Hello,
I have been running Compu Live for a little less than a year now, and have gotten fairly savvy with the programming, but there is one thing that I wish was more efficient: I would like to be able to create a new scene or edit an existing one and select exact custom light colors quickly for each fixture.

For example, I am running 8 P64 LED Pros and 8 Design 36 LED's (DLED). Let's say I want half of the Pros to be "purple" (with pre-determined-by-me RGB values), and the other half to be "light blue" (again with specific RGB values). Let's also say that I want the "same" colors for the DLED's. Of course my RGB values (for the Pros vs. DLEDs) for the "same" color will be different b/c the lights just perform differently (I determined my RGB values based on visual perception, not necessarily identical DMX values). So, essentially, I have 4 RGB configurations to apply to 16 fixtures.

Currently, to achieve this scene, I have to physically adjust RGB faders for all 16 fixtures...or create 4 RGB configurations and copy them to the other 12. I know this sound lazy, but when you factor in the fact that I can have as many as 50 more scenes with all sorts of combinations, it can take a WHILE.

What I would like to be able to do is create or find some sort of shortcut "color key". For example, if I could select a "Pro - Light Blue" or "DLED - Purple", "DLED - Yellow", etc., then apply it to certain fixtures in the Scene Edit mode, it would save so much time.

I know I'm wishing for the stars here, but then again, there are a lot of things that this program will do that I just don't know or haven't thought to ask about.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

Sounds to me like you are looking for palettes. Palettes are pretty much 'looks' for different lights. For example, you can grab your 6 DLEDs and with one button make them whatever color you would like, or any number for that matter.

These can also be used on like fixtures. RGB lights can use any RGB color palettes, CMY palettes on any CMY light, etc etc. There are also beam, groups, and postion palettes. Very powerful tools for programing and time savers.

It would be very neat if Compu Live could add a palette system into it. Unfortunately, this is doubtful. You generally only see palette systems on higher end desks, though they are creeping into the mid range segment now.
Yes, Serra, what you are describing would be incredibly useful...especially the position pallets. Man, talk about a time saver when you get to the gig and realize your stage isn't exactly like you planned. Instead of physically adjusting EACH X and Y for EACH head in EACH scene, the palette tool seems way more efficient.

Jingles, the quicker copying method (shift key) you describe helps, but still does keep me from having to re-create those colors initially for each scene. The palettes seem like exactly what I was looking for.

Any plans for adding those to Compu Live?
