Can the Martin M1 light controller be converted from 5 pin to 3 pin dmx? Can this be done at the output of the board or does each individual light need an adapter?

Hi, all you need to do is place the .EXE installer onto a USB stick, plug it into the console and run the fixture library update from the settings menu on the console. You cannot import individual fixtures from the exe, you need to let it update the whole library. This is the way it has always been done.
