Re: led moving head idea

elationpro ·
Hey Jingles.. What's new?? Color mixing is interesting. When you have RGB. This is considered addative color mixing. What this means is, if you have Red at 100%, Green at 100% and Blue at 100% you get white. CMY is subtractive color mixing.. If you do all the colors at 100% this will give you black, or the colors go away. CMY is only useful if you have a white source to back it up, like in a moving head, the source is comming from the lamp.

Hey John, I can have all 4 dimmer packs hooked up with everything running fine. I run up the dimmers to 100% on one channel for reference and everything will be fine. As soon as I hook up any of the 4 dynasty scan's into the chain the par's that I have at 100% will go out and then all the par's just flicker at random and any scan's that are hooked up will also flicker.

Hmmm.. It sounds like you are having data issues. This means that either one of the cables is not working well. or 1 light or dimmer has a bad output. Here is what I recomend. Try connecting one thing at a time. 1 dimmer, then 1 light, 1 dimmer then 1 light I think you will find the problem this way. As you connect each dimmer, make sure you bring intensities to 100% before you connect the next light. When you find the problem, change the cable. And if all the cables are good, then change...

Problem is jingles that your middle men don't do their job real well. I can tell you I ordered a PS575, within one month, the lens in the front had fallen out, and the dimmer didn't work. It also had a few other issues. They sent my advanced replacement out late, despite saying it would be there a certain day, and because it that, it hurt a show I was doing and lost money on it. About 6 months later, I ordered 2 PS575IEs. One light, 2nd show I used it for, about 3 weeks old and under 50...

Re: black lights

Not 100% true jingles, you can dim fluorescents with a Sine Wave dimmer, which are very expensive. All light sources emit UV. Nothing has the same effect as fluorescents because fluorescents output a lot of UV do to design. So much so that they are used to sterilize things. All fluorescents have a coating to block UV so it doesn't hurt anyone. Black light fluorescents don't have as strong a coating, allowing save levels of UV out. They are also colored purple because UV has no color...

I apologize in advance for the very long and off topic post I am about to post. SCR dimmers work by chopping the sine wave of AC. This is how they 'dim'. AC is a wave. DC is a line. Now when power is created, is is created by a magnet spinning in a coil at 60 times per second, thus 60hz AC. This is how and why the wave is created. The little sine wave above, the start as 0 degrees, the first peak point as 90 degrees, the next mid point as 180 degrees, and the bottom peak point is 270 degrees...

Continuing on now: The buzzing noise is known as lamp sing, it's caused by the power being turned on and off really fast. The way this is fixed is more expensive dimmers have what is known as a choke after the SCR so the power change is as dramatic as on/off. The better the quality of dimmer, the less lamp sing you will get. Now why non-dim isn't really non-dim. Despite you setting a dimmer to non dim, either via the pack or the console, the power still passes through the SCR and choke. So,...

Oh No, We have had this controller for over 10 years (i think. . .at least 7). The problem is that when you push some of the faders up to 100% it skips down to 30% and flashes around. It is kinda hard to explain. You push it up and it hits 100 then jumps back and forth between 30 and 100. Does that make sense? We just need another one. About the 192 not being satisfactory, you would have fast control over lots of faders. All you would do is it one button, and then change the faders. There...

Right click on the page for your hazer, then go to settings. On the top left click on channels, and you will see the channels for that unit. On the channel you want the fader to control, select "enable DIMMER function". Once this is done, go to the edit page for that switch and set the level 100%, then your fader will control it.

Re: lighting intensity and throw distance

Well, that all depends on beam size and throw distance. How bright something is over distance is can be determined by lumen's. How bright something is over a given area is foot candles or lux. Foot candles are lumen's/ft^2, so it is a more actuate method of how bright something will be over just lumen output which is based off of a single point instead of actually beam size. FC is considered old, but one FC equals 10.764 lux, though some just use a factor of 10 to simplify things. Warning,...

i'm not 100% sure on the Magic 260. But on the Show Designers' you have an option to have special settings on each channel. So for example on a Gobo Channel you will want a snap before setting and on a dimmer you will want a cross fade setting. I think your Magic 260 has a snap before setting instead of a cross fade setting. Check out your modify fixture settings if there is any. I will check this out Mon morning. Let me know how it goes. I believe your issue is that each fixture on the 'Fixture' button represents 16 channels. Since you address the lights in numerical order, the 'Fixture' buttons won't line up. So fixture 1 is really channels 1-16. Fixture 2 is channels 17-32, then 3 is channels 33-48 and so on. Try setting your first group of lights to channel 1 making them Fixture 1. Then your second group of lights as channel 17 making them Fixture 2. Lastly, your last group of lights to channel 33 making them Fixture 3.

If the space is small, the X310 will have no issues hazing the room out at about 10%. Running at 10% constantly, I have ran the machine for as long as 12 hours and used maybe a quarter of a tank, so he won't run out of fluid fast. Even running at 100%, it still takes a couple of hours to burn through the tank. The X310 is very efficient in its use of fluid.

i'm thinking as misbeam said, the data strength of the COMPU box is not the strongest. This is why we recommend an OPTO DMX SPLITTER be used in conjucntion with the Compu Box. There is usually no problems when you have short distance runs, but if your running FOH with a starting distance of say 100+ feet then the USB interface seems as if it doesn't transmit a strong enough signal. This is mainly due to the fact that it is powered by a USB port. The DMX Splitter will amplify the signal and...

Also make sure that your master fader, preset fader, memory fader, and cross fade fader are at 100% as well, otherwise the lights won't turn on depending on what mode you are in. Snow machines are basically a glorified soap blower. As such, they go until they run out of fluid. No warm cycle either. They are very loud though, so keep that in mind. They tend to sound like a leaf blower. The S-200 is a 'silent' snow machine. It has the same size blower as the S-100 II , but costs more do to the silent part. As for power draw on the hazers, its next to nothing since they are just a small air compressor, a fan, and a pump. They draw a few amps at most.

Eric is correct in that footcandle measurements use a single point since the light meters used to measure them are so small. For example, I have a flash light that puts out 17 FC but a few inches away from the center it drops to probably around 4 FC. Basically, you are looking for Lux and not Lumen or footcandles. Lux takes into account area where as lumens and foocandles don't. For example, I can have 1,000 lumens focused onto one square meter and I get 1,000 lux. However, if I take that...
