I just purchased some Platinum 5R spots and beams. We hung them on the truss with the menu pointed forward (toward stage front, truss in back). We use Compulive and when we center the fixtures the are center 90 degree opposite of the American DJ fixtures (Vizi 5r's) they replaced and they move 90 degree opposite of the 3D Visualizer program. To get them to move in accordance with the visualizer, we need to rotate the fixtures 90 degrees which cause the menus to be facing the insides of the truss rather than the front and all the connections are the sides. The handles are then facing the front and rear of the stage.

Is this standard for Elation fixtures? Are they supposed to be hung with the handles forward? I need some help here.

Thanks so much.

On the underside of the 5r there is a mark that marks the front of the fixture. I don't recall if it's on the same side as the menu or not. Once they are facing the front...in your dmx software you may need to invert the x or y to match them up. That's what I had to do in Lumidesk.

I agree with CMB. I did the same for a show I did with Cupid (Cupid shuffle, Cu Step, ETC) at a bar in Wi. Smiler I didn't even use the arrows I just pointed them all facing the same way which was with one line of truss going across front of stage and one line going across the back of the stage I had all the LCD screens facing backstage that way the audience couldn't see them. but I had to invert the pan and tilt in the page settings for it to match what I had programmed according to the 3D visualizer. It can be confusing but just play around with it before you start programming. Once it is set up correctly you don't have to worry about it anymore.
Sincerely,
