors and sensors get data from (PCB11840B), without any change. Could it be a firmware/software issue?

I’m having the same problem. Platinum spot 35 pro, strikes but immediately goes dark. Appears that the arc doesn’t stabilize. Hoping it’s not the ballast as it’s buried in the base and seems like a lot of stuff has to be removed to get to it.

Platinum Wash ZFX Pro Zoom stuck

MrE1998 ·
I’m having issues with some of my Zfx wash pros where they’re stuck at a specific zoom degree and won’t respond to controls. Does anyone have suggestions what may be keeping it from working? I’ve tried factory resetting and manually controlling the zoom from the fixture itself but no luck.

Re: Platinum Wash ZFX Pro Zoom stuck

ELA GINES ·
over time the small hex nut can tighten up causing the linear motors to bind. try backing them off 1/2 turn and retest. if not successful then the linear motor maybe fatigued and require replacement.

Where in the fixture is that hex nut/motor? The head, arms or base?

sorry it would be on the end of the linear motor itself, email parts at elation lighting . com and ill send a picture.

I went ahead and tried loosening the 3 hex nuts that half turn, but during testing I don’t see/hear any of the 3 the motors run at all. Would it be all 3 went bad at the same time or potentially something else in the board not sending power to those 3 motors?

Re: Platinum Wash ZFX Pro Zoom stuck

I tried tracing the power lines but just making sure, the power for those 3 motors is on the backboard connected to J20-J22, correct?

check voltage at the linear motor, it is possible for all to go out since they work equally.

Hi sorry to see you are having issues, 1) Are there any error codes on the units screen? 2) Has the unit been working fine and then all of a sudden no lamp output or was there any kind of "trigger" (power outage, spike, lighting strike, etc) 3) How is the unit controlled/powered normally?
