EZ Kling with LED Tape

Guy Hundere ·
Will EZ Kling work with 3-wire LED tape? I've successfully made a KlingNet connection from Arkaos GrandVJ which is reading the settings I entered on the device. However, nothing is happening on my LEDs. I'm using a WS2811 strip so there is no clock connection. I'm making an assumption that EZ Kling can auto-detect though I can find nothing about it in the documentation.

Hi, I believe it will work on most common pixel IC chips. But one thing to ensure is you are using actual pixel tape and not just "dumb" LED tape. (Whole string is one pixel)

Thanks. No, I don't have a DMX controller. The reason I bought this item was so I could do lighting control without a DMX controller. If I understand you correctly, the EZ Kling will work with LED strips that have only 3 wires so the clock line is not needed. Right? The documentation that came with it has very little info. I may be able to figure it out if I could get more verbose info about the abilities and protocol for this unit. I didn't find anything on your website. Can you point me to...

If you have a DMX controller, you can try the DMX connection to feed data to the tape to see if it works.

Thanks. Yes, I'm using true pixel tape. It works with my Arduino board where I can address each pixel individually. When I set the EZ Kling mode to "Klingnet RGB Tape" the first 26 pixels on the tape turn on white at full brightness. Is there another application recommended by Elation that I can use to test if the network is working properly?

Perfect. That's what I needed to know. Thanks again for the help.

Hi, so after looking into this, the EZ-Kling is compatible with our older generation of flex Pixel tape, which uses ICS APA102 Pixel type chip/LEDs. I am not aware of any other supported Pixel types, sorry.

and as a note, the EZ kling only supports 5V tape.
