Thank you for the immediate response! I have a rental company and have used emulation for years now. I think it's been a year that cuelux started support of the emulation cables and for a brief moment I used it. The thing is that the ''FINE'' movement position does not work for the last 2 versions at least. When we are at a wedding we need to follow the couple with a moving head and witout fine the rotary pan of the midicon cannot control it smoothly. I have e-builder installed on all...

The instruction manual. I was going to comment, but felt its better for an elation rep to let them know which is right rather then my opinion. It says that then lens should be replaced every two years, but really it only needs to be replaced when it gets cloudy or breaks IMO. The manual is referring to the outer condensing lens, by the way, the one you can touch (but shouldn't) on the front of the head. Overall, you shouldn't need to replace any lens' on your power spot until it breaks. -Homeboy

Hey Jingles.. What's new?? Color mixing is interesting. When you have RGB. This is considered addative color mixing. What this means is, if you have Red at 100%, Green at 100% and Blue at 100% you get white. CMY is subtractive color mixing.. If you do all the colors at 100% this will give you black, or the colors go away. CMY is only useful if you have a white source to back it up, like in a moving head, the source is comming from the lamp.

John, Thank you and Jingles for your help. It all really helped! I actually went ahead and ordered the program about a week ago. Today was the first chance I've had to make sure what I had programmed matched what actually happened. I have figured out most of the bugs, but there is still one I can't quite get: My 4 moving heads (Design Spot 250) initialize to a different position than what is shown on the visualizer. For example, in reality when I look at the MH's they sit on the ground in...

well does it affect the actual light when programming? like when it is in the home position on ur real life stage does it move to where the head is positioned on the visualizer? also to edit a scene in init u need to turn on the fader. cause in init everything is locked down. so to edit ur init scene so that way ur heads are the same as u would on stage u need to click on init so that way it is on then hit ctrl and then hold down alt at the same time then left click ur init button. Ok, I tried changing the rotation angle in the fixture library to 540, and it actually works: the "home" positions match! In fact, in the viewer, the head points down and away from me and the U of the yoke arms run left to right. So NOW that matches what I have in real life. I even went ahead and checked the actual degrees of rotation both in the viewer and in real life, and in both modes (540 and 630), the fixtures really do rotate the full range of degrees they're supposed to. It's just...

hey drew! 1) no you can have it all mixed up if you want you just have to address them where you want them is all.so you can have like 2 scanners and two moving heads and have it go scanner head scanner head instaed of feeling like you have to go scanner scanner and then the 2 heads. 2) try putting the hazer as the first in line or maybe try going from lights to haze then back to lights in your line. understand? peace! jingles.

Oh man I can't tell you how much I laughed at that! Ok anyways, DMX, it really is a cool thing. Here are some basics. DMX stands for D igital M ultiple X . It is a way for each and every (DMX Compatible ) light, made by any manufacturer, to interact with an universal DMX controller. In a standard DMX protocol (called 512-DMX protocol) there are a total of 512 "channels" In order to get your lights to interact with the controller, you must address them. There are 2 ways (that I know of) that...

Nice, any idea what the lumen output on the fixture will be? I like the advances Elation is making in the LED segment to make them more mainstream, and also like the advances in the moving head market. The flooding of the market with different wattage movers, high abilities, and very competitive price is great, means I can do more for less and makes clients happy. A few big problems I have with Elation is shipping, product availability, durability, and quality control. Fix these things, and...

we built little floor mounts for our led par196 lights, clamped one on the back of the bass amp for me (The drummer). we have 4 moving head mini wash lights that are also on the floor. there are 2 colorstrips on each guitar amp. It is a really easy setup, once our instruments and amps are in place we drop the lights and hook them up in less than 5 minutes. our next step i think is black lights.

Re: Is there a 250 spot that will mix color like this?

serraava ·
I would look into the DS 250 Wash for that effect on the cheap. It is the cheapest CMY moving head out I believe. The CMY might not be that punchy on dark colors do to the 250w lamp however. If you are really set on that effect, and it is a great effect, I would look into the washes. Remember, washes can be used for other things too. Stuff like fading in between colors for stage washes smoothly vs color scrolling which you would need twice as many fixtures to do without being seen scrolling...

Ok, last question before I go to bed. Since I don't have any moving head fixtures just yet it was hard to justify buying the software. However, I threw up some of DLED 36's and I can do some great effects with these that are not possible on my show designer 1. Ok tell me how to accomplish this in the real world. 1. I want to create a dimmer chase for Design LED 36's that I can save and then overlay on any of my other static DLED 36 scenes. i.e. Say I have 3 scenes programmed for my DLED's.

well here is what the page says. "LED TECHNOLOGY BREAKTHROUGH! The X-Move LED Hi-Tech Moving Head features a 20-Watt white LED for a hard edge beam that will project gobos and solid colors. Now you can enjoy the look of a traditional halogen or discharge lighting effect with a fraction of the power draw (44W) and without the hassle of changing out the light bulbs (LEDs rated at 50,000 hours)."

Don't know if this is helpful but here goes. I use the BCF2000 and Compu06. To control dimmers I have a 'always clicked' switch that only controls the dimmer for the channel I want. Then I hook that switch up to my MIDI controller on a fader. When I move the fader on the BCF2000 the lights move accordingly since the button is 'always clicked' in the software. We do this on a couple of different things (chase speed on knobs [always clicked switch], but clicking the knob invokes the...

I can help with a few recommendations. What is the room size? and the height at which these fixtures will be mounted? For a beginner moving head i would go with 2 design spots 250. Led par cans Check out some of our LED par cans and if the price is too high check out American DJ's P64LED Pro. Oh and what is your budget? Sincerely,

Re: Newbie Question!

serraava ·
For front light at smaller venues, I would lean more towards LEDs vs Par 64s. Par 64s can be lamped 500w, 600w, or 1000w. That is a lot of juice, and at smaller venues, power is often an issue. Check out the Opti 30 RGBs or the new Opti 30 Tri. If that is out of your price range, would look to the P64LED Pro like jingles said. For moving heads, again, DS250s are great fixtures. The might be out of your range however, so a Power Spot 250 would be a cheaper, yet still great quality alternate.

Re: Design Spot 300 Pro Cooling

Hi TVLD, Inc and welcome to the forums. The Design moving head series's fans power down after the fixture cools to a certain point with the lamp off. It is nice because it allows you to leave the fixtures on all the time without the fans running. Just simply turn off the lamps and walk away. It also let's you know when the lamp is cool enough to power down. You should be able to change this setting in the menu if you want the fans to run all the time.

I know of three dealers that I can can darn near anything from, or have custom made. My suggestion would be that if the cases you're looking at are a dead-end, then the next step for you would be to head to a nearby pro audio store(because they often also carry lighting) and see what brands of cases that they carry or can carry. Chances are, they could contact that company and see if a model already exists in their non-published catalog. Many companies list their common-type cases, but...

I'm sure there is an electronics store within reasonable distance from you. The issue I'd be concerned about is depending on HOW it blew up, you could have more of a mess than you initially though. Still, caps are pretty cheap and if you can do a halfway decent solder job, you're golden. I'd prefer to match like for like caps, I don't like going to a higher voltage. I am in a similar situation.
