Non-Responsive Program

I'm using an Elation Compu Live 1024EC interface and it seems like I've tried just about every troubleshooting effort to get my lights to respond. I'm running 4 Martin SCX500s, 2 American DJ Galaxians, 4 ADJ Mega Bar LEDs and 2 ADJ Pro Par 56RGBs. My Martin scanners respond eradictally and a few of them won't hold their assigned addresses. My American DJ fixtures don't seem to respond to most commands. I've done everything from switching DMX cables around, rearranging DMX addresses, isolating the control of individual fixtures with the interface, etc. but still no luck.

Ernesto, Welcome to the forums. Sorry your having trouble. Can you tell me the following:
Version date of the compu live software your using? you can find the version date by clicking on the "?" and selecting about.

How long is your DMX cable run in feet from dongle to last fixture in the chain?
Are you using a DMX Terminator?
Are you using any sort of DMX splitter or booster?
Can you verify your interface is being detected by the program and is sending DMX?

Hello James and thank you for your quick response! The version date that I'm using is June 8, 2010 - 1 SL 1024EC. As far as DMX cable lengths, I have a variety but for the most part I use anywhere from 5-10 ft. I'm not using anything as far as a DMX terminator, splitter or booster. I'm not exactly sure how to verifry if my interface is being detected by the program other than having all three display lights turned on (green, red & orange).

ok all three lights on is a good thing. yes you maybe using 5-10 feet but i need to know TOTAL length. Is it over 100 feet? maybe closer to 75 feet?

The total length would definitely be over 100ft when I connect all my fixtures but the same thing is occurring when I reduce & isolate individual brand models.

Try putting a known troublesome fixture on one 5 foot cable and see if you still have trouble. That will tell us if it is the fixtures or signal length.

i have a question on this . is there a certain about of feet that you cant go above for everything to work right ?

if so what is the fix if you are running like 175 200 feet of cable ?

Hey Sonic, we tell people 75-100 feet. after that needs a booster. This is because the DMX is powered by USB which is really not like plugging in a console to a 120Volt wall outlet. Our Opto-branch 4 is a splitter/booster.
if your running 100+ feet with no issues, you are one lucky S.O.B.

Or you have REALLY good DMX cables.

Well I uninstalled the Elation Compu Live software on my computer and reinstalled it and my scanners now seem to work like normal. As I tried to reprogram my American DJ Mega Panel LED fixtures, I noticed there's only one choice in the library - 7-channel mode. Is there any way to create a 26-channel mode for the ADJ Mega Panel LED fixtures in order to get the full effect? Thanks!

Well here's the latest with my interface: the Martin SCX500 scanners are now working perfectly but none of my American DJ fixtures are responding to any of the commands. I've tried programming them all together and then individually. I have the current American DJ fixtures in my setup: (2) ADJ Galaxians, (4) ADJ Mega Bars, (2) ADJ Mega Panels & (12) ADJ Pro Par 56RGB cans.
