When I plug the cue cable into 3 pin fixtures...the software controls these fixtures just fine.

I have Elation Opti Tri 30 LEDs which are 5 pin. When I use a 3 to 5 pin adapter (I have tried 3 different ones) I get no control over the lights. Under options I then get the following once I plug in the 5 pin.

"this is not an elation cuecable"

I do not get this when plugged into a 3 pin fixture. I have even tried coming out of the 3 pin fixture and then into the 5 pin fixture. Same thing happens.

I'm running Windows XP professional, version 2002, service pack 3. When I fire up the program with the cue cable attached (before plugging into a 5 pin fixture i get the following:
PCB version 1.2
Firmware Version 1.03
Emulation Version 1.03 build 26 for Windows

It would seem to me that the cue cable is the Elation cue cable since it runs the 3 pin fixtures just fine. I would appreciate any quick help on this as I have a show this coming Saturday that I will need to use this software with 5 pin fixtures.

Thanks.

OK, we have some questions for you.

- are all 3-5-adapters of the same make?
- if you made them yourself, which pinout/wiring did you use? (just to check for a obvious wrong-wiring, I hope i don't insult with this question :-)
- if you bought the adapters, could you give us a link to the article, so we can check the pinout/wiring?
- does the 5-pin equipment work well on a different controller? (maybe cabling is fine, but the fixture has a problem)
- does the CueCable have the name "Emulation" on it?

The 3-5 adapters are all different. We use them every week with our lighting set-ups using Martin Light Jockey and they work fine.

I have also tried it with a couple of different Elation Opti Tri 30 fixtures and still have the same problem.

Yes...the cue cable has a velcro strap on it that says "Emulation"
Johnny Dee,

i went ahead and tried this and it worked fine. might be the adapter you are using. i used an opti tri par that uses five pin i went from my cue cable to an adapter 3pmale to 5pfemale. i have full control over the unit. theoretically it makes no sense that it would control your 3 pin fixtures and not the 5 pin fixtures. the only thing we can have you do is change the adapters you are using.
