In This forum you can discuss tips, tricks, and troubleshooting for Elation's Next Generation Compu Live software, "Compu Show".

It's becoming a problem, but let me explain so it doesn't appear I'm ranting about CompuShow.

I'm being pressed into more and more situations where people are waiting until showtime to produce their music, and when they bring it, it's a .mp3. Fortunately, from what I've learned, adding files into CompuShow isn't a big deal, since the simple scenes are already made.

Here's the thing: CompuShow doesn't really like .mp3 files. I personally hate them with the fire of a thousand suns. Alas, it is what it is. I need to have CompuShow and it's related components be able to handle .mp3's.

I have a show in 2 weeks and I know NOBODY will provide the file in the right format and I simply won't have time on-site to do the conversion.

Regardless, I'm sticking with CompuShow. I love it. I just want it better.

I do have another request:

Palettes, at least color palettes. I think these should be better organized. Here's why:

I was going between two show files. One for Friday was simpler, but had more sets of color palettes. The other for Saturday, was a MUCH more complex show, but simpler on the palettes. What nailed me is that I needed to pull a color for Saturday but it wasn't available. I was angry, but I stayed controlled. It took me a bit to realize where the problem came from. However, the worse case scenario is if I have to copy/paste over all the palettes from one show to another, then as long as the ones from my "Bombshells" grouping show up again under a "Bombshells" tab, then I don't care. However, I also haven't taken the time to do this yet.

With the new stuff I've learned about CompuShow, it's becoming better and better for me to use. I feel the need to investigate more physical controllers for use with CompuShow, and thank goodness Elation offers the MIDICON, which makes me not have to do as much research on other stuff. I am training my crew on basic CompuShow lighting this weekend! We have a project to work on that will force them to learn CompuShow, Easy3D and EasyShow. NOw, I had issues with all 3 over the weekend, but all were minor and other than those nuisances, the shows were AWESOME and CompuShow was key to the success of those back to back events!
