Re: Magic 260 Issues
I thought I made that clear in my first post that the issue is with the Magic, not the lights themselves. It could be that the auto correct and the Magic don't get along, who knows. I just know that general channel personalites work fine, or I have to off-set the channel count by 2 so the lights don't pan randomly with the Power Spot personalites. The lights themslves have no issues.

Re: Haze question.
How long haze sticks around depends on a few factors. First, oil based or water based. Oil based tends to linger longer then water does. Second, what is the air flow like in the room in question? If you are moving a lot of air, haze won't linger as long. Poor air flow and haze will stay forever. So if the room has poor air flow, some fans drawing air in and out (like a wind tunnel) would help quite a bit. As for a good, small hazer, I would recommend water based due to the need to clear the...

Re: Haze question.
As a manufacturer, I would agree... if time is an issue... you have an event this weekend and the local guy doesn't have our fog fluid, then try and get the next best thing. But as Serra said, our or any service department will blame you if your machine gets ruined as a result of a fluid. Is it worth risking your warranty? As a manufacturer, I don't know what's in other peoples fluids, so I can't say what effects it will have on our machine... So I must strongly request that you use only our...

Re: SD1 drunken mishap
Mmkay, I wasn't sure the best way to make this make much sense, but I'll try again. Typically when a chase is running (playing back) and the pan tilt feature is accessed via the joystick or slider, the chase stops running the scond one bumps said joystick or slider. So, my question is as follows, how did we manage to get the chase to not only continuing playing but to move in the direction that we were "telling it" to in real time (apparently within the steps of a particular chase). Perhaps...

Re: LED diffusion
Yea, I was looking for fixing color shadow stuff, but mostly the separation of the leds. I helped a friend with a show and he had 8 Martin Stagebars, and they come with a clear and a super thick diffusion that you can swap out. The diffusion was more of a thick piece of plastic than a diffusion, but it looked amazing. I was looking for something like that i guess. I would love to see pix of the before and after with diffusion, Serra. That would be awesome. Drew

Re: How to fade lights when turning off.
If you right click on the part of your fixture page where it displays the name of your fixture a menu will appear and at the bottom of this menu you will find a scene fade toolbar option. Select that option. Now to use that feature simply click on the scene you wish to fade and then check the check box to the left of the toolbar. Only use a time in the second box for fade time. The other times are various hold times mainly used for par cans. I hope this is clear enough. I cannot post any...

Re: Using a Midi controller to activate buttons
John, You're right - I probably was not clear. I have a midi controller, actually an M-Audio Radium 61 keyboard. It has keys (obviously) and buttoins and sliders and knobs. I want to input import a picture of this and then overlay midi control buttons and then link Compu Live events to the midi data. See page 71 of the manual for I am trying to do. My issue is where do I put the .bmp picture of keyboard to begin attaching buttons and linking them to triggering events within the settings of...

For JOhn Lopez, I purchased this box about a year ago. Not had a problem until I did the update on the elation website that said "Drivers for all Compu Live Interfaces" As I mentioned, it did clear up a random flicker issue I was having but now I am canceling a firm-ware update everytime I switch computers. Computer specs are all similar, Windows XP (updated to the latest service packs), 2 gig of ram, AMD Athlon processors, 120 gig hard drives. Jon

John, I will give this a shot but I'm going to wait until after tomorrow. I have a concert on Friday evening and have things working but.... I will try to clear everything and see what happens. I have only been using Easy Stand Alone because my fixtures were all pars and it was easy to setup and run quickly. I now have some LED's and am working with High End Moving lights and need to get more sophisticated with the programming. Maybe time to get to Compu-live.

Re: Hazer/Fazer....confusion
OK. I get what you're saying. Oil produces better results but leaves residue. For me, that's bad. Not acceptable, due to the residue. water-based doesn't work as well but you don't have the residue. I can handle that. It sounds like the Fazer X-310II might be what I'm looking for. Use an Antari water-based fog fluid. OK, again, I'm good. Now, I do have questions still. I want DMX control, so it sounds like I need to buy the X-20II DMX module, which is definately acceptable. Just to be clear,...

Re: Hazer/Fazer....confusion
Your on the right track. I believe X-310II is what your looking for. The other great features this machine has is it already comes with on board timer and DMX digital module!! this is awesome. It also features a blue LED fluid indicator, as soon as fluid levels are low it starts to blink telling you to add more fluid. And to be clear the X-310II is mainly a fog machine producing a haze-type effect. A haze machine runs continous, the minute you turn on a hazer the compressor starts and you...

Ahhh, makes more sense now, just a shorter arc source lamp. Make the point source smaller, make the light brighter. It would also be interesting to say that this new lamp is more efficient then plasma since they have Luminaire Efficacy Rating great then 90%, while arc lamps are normally around 55%. Since I have no specs on the new lamp, I can't calculate an LER for it, but I am sure it is higher then 55%. Ballasts still kill the efficiency of arc lamps and always will. Plasma likewise keeps...

There are a couple things to check when it comes to getting a tilt error. Make sure that the wire harness coming from the board to the Optical Sensor/ Magnetic Sensor/ Motor all have continuity. Make sure that the decoder wheel is lined up in the center of the Optical Sensor. Clear any debris (Belt/ Dust) in the decoder wheel.

Sorry for the confusion I added to the thread. I wasn't aware of this Pro Bar. This unit does have a regular midi input and a thru output (what comes in the in will be rebroadcasted out to another midi device if you want). You won't need any special hardware. It will respond to either DMX signals or midi note signals, but apparently not both at the same time - you've got to choose. On each of four separate channels the unit will do something when it recives a midi note on that channel...

Ya the magic 3d progrma won't synch up with compu if your not running the one from inside the program. Try this. Sabe your work files. uninstall compu. delete the SL2006 folder and restart your pc then re install. That might clear up any issues. Also make sure you extract the .exe file from the .zip folder before you run the installer, when you download the compu software from our website. Sincerely,

Re: elation show designer 2
hi Ryan, it how has it been working lately? you may not be clearing the buffer memory. if you don't clear the buffer memory then it collects to much information and doesn't allow it to record correctly. some of your scenes may already be very poorly recorded so you will have to delete that scene then recreate them. You clear the buffer by simply holding the black button for 3 seconds. this clears the buffer and allows you to record crystal clear scenes. Best regards,

Re: Magic 260 "GO" button
Sergio cleared this up for me. As the manual makes clear, the GO button allows you to manually step through each scene of a show. The manual is not clear (at least to me) that the scenes will play automatically even if the "Manual" setting is set to ON if the TAPSYNC button is activated (in which case the GO button does nothing). So if you wan to use the GO button, make sure that the TAPSYNC buttong is off. [Hold it down for 2 seconds.] Thhe AUDIO button overrides the manual setting in...

In your picture there is a ADJ1 Fixture info.txt if you open it up it will tell you what the fixtures are for the code that is shown as the file name in the folder. Part of the reason for this is because the console will reject any profile with a name longer than 6 or 7 characters. If you try to load a profile with a long...

Re: DMX Address
OK, I found the manual for the Elation SDC-6 6 Channel Manual Dmx Controller. It is not particularly clear with respect to DMX, but here is my best guess at what it is saying. The SDC-6 says it adjusts values of 1~6 channels. I'm guessing that you can't adjust which six channels it controls, i.e., it only sends signals on channels 1 thru 6. That means you have to set the dip switches on the DP-415 to "listen" on those channels. Note that the DP-415 only handles 4 channels - so two of the...

Re: updating memory for show desighner 2
I believe it is also possible to be storing a lot of buffer memory data. Show Designer consoles store memory into a buffer. Everytime you begin to write a scene or chase, and you begin moving all the faders and knobs, Show Designer stores this information into the buffer memory. You store this info into every scene. So every once in a while it is essential to clear the buffer memory. you do that by holding black for 3 seconds.
