Re: Show Designer 1 Bricked

ProfFilament ·
Thanks for your reply, Ela! I just got off the phone with support and they said something similar about the PCB and sent me a RMA request form. I'm curious though, since that repair sounds like something that I would feel comfortable trying, do you know if opening the unit would void my warranty and make it so that I could no longer send it in for an RMA repair?

Re: Magic 260 Issues

colorpalv10 ·
Surpized? Ha, auto correct will probably start to fail after 20+ hours of the light being outside. The auto correct sensor will start to fail with even the slightest-bit of humminity. It will be a tease too, if you pull the lights inside overnight, auto correct might start to work for awhile and as soon as you put them back up outside... failure. Always leave auto correct off. Re: Magic 260 Issues

colorpalv10 ·
Lopez, Don't know how much field experiance you have had with elation lights but yes, we are referring to position correction. The little sensor that elation uses for all of its position correction... moving heads position correction, gobo homing, color homing, proton color wheel homing...fail from high humitity. Most elation users that are 5 or less miles from the ocean will be extremely effected. Especailly if there is no outdoor housing for the light. The salty air will destroy the sensor...

Believe it or not working with tons of customers from Miami beach, NC, Ny, Salsburry MD, Los Angeles, Huntington beach, hermosa beach, newport beach, santa monica, i've never heard of such an issue? this would be news to me. I've even talked with a technical director from seaworld Orlando and she didn't even mention a sensor issue. She mentioned a PC board issue. That humitity eats away at the pc board cuasing electronics to fail.. so I would imagine all the boards would be ruined and not...

Nah, I just haven't had a chance to take out the PS 575s with the Magic 260 recently. I have been using a Hog 1000 or IPC instead. Only take the Magic with them when I have a request to do the PS 575s in a large club. Or I have to do something very simple, like a repeating program loop all night long. When I do take them out again with the Magic 260, I will do as gfuller said and turn off auto correction to see if it solves my problem. If so, I will post again saying so. If not, I will post...

January 2007 was the complete lightning installed in Dania Beach where my restaurant brandnew was becoming ready. The choice of the system was basically done by the professionals as the installer Sound & Lightning Ft. Lauderdale and his order to elation company. I only have had a fix amount for every thing which was paid after finishing the job. Couple of months later some of the lamps got discolered and I complaint. I was asured that they will be switching the plates and so were 6 of...

Problem is jingles that your middle men don't do their job real well. I can tell you I ordered a PS575, within one month, the lens in the front had fallen out, and the dimmer didn't work. It also had a few other issues. They sent my advanced replacement out late, despite saying it would be there a certain day, and because it that, it hurt a show I was doing and lost money on it. About 6 months later, I ordered 2 PS575IEs. One light, 2nd show I used it for, about 3 weeks old and under 50...

Hi World.. Elation guy jumping in here. in the world of consoles in general the faders and buttons you commonly use will need to be replaced sometime or another.. sometimes sooner than later. With the Elation consoles we strive to use the good components to do the Job and not the best component made.. That is why you will see some lighting consoles for alot more money than the Elation product, and some consoles for less money. We believe our consoles are a great value for the price. However...

Re: DMX Duo

lightech ·
Not to rob Jingles of business, but I think it would be beneficial for you to just buy a small DMX controller that will allow YOU to program your own scenes and chases. For one, you will learn a lot about DMX lighting and how to accomplish many different things. Plus, you will be able to modify, remove, and add to your current banks of scenes and chases without having to rely on someone else providing designs for you. You will then know how it all works inside and out, plus have the...

I've been asked to jump since I did a LOT of testing with MyDMX and MIDI and had documentable and repeatable results. Issue 1: Does MyDMX respond to MIDI triggers? Yes, it does. This has been resolved and in the latest version, you can use MIDI triggering, so we can just move forward from that. Issue 2: How easy is it to trigger MyDMX? Well, it really depends. Overall, the answer is yes, since most people are going to use MIDI NOTE ON commands for triggering scenes. Once a triggers are...

As a manufacturer, I would agree... if time is an issue... you have an event this weekend and the local guy doesn't have our fog fluid, then try and get the next best thing. But as Serra said, our or any service department will blame you if your machine gets ruined as a result of a fluid. Is it worth risking your warranty? As a manufacturer, I don't know what's in other peoples fluids, so I can't say what effects it will have on our machine... So I must strongly request that you use only our...

I'm jumping into this a bit later than I normally would, but I don't normally read this forum, despite the fact that I should. I have the DMX Operator. So, I know how it work quite well. I can't say I know it 100% inside and out, but I can get around it quite easily. I need to refer to the manual for programming it because I can't recall those steps. Other than that, the DMX Operator is my buddy. It is my reliable fall back for MyDMX. Issue 1: The scanner buttons. Each scanner buttonis...

Re: Understanding the DMX Operator

James, your explanation about DMX is right. A way (but VERY BAD and by no means recommended way) to prove this is plug it into an audio console and the channel get's constant single. Again, don't do this on purpose, you most likely will fry the pre-amps on that channel effectively killing it and/or can fry the DMX transmission device if phantom power is on. Chris, DMX constantly transmits do to its nature, not for failure. In fact, there is no error check in DMX which is the reason it is not...

Ahhh, makes more sense now, just a shorter arc source lamp. Make the point source smaller, make the light brighter. It would also be interesting to say that this new lamp is more efficient then plasma since they have Luminaire Efficacy Rating great then 90%, while arc lamps are normally around 55%. Since I have no specs on the new lamp, I can't calculate an LER for it, but I am sure it is higher then 55%. Ballasts still kill the efficiency of arc lamps and always will. Plasma likewise keeps...

Sorry, I fail to see why one would rely on a web forum instead of getting on the phone for making a business purchase decision UNLESS you're in active online conversation with a vendor, VAR or retailer. Nightraven's answer could have easily been had in 15-20 minutes or less total time if a phone call had been made. A company called Hybrid Cases has cases for the products you want. In reviewing several of the posts I have made, I realized that words at the end of lines of text seem to have been "disapeared." I use both a 26 and a 37 inch monitor, and from time to time it appears that Microsoft has "shaved the content" when the posts are translated to a normal sized screen. I apologize if there has been a misunderstanding, but the fact remains that, while I love the E-Spot fixtures, I need information not only about how to change gobos, but, down the line we will need...

Does sound like a great exhibit. Well all we can say at the moment is that the E Spot is in its new stage, meaning we just started shipping them so our failure rate is set at zero. we won't know what if anything goes bad on them for a while. The concept of the e-spot is to eliminate any failures. Its a revolution of all issues that cause a unit to fail. its light weight and cool inside.. 2 of the major issues with moving lights is the intense heat inside and the weight these movers put on...

I second this request. There should be no reason why it wouldnt be possible to have a feature rich iPad app that is on the same par as the Mac app. It would actually be easier to use, more like a controller, because you can actually touch the screen to make stuff happen.

Hi James. I to am having this same problem on my Mac. I followed the path but mine is not the same as what you posted. Which was: ../Users/user/Elation/emulation/Personality profiles/user My path is Users/user/Elation/ at this point I can go into Emulation folder but there is no Personality profiles folder. The folders in there are: CACHE, COLOURS, LANGUAGES, LOGS, & Midimaps folders. I can instead go into the COMMON folder instead of the emulation & there is a PERSONALITIES folder.
