Re: Stage Pak 1 how to set up?

Jingles8302 ·
Good job jthtiger! But flipper what ever you do DO NOT plug your DMX lights in to the DP-415!! never plug your DMX lights into a dimmer pack as it will ruin the the DMX hardware and motors in your intelligent lights. also i believe your stage setter 8 that came with your pack should have enough channels for your lights. but can u tell me how many pars you have/plan to use? let me know and i can be of further help. sincerely,

on a side note. your spot 250 uses 6 DMX channel and the vue 3 uses 9. 9+6=15 DMX channels total. so you only have room for maybe one or two pars on the stage setter 8. might want to look into a bigger controller. like jthtigers DMX operator 192.

I mostly program individually, but now I do see a problem... If the fixtures were stacked this way, grouping the lights for on the fly manipulation would be pretty impossible. I use that function quie a bit to cut down on programming, and the fact that there are only 8 fixture chases. You can use the same chase with a different color and/or gobo and create a very different effect. One more question while I am at it. Is there any way to keep the lights grouped while changing scenes? With one...

Yes. have no fear you run your DMX through the pixel drives much kinda like a dimmer pack if you will but more suited for the rivas. you will still have all the control you need. for each set of 8 you get you will get a pixel drive with it. they are sold as a set of 8 anyways but you can purchase more individual pods as well as pixel drives. understand?

OK WELL THE PRO BLOCKS THE FIXTURES IN 16 CHANNELS EACH. THAT MEANS THAT FIXTURE BUTTON ONE CONTROLS CHANELS 1-16 AND FIXTURE BUTTON CONTROLS 17-32 and so on and so on. so if you wanted to put 1 led one each fixture button they would need to be addressed as follows. (assuming they are 6 ch's) led 1:001 led 2:007 led 3:017 (that would be on fixture button 2) understand where im goin with this? if you have dip switches here is a helpfull tool DIP SWITCH CALCULATOR Sincerely,

drew, are you talking about timing the DMX operator pro shows? If so, yes, you have to time it all with calculators and a bit of calculus! Regading live shows, you basically have to have a live operator. That's the way its done in the real world. You have all your cues (scenes) all stacked up nicely in a show (cycle) in the order your going to play them. Then for timing you set them to "GO". "GO" allows the scene to cue up till you hit "GO" again then it take you the the next scene in the...

Re: dxm operator pro

If you are running DMX 500+ feet, I would highly recommend a DMX Branch or Opti Splitter of some sort. More then 1000' and you will need one because the signal drops off at that point. An opti-splitter does more then isolate. It also helps amplify DMX signal like a DA (distro amp) does for video. The isolation also isn't for lighting strikes, it helps if you have faulty power or your console and fixtures are running off of a different ground. This can cause problems just like in audio,...

Dimmers, I daisy chain those things forever and they don't care, and I am talking racks upon racks upon racks. Movers, depends on the brand and length of cable in question. Some days it's 16, others it's 20, sometimes I can only get 6 on before the 7th starts acting up. If your last fixture in line is acting funny, and a terminator isn't helping, chances...

Re: Couple quick questions..

As far as computers are concerned, there are generally two fronts. The first is the ability to run your lights entirely from a software-based controller (like CompuWare), connected to a USB widget/dongle to send the DMX signal to your fixtures. The second one is the ability to trigger your regular DMX controller/console trough the use of MIDI triggers from a computer. In this situation, everything is programmed into the controller just like you would do for normal operation via the...

Re: Is there a 250 spot that will mix color like this?

bdunard, Yes, a wash will be about from 40 brighter than a spot. You have a lot more light being projected along a bigger beam of light. However, that's all a wash fixture does.. color change.. but the beam of light it projects is impressive. Most rigs require a 1 to 1 ratio where you have 1 wash to every spot. So if you have 8 Spots you should also have 8 washes. But with the Frost filter of the Design Spot's it helps resolve not having to buy so many washes. Still the wash effect of a...

Yes, what you are describing are what a console would call a scene. A Scene is just a bunch of lights recorded (saved) to look a certain way when you bring up that scene. So for example, if you made scene 1 nothing but blue lights, when you hit scene 1 the blue lights would come on. If you made scene 2 red lights, the red lights would come on with scene two. If you made scene 3 red and blue lights, both the red and blue lights would come on when scene 3 is up. A series of scenes is called...

Yes, you have 96 pages that you can add to 8 different books in different ways for each book. The console doesn't say how many pages per book, so I assume you can use as many as you want. Don't quote me on it though. Sometimes you will see something like number of steps per show or chase. So if it says 40 Steps per Show, that would mean each of your books can have 40 pages in it, but you can make up 96 different pages to use in the case of the DMX Operator Pro. Don't think of CompuLive so...

Hi Mike, The stage setter 8 is a straight forward controller channels 1-8 or channels 1-6 consecutivly. So the controller will always give you the same results. I think the best thing for you would be to contact Chauvet and see whats up with the Color Pallette.. It has some pretty complex channel assignments, and if you address them to 1 for simplicity sake they should do the same thing. For other channel or menu setting on the Color Palette you need to work with chauvet. Best regards,

Re: Dip Switch Calculator

serraava ·
This is provided the lights use binary, switch one=1, two=2, three=4, four=8, five=16, six=32, seven=64, eight=128, and nine=256. Some lights use there own 'odd' settings, like HES Trackspots for example. Both the settings for a Universal Controller and DMX are different from binary. Read your manual before you assume it is binary, or look on the back of the light by the dip switches. A lot of lights tell you what the 'code' is for their dip switches.

You are saying all the lights work ok when controlling with compu, but when you switch it to the x-fade the leds go nuts? If so, they are probably losing dmx since the x-fade is only 6 channels.
